(PIX11) — A second man was arrested for allegedly beating an NYPD officer the same day the cop was released from the hospital, authorities said. Wayne Lucas, 23, was taken into custody in Virginia on Wednesday afternoon, according to the NYPD. His accomplice, Taveon Hargrove, 23, was arrested in Virginia on Tuesday. The charges against the suspects were pending Thursday, police said. More Local News Officer Nafees Chowdhury was wheeled out of Jacobi Medical Center in the Bronx on Wednesday with his family by his side as his fellow officers applauded. Chowdhury replied with a thankful nod to the crowd before NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch greeted his family. 'Come for one of us & you'll have the full force of the NYPD coming for you,' Tisch said in a post on X. Police said the suspects allegedly put a knife up to the officer's throat and stole his gun, iPhone, and wallet on St. Peter's Avenue at around 4 a.m. Saturday. Chowdhury was critically injured after he was stomped in the head, according to Mayor Eric Adams. The officer had just finished an overnight shift and was heading home. Surveillance footage shows Chowdhury, still in uniform, walking at 4:08 a.m. right before being attacked by two masked suspects. 'They approached him—one in front, one in the back—and they caught him off guard,' Adams said. 'One of them stepped on his face in a violent way.' The officer's brother-in-law, Gazi Hasan, said the family is devastated. 'The family is shocked about the situation,' he said. Wayne Lucas, 23, is wanted in connection with the attack on the 27-year-old cop Saturday in the Bronx, according to the NYPD. Taveon Hargrove, 23, was arrested Tuesday. JAMAICA, Queens (PIX11) — An intoxicated man was shoved onto the train tracks in a Queens subway station on Thursday, according to police and sources. The 39-year-old man was pushed onto the southbound E train tracks in Sutphin Boulevard-Archer Avenue subway station in Jamaica at around 4:40 a.m., police said. More Local News The victim, who was drunk, was taken to the hospital for treatment, sources and police said. The suspect ran out of the station after the incident. There have been no arrests. Earlier this week, two men were shoved onto subway tracks in the Whitehall Street subway station in Manhattan, police said. Police said it happened at around 10:30 p.m. Monday. Terrell Coley, 35, is accused of pushing a 71-year-old man onto the tracks and punching a 30-year-old man, who also fell onto the tracks, according to authorities. EAST HARLEM (PIX11) — A man has been charged after a woman was found beaten unconscious on Randall's Island, according to police. Miguel Jiraud, 30, was arrested just before 8:30 a.m. on Friday and charged with attempted murder, authorities say. More Local News Police had been searching for a suspect after a 44-year-old woman was found lying on a bike path on May 17. Officials previously reported that the woman had been walking near East 125th Street in Harlem when she was punched multiple times in the head. The woman remains in critical condition in the hospital, authorities say.
