Notices to contractor, consultant, 4 NMRDA officials in Koradi slab collapse
1 2 Nagpur: The Nagpur Metropolitan Region Development Authority (NMRDA) has sent notices to the contractor firm BBG, Project Management Consultants (PMC), and four of its own officials on Monday, as two separate probes started into the slab collapse at the construction site of the VIP entrance at Koradi temple on Saturday. The officials have to reply to the notices, which ask why action should not be taken against them, within 24 hours. NMRDA has appointed a committee of four experts to conduct an independent inquiry into the matter. A separate committee under the district collector has been set up on the directions of revenue minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule. Sixteen workers, including four supervisors, had been injured in the slab collapse at the construction site of a gate as part of the development works at the Koradi temple pilgrimage site. Even as investigations into the cause of the accident are starting, NMRDA on Monday announced Rs1 lakh aid to those injured, and Rs2 lakh to the seriously injured workers. Guardian minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule has ordered an inquiry committee under the chairmanship of collector Vipin Itankar. This committee includes executive engineer Rajesh Sontakke (water resources department), chief engineer Sambhaji Mane (public works department), superintending engineer Manish Patil, and expert RK Ingle (VNIT). by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Your Finger Shape Says a Lot About Your Personality, Read Now Tips and Tricks Undo Bawankule has directed completion of the inquiry and submission of a report within 30 days. NMRDA has also initiated action by appointing an independent committee. The panel will consider the fact that when the slab casting work started at night, no representative of NMRDA or the consultant was present at the site. The NMRDA committee is headed by superintending engineer Abdul Javed (NMRDA), and includes executive engineer Lalit Raut, and deputy director of town planning Supriya Thul. This committee will submit its report within a week. Discussions about suspending some officials were underway in administrative circles on Monday, reliable sources from NMRDA said. Sources also said that an official decision in this regard will be taken in the next two days. "The slab work was 80% complete. Suddenly the slab started moving. Before we could understand anything, we all fell on the safety net. However, Naresh Baghel fell on the road from a height and was injured seriously. I had an injury to my waist. I was discharged from hospital on Monday, and doctors have advised rest," said an injured worker, Mukesh Vindane. Dharmendra Patle, brother-in-law of seriously injured worker Naresh Baghel (age 30 years), said Baghel had been working in the construction sector for 6 years. Baghel underwent a surgery for his head injury, and has serious injuries to his hands and legs too. Currently, he is in ICU. "Company officials are ensuring treatment is done at their expense. Baghel was the sole earner in the family comprising his mother, wife and seven-month-old daughter. Though originally from Balaghat, the family lives on rent at Jaripatka," said Patle. Koradi slab collapsed as cuplock of one of the pipes in scaffolding broke
Nagpur: Construction of the Ramayana gate or VIP gate, whose slab collapsed on Saturday night, is part of the ongoing beautification and redevelopment project of the Shri Mahalaxmi Jagdamba Mandir at Koradi being implemented by the Nagpur Metropolitan Region Development Authority (NMRDA). According to NMRDA sources, the incident happened while casting the slab of the VIP gate towards the Ramayana Cultural Centre. "The under-construction part of the structure collapsed after cuplock of one of the pipes in the scaffolding erected for centering broke," said the sources. They said that the slab work was going on between two raised columns of the gate. NMRDA commissioner Sanjay Meena rushed to the spot on being informed about the accident. Sources said that the under-construction gate is part of the ongoing Rs214.94 crore phase 3 and phase 4 of the historic Koradi Temple Revelopment and Beautification project. The govt has released Rs95 crore so far, with another Rs119.94 crore awaited. Earlier, NMRDA had completed the phase 1 and 2 of the project which included redevelopment of existing temple and construction of Ramayana Museum. As part of phase 3 and 4, NMRDA is also building a 151ft tall Lord Hanuman statue, which will be largest in the state. Stay updated with the latest local news from your city on Times of India (TOI). NMRDA Calls Builders' Meet After Rs1,500Cr Bhavan Project Fails To Attract Bids
Nagpur: In a bid to salvage its ambitious Rs1,500 crore NMRDA Bhavan project that failed to attract a single bid during its first tendering attempt, the Nagpur Metropolitan Region Development Authority (NMRDA) has now invited developers and entrepreneurs for a meeting to gather suggestions and understand the concerns that may have deterred participation. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now The crucial meeting is scheduled to be held on Friday at the Nagpur Improvement Trust (NIT) office in Sadar, where the NMRDA currently operates from. The initiative is aimed at encouraging dialogue with real estate sector and reworking the project structure based on their feedback. The NMRDA, which governs areas outside the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) limits, currently lacks a dedicated office space of its own. Recognising the operational challenges of managing a vast and rapidly growing metropolitan region from a temporary setup, chief minister Devendra Fadnavis earlier this year instructed officials to identify a suitable site and begin work on a permanent facility at the earliest. State revenue minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule took charge of the project implementation. Following the CM's directive, a 22-acre parcel of land owned by NMRDA in Mouza Sondapar near Jamtha stadium on Wardha Road was finalised for the project. Officials said the location was chosen for its connectivity and long-term development potential. According to sources, the proposed infrastructure was to be developed through design, build, finance, maintain, and sale (DBFMS) model. Under this model, developer would construct the NMRDA Bhavan, officers' quarters, residential buildings, a clubhouse, and other facilities. In return, the developer would be allowed to commercially utilise around 6 to 6.5 acres of the land in front — a potentially lucrative incentive. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now "This land is strategically located, and the blueprint was made keeping in mind the future needs of NMRDA. The office building is just one part of the larger vision. Residential quarters are essential too, since the project site is far from the city. Without them, it would be difficult for employees to work there or otherwise citizens visiting the office would face inconvenience if the officials are reaching late," said a senior NMRDA official. Despite the scale and the commercial opportunity, the project failed to get any response in the first tender. Officials believe a lack of clarity or concerns over the return on investment may have discouraged developers. "We have called this meeting to understand the developers' perspective. It's a chance to hear their suggestions, concerns and see what changes are required to make the project more attractive," the official said, adding after the meeting many things would be made clear. A fresh tender process may be issued after incorporating feedback received during the meeting.

