How to get a free burger at Shake Shack this month
Shake Shack is dropping a brand new special in honor of National Burger Month. For a limited-time, the fast-food franchise will be offering a free burger to all patrons who spend $10 or more. The deal will run from the first of May until the first of June. Customers interested in receiving a free burger will have the option of choosing from one of four different styles. Right now, the chain is offering their SmokeShack, which includes applewood-smoked bacon, their signature sauce, and finely-chopped cherry peppers. The Bacon Cheeseburger, consisting of American cheese and applewood-smoked bacon, will be the free burger up for grabs from May 12 through May 18. The Avocado Bacon Burger, which just adds avocado on top of the regular bacon cheeseburger, will be available May 19 through May 25, and the original ShackBurger will be the free option from May 26 until June 1. Each customer is limited to one free burger. Interested patrons can get their free burger by ordering on the Shake Shack app or online with code 'BURGERMONTH,' or by visiting a store in-person. Shake Shack isn't the only burger joint to launch a special promotion in honor of National Burger Month. In April, Red Robin, the fast-casual restaurant chain, said it would be offering customers the chance to grab a Bottomless Burger Pass on the Red Robin website to use at any restaurant location for the duration of May, which also happens to be National Hamburger Month. These $20 black-and-gold passes will allow patrons to order one gourmet burger with a bottomless side of their choice for each day of the month. Customers will receive their specialized card in the mail, but supply is limited. What's more, Red Robin Royalty members who buy a burger and a drink during May will automatically be entered into a contest for the chance to win free burgers for the whole year. Only 12 people will be selected to win. The company already has a Bottomless Sides program in which customers can order either steak fries, garlic fries, sweet potato fries, or broccoli and receive free refills for their entire meal. Red Robin's new offers come after the fast-casual franchise reported a decrease in its 2024 fiscal fourth quarter total revenues compared to 2023. 'Total revenues are $285.2 million, a decrease of $23.8 million primarily due to the fourth quarter of fiscal 2024 including 12 operating weeks compared to 13 operating weeks in the fourth quarter of fiscal 2023,' the company's report reads, noting that the net loss was $39.7 million in this period, up from $13.7 million in 2023. As a result of these numbers, Red Robin said it's considering closing 70 restaurants once their lease is up, which would likely happen over the next five years.

National Burger Month is upon us and with it, four weeks' worth of deals from Shake Shack. May 28 is officially National Burger Day, but the entire month of May is also dubbed a time to celebrate the fast food classic. Fast causal chain Shake Shack has decided to spread the love beginning Thursday, May 1 with a rotating schedule of free burger creations to add to a purchase of $10 or more. "We are not picking favorites. Each week, we are offering a different Shake Shack single burger for free with a $10 minimum purchase," the company said in a press release. Here's what to know about getting yours. From May 1 through June 1, Shake Shack customers can get a free burger with a $10 or more purchase. A new burger will be offered each week of National Burger Month. May 1-11: Free SmokeShack - a fiery favorite topped with applewood-smoked bacon, chopped cherry peppers and ShackSauce May 12-18: Free Bacon Cheeseburger - a classic combo served with American cheese and applewood-smoked bacon May 19–25: Free Avocado Bacon Burger - topped with freshly sliced avocado, applewood-smoked bacon and American cheese May 26 – June 1: Free ShackBurger - an original icon topped with American cheese, lettuce, tomato and ShackSauce To snag a free burger, you have to make a purchase of $10 or more via the Shake Shack App, online at or in-store kiosks by using the promo code BURGERMONTH. Those all caps are important - make sure you type the offer code as above or it may not work. To get the deal, you must order via one of the above methods. The classic bacon cheeseburger is "perfection, baby," as co-owner Lana Radke, puts it. She prepared it for the Tallahassee Democrat topping the patties with a layer of crispy bacon, a gooey cheese melt and golden buns that hug it all together ($8.99). Switch it up with the patty melt served on toasted rye bread ($8.99). This spot expresses it's cozy, family friendly charm with its attentive staff and decor both inside and out, making it a standout. If you haven't been on social media lately, let us help you catch you. Trap Boy Burger has been open for only three months and as its name circulates around on all the socials, more people have been flocking to the spot to get their hands on the signature smash burger to try it for themselves. For $7.49 you can grab a single "Trap Boy Cheese Burger" topped with its signature sauce, pickles and onions. Order a side of its shoestring fries ($3.99) to dip in its craveable "Trap Boy Sauce." You may want to order this burger to go. While there are a few seats outdoors on the deck, you may want a little privacy once you get a bite. This isn't clean eating, especially if you get extra sauce on your burger. 2520 W. Located next to the Sunoco gas station on West Tharpe Street, this hidden gem decorated in woodchuck decor might take you by surprise. They tote a generous list of burgers, including the "King Kong" a double stack burger topped with 2 slices of cheese, stuffed with golden French fries ($12.75). The "Breakfast Burger" is made with an egg (prepared as guest choice) and crispy bacon piled between two pancake buns ($12.75). Pro tip, this burger deliciously pairs with funnel cake fries ($1.50).
