Nagpur Cultural Society Stages Hindi Comdey Play ‘Dhumrapaan'
1 2 Nagpur: The Nagpur Cultural Society (NCS) treated its members to a riveting theatrical experience on August 10 at Persistent Hall with the staging of 'Dhumrapaan', a Hindi comedy play by Mumbai-based theatre group D For Drama. Written by Adhir Bhatt and directed by Akarsh Khurana — known for his work in Krrishh and Tripling — the play featured noted Bollywood actors Kumud Mishra (Rockstar, Mulk, Article 15, MS Dhoni) and Shubhrajyoti Barat (Mirzapur, Article 15), along with Ghanshyam Lalsa, Siddharth Kumar, Sartakh Kakar, Abhishek Saha, and Kirti Soni. The music was composed and performed live by Rajat Tiwari. A sharp yet humorous take on the corporate rat race, Dhumrapaan is set in the smoking zone of an office building over the course of a week. The narrative revolves around a group of employees who, while discussing appraisals, politics, and relationships, also grapple with their stress, fears, and insecurities. Blending wit with subtle social commentary, the play leaves audiences laughing while reflecting on the realities of modern capitalism. Speaking on the occasion, Rina Sinha, President of NCS, said, "NCS is committed to offering wholesome entertainment to our members across genres like dance, music, and drama, nurturing both local and national talent." She also acknowledged the efforts of theatre director Vikash Khurana of Stagecraft for facilitating the staging of Dhumrapaan in Nagpur. A Hometown Star Returns: Parvathi Meenakshi's Magical Concert Wows Nagpur
1 2 3 4 Nagpur: It was an evening soaked in music, memories, and magic as Parvathi Meenakshi, the young singing sensation who rose to national fame through TV show 'Sa Re Ga Ma Pa', made her much-awaited public performance debut in her hometown of Nagpur. Hosted by the Nagpur Cultural Society (NCS), the concert was held at a new venue, a hall at Airport South Metro Station in the city. The moment that melted every heart in the auditorium came when Dr Ajay Sood, ophthalmologist and accomplished singer himself, invited veteran music guru Unnikrishnan Nair on stage during a brief interlude. Nair, under whose tutelage Parvathi trained since she was just 8, was visibly emotional. "To see the little girl who once shyly sang in front of me now performing on national platforms, in movies, and in front of global audiences, it's a proud moment," he said. Reminiscing about their early days, Nair recalled a special duet they once performed, 'Jab Deep Jale Aana'. The audience spontaneously requested an encore. What followed was pure magic: Nair began with his signature Yesudas-style rendition, and Parvathi joined in halfway, her voice brimming with maturity and soul. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Villas For Sale in Dubai Might Surprise You Dubai villas | search ads Get Deals Undo The auditorium fell into a collective hush before erupting into applause.