444 services unavailable on ‘aaple sarkar' portal despite digital push
1 2 3 4 5 Pune: Even though state govt continues to promote digitisation and time-bound delivery of public services under the Maharashtra Right to Public Service Act, 2015, a significant chunk — over 400 notified facilities — are yet to come on 'aaple sarkar RTS portal', data shows. Of the 1,027 services notified under the Act across 29 departments, only 583 are currently available online. The remaining 444 services continue to operate offline, defeating the very purpose of a seamless, transparent, and paperless system promised to people, officials said. Among the departments that are yet to completely switch to digital mode are animal husbandry, medical education and drugs, education, Nagpur Metropolitan Region Development Authority, Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai, state excise, and transport. "The deadline to digitise all notified services is Aug 15. However, we have urged all departments to speed up the process and integrate the services with the portal as soon as possible. Otherwise the services delivery cannot be tracked," a senior govt official said. Another official said people can either submit their application sitting at home or use the 40000 seva kendras across the state. However, citizen groups claim that many kendras are either non-functional or offer limited support, further weakening the last-mile delivery. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Giao dịch CFD với công nghệ và tốc độ tốt hơn IC Markets Đăng ký Undo "My daughter wanted her domicile certificate and despite trying to upload documents from home, we faced technical glitches," Meera Mohan, a home maker, said. Kartika K, a medical student, had to approach a kendra or citizen facilitation centre to apply for income generation certificate. "While some services are online, there are many departments that have not uploaded the services." Recently, chief minister Devendra Fadnavis set Aug 15 as the deadline for full digitisation, warning that non-compliance would attract Rs1,000 in fine per day for each offline service. Amendment planned State govt is mulling an amendment to the RTS Act to introduce compensation for people affected by delays in services delivery, officials said. The proposed clause, based on the model practised in Haryana, would hold officials accountable and ensure applicats are reimbursed for missed deadlines. An automatic escalation of unresolved cases is also under review. Since the Act came into effect in 2015, state has processed 18.89 crore service requests, with 17.79 crore resolved, data shows. Initiatives like 'Sevadhoot', a doorstep delivery programme, have gained traction statewide, underscoring the public's growing demand for accessible, tech-enabled governance. This will be replicated across Maharashtra, officials said.

Maharashtra tallest 151ft Lord Hanuman Idol in the making at Koradi
1 2 3 4 Nagpur: A 151-ft idol of Lord Hanuman at the revered Shri Mahalaxmi Jagdamba Temple in Koradi, a pilgrimage destination visited by lakhs each year, is set to emerge as a new spiritual and architectural marvel in the district. Once completed, it will be the tallest Hanuman idol in the state. Construction is progressing briskly, with 40% to 50% of the structure already completed. If all goes as planned, the idol is expected to be completed by September this year. The total cost of the project is estimated at ₹11.5 crore, of which ₹2.76 crore has already been utilised, according to officials from the Nagpur Metropolitan Region Development Authority (NMRDA), which is overseeing the project. What makes the idol even more captivating is its unique placement. "The idol is being built in an artificial tank and will serve as a major tourist attraction. The visual impact is expected to be breathtaking. As the idol rises from the edge of the tank, its reflection shimmering in the water below, it promises to offer a spectacle that beautifully blends devotion with design," said a senior NMRDA official. The idea of constructing the Lord Hanuman idol was conceived by Congress MLA Nitin Raut during his tenure as the state energy minister. The work was later continued by the revenue minister and BJP MLA Chandrashekhar Bawankule. Mahagenco constructed the tank and the foundation, while a Delhi-based firm specialising in statue and idol construction is building the idol. The contract was awarded in July 2023 with an 18-month completion window. While the original deadline was set for January 2025, the timeline has since been advanced, and completion is now targeted for the end of this year. The massive idol is part of the ₹214.94 crore redevelopment project (phases 3 and 4) of the historic Koradi temple complex. Of the total funding, the government has released ₹95 crore so far, with another ₹119.94 crore awaited. NMRDA, under commissioner Sanjay Meena, has already completed phases 1 and 2 and continues to drive the current phase with sustained effort.
