CR's Nagpur division conducts ticket checking drive, collects Rs 9.16L in fines
Nagpur: A massive ticket checking drive was conducted by the Nagpur Division of Central Railway on Monday across various trains to curb ticketless and illegal travel. In all, 23 trains were thoroughly inspected during this special drive, said an official. The checking operation was carried out by a dedicated team comprising 90 ticket checking staff, nine Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel, and five commercial inspectors. The drive was monitored by senior commercial officers, including senior divisional commercial manager, Aman Mittal, to ensure smooth and effective execution, said the official, adding the initiative was undertaken by divisional railway manager (DRM) Vinayak Garg. As a result of this intensive checking, 1,430 cases of ticketless or irregular travel were detected, resulting in a total penalty realisation of Rs 9,16,660. Central Railway has appealed to all passengers to travel with valid tickets to avoid inconvenience and penalties. Such drives will be conducted regularly to ensure compliance and improve passenger discipline.

Central Rly serves free chilled water at select stations
Nagpur: Adopting a humane gesture in service delivery, Nagpur Division of Central Railway has introduced ' Free Chilled Water Distribution Services ' at Sevagram, Dhamangaon, Wani, Pandhurna, and Multai railway stations, effective from Tuesday. This measure was adopted in the backdrop of Vidarbha suffering an intense heatwave with soaring temperatures. This initiative focuses on providing cool, safe, and hygienic drinking water to passengers, especially those travelling in general and unreserved coaches, who are often most impacted by the heat. On the inaugural day, chilled water was distributed on board train no. 12616 Grand Trunk Express and train no. 12792 Secunderabad–Patna Express, drawing appreciation from passengers. Volunteers actively participated in distributing water bottles to passengers in the general compartments, bringing a sense of comfort and care to long-distance travellers. The initiative is being closely monitored by station authorities to maintain smooth operations and hygiene standards. This passenger-friendly initiative highlights Central Railway's unwavering commitment to improving the travel experience and ensuring passenger comfort , particularly during the intense summer season. The Nagpur Division remains dedicated to addressing the needs of its valued passengers, placing their welfare at the forefront and taking proactive steps to provide relief and convenience during the harsh summer months.
