1 2 Nagpur: A day after Nagpur shuttlers scripted a historic gold and bronze medal in the Nandu Natekar Memorial Senior State Inter-District Team Badminton Championship at Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar, the city's doubles specialists Ritika Thaker, Nikkita Joseph, and Nehal Gosavi made it to the mixed and women's doubles finals. In the individual events of the senior state championships on Tuesday, Ritika paired up with Thane's Depp Rambhiya to enter the mixed doubles final, while the Nagpur duo of Nikkita and Nehal confirmed their berth in the women's doubles title clash. In the men's singles, third-seeded Sankalp Gurala of Nagpur outclassed Suveer Pradhan in straight games 21-17, 26-24 to enter the men's singles semifinal, where he will face top seed Varun Kapur. In the women's team championship final, Nagpur girls registered a thrilling come-from-behind 2-1 title triumph over hosts Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar. For the first time in the tournament, Nagpur girls lost a game when Krisha Soni suffered a 15-21, 20-22 defeat against Sanskruti Satarkar in the first women's singles tie. In the women's doubles outing, the Nagpur duo of Nehal Gosavi and Nikkita Joseph got the better of the home team pair of Sanskruti Satarkar and Sonali Mirkhelkar 21-18, 18-21, 21-17. After Nehal and Nikkita brought parity for Nagpur in the summit clash, Nishika Gokhe sealed the fate of the hosts by winning the second singles outing 21-19, 21-14 against Sara Salunkhe.
