NEW DEHI: A newly constructed residential complex for parliamentarians offers spacious living, modern amenities and eco-friendly features. The complex, located near the Parliament House, comprises four 25-storey towers named after major rivers — Kosi, Krishna, Godavari and Hooghly — with a total of 184 type-VII flats. Each flat has a carpet area of approximately 5,000 square feet. These flats provide more space than the previously allotted top-tier bungalows. Construction employed advanced methods using reinforced cement concrete and aluminium shuttering, significantly reducing the building timeline from the traditional 30–35 days for roof laying to 10–12 days. Completed in two years at a cost of around Rs 550 crore, the buildings are earthquake-resistant and adhere to modern structural standards. A two-level basement car park accommodates 500 vehicles. The complex also features a community centre with four shops designed to meet residents' needs and provide space for social gatherings. Sustainability was prioritised throughout the project. The complex meets the National Building Code 2016 standards and has earned a GRIHA 3-star rating for energy conservation, renewable energy generation and effective waste management. Overall, the complex aims to provide parliamentarians with a comfortable, functional, and secure living environment, addressing previous housing shortages. Fire safety: Centre asks city hospitals to follow regulations

Chandigarh: Terming fire safety in hospitals and nursing homes in Chandigarh as a matter of the "utmost importance," director general of fire services, ministry of home affairs, GoI, wrote a letter to the UT chief secretary, calling for fire safety audits and inspection of all govt and private hospitals as well as nursing homes. An action taken report (ATR) is to be submitted within 60 days. The chief secretary has forwarded the directives to the MC, which deals with fire safety and related aspects. The development is crucial for Chandigarh, where several hospitals have received notices for failing to comply with fire safety norms laid down by the municipal corporation. Although the civic body conducts fire audits from time to time, many prominent buildings in the city have not obtained the fire safety NoCs till date. The letter from the director general of fire services to the chief secretary reads, "Fire safety in hospitals and nursing homes is a matter of utmost importance, given the critical nature of these institutions. Any fire-related incident on such premises can lead to tragic consequences, including loss of lives and disruption of essential health services. In this regard, this directorate has issued multiple advisories and communications highlighting the need for urgent attention towards this issue. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like I Lost My Passport in Rome. The letter authorises UT fire services to continue with existing practices in vogue, besides implementing these guidelines and prioritising inspection of facilities with ICUs, oxygen support systems, and critical care units. Authorities have also been directed to conduct regular fire drills and training for hospital staff. The director general of fire services informed that they have prepared a checklist for the inspection and audit of fire safety measures in hospitals and nursing homes in alignment with relevant provisions of the National Building Code 2016, guidelines issued by NDMA, standards of the Bureau of Indian Standards, and advisories of the ministry of health and family welfare. Delhi Gets 184 New Flats For MPs: Know All About The Type-VII Multi-Storey Housing Project

The complex houses 4 towers---Krishna, Godavari, Kosi, and Hooghly---and has been built using advanced construction methods, including monolithic concrete with aluminium shuttering Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday inaugurated 184 newly built Type-VII multi-storey flats for Members of Parliament (MPs) on New Delhi's Baba Kharak Singh Marg. The project, which lays emphasis on vertical housing, aims to address the shortage of adequate housing for MPs and provide modern and eco-friendly residences. Speaking to the media, PM Modi said: 'Our MPs will face no issues in the new residences and will be able to focus more on their work. In these multi-storey buildings, more than 180 MPs will live together. Like I previously said, the rent of the ministries functioning from rented buildings would cost the government nearly Rs 1,500 crore annually. Similarly, the government expenses were very high in the absence of an adequate number of MP residences. Despite a shortage of MP residences, no new residence was constructed from 2014 to 2024. We took this work as a campaign. Around 350 MP residences have been built since 2014." On the occasion, the prime minister planted a Sindoor sapling at the site and interacted with construction workers. ALL ABOUT THE HOUSING COMPLEX • The residential complex houses four towers—Krishna, Godavari, Kosi, and Hooghly—and has been built using advanced construction methods, including monolithic concrete with aluminium shuttering, helping complete the project on time while ensuring durability. • According to a government press release, the flats had been designed to be inclusive and accessible for persons with disabilities, and all buildings in the complex are earthquake-resistant. • Each flat offers about 5,000 square feet of carpet area, providing space for both living and official work. The complex also includes office areas, staff quarters, and a community centre to support MPs in their daily responsibilities. • The complex—in an effort to achieve sustainability—meets the GRIHA 3-star green building rating and follows the National Building Code 2016. Energy-saving features, renewable energy systems, and proper waste management have been incorporated. • The decision to go vertical was taken due to limited land availability in the Capital and to reduce maintenance costs, the government said. A modern security system has also been installed to ensure the safety of all residents. • The building includes a community centre on its premises, designed to serve as a hub for MPs' social gatherings and official functions. Explaining the rationale behind the project, the government said the need was felt due to inadequate housing for MPs. 'Owing to the limited availability of land, there has been a sustained emphasis on vertical housing developments aimed at optimising land use and minimising maintenance costs. This residential complex, situated at BKS Marg, New Delhi, offers significant locational advantages for the MPs, particularly due to its proximity to the Parliament House complex."
