Shura deputy chairman receives Pakistan delegation

Said Hamad al Saadi, Deputy Chairman of Majlis Ash'shura, received a delegation from the National Defence University of Pakistan at the Council of Oman premises. The visit aims to familiarise the delegation with the Council's roles and competencies as part of their programme to visit various institutions in the Sultanate of Oman. Al Saadi welcomed the delegation, emphasising the importance of such visits, which aim to explore Oman's parliamentary experience and its role in transferring knowledge and expertise. He also praised the strong historical relations between the two friendly countries and the significance of enhancing them in various sectors, especially in parliamentary and academic fields. Al Saadi gave a short overview of the Majlis Ash'shura in the Sultanate of Oman and the transformations it has undergone, highlighting the Council's key roles and legislative competencies in accordance with the powers granted by the Oman Council Law. During their visit to the Majlis Ash'shura, the delegation toured the Council's building, where they viewed the deliberation hall and received a detailed explanation about the voting process and the management of sessions. The delegation also visited the Oman Council Library, exploring its contents and research services. The delegation members praised Oman's parliamentary experience, stressing the importance of strengthening cooperation between the National Defence University and relevant institutions in the Sultanate of Oman. They emphasised the exchange of experiences and knowledge to support the development of bilateral relations between the two countries in importance of consolidating such relations.

Oman and Pakistan defence institutions sign academic cooperation agreement

Muscat – Major General Hamed bin Ahmed Sakroon, Chairman of the Academy of Strategic and Defence Studies, hosted a delegation from the National Defence University of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan at his office in Mu'askar Bait Al Falaj today. The delegation was led by Lieutenant General Babar Iftikhar, Chairman of the National Defence University. During the meeting, both sides engaged in friendly discussions, focusing on areas of mutual interest, particularly in the academic and scientific fields. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on academic and scientific cooperation was signed between the Academy of Strategic and Defence Studies and the National Defence University of Pakistan. Major General Hamed bin Ahmed Sakroon signed the agreement on behalf of the Omani Academy, while Lieutenant General Babar Iftikhar signed on behalf of the Pakistani institution. The meeting and the signing of the MoU were attended by senior officers from the Academy of Strategic and Defence Studies, His Excellency the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to Oman, and the Military Attaché at the Pakistani Embassy in Muscat.
