Shura deputy chairman receives Pakistan delegation
Said Hamad al Saadi, Deputy Chairman of Majlis Ash'shura, received a delegation from the National Defence University of Pakistan at the Council of Oman premises. The visit aims to familiarise the delegation with the Council's roles and competencies as part of their programme to visit various institutions in the Sultanate of Oman.
Al Saadi welcomed the delegation, emphasising the importance of such visits, which aim to explore Oman's parliamentary experience and its role in transferring knowledge and expertise. He also praised the strong historical relations between the two friendly countries and the significance of enhancing them in various sectors, especially in parliamentary and academic fields.
Al Saadi gave a short overview of the Majlis Ash'shura in the Sultanate of Oman and the transformations it has undergone, highlighting the Council's key roles and legislative competencies in accordance with the powers granted by the Oman Council Law.
During their visit to the Majlis Ash'shura, the delegation toured the Council's building, where they viewed the deliberation hall and received a detailed explanation about the voting process and the management of sessions. The delegation also visited the Oman Council Library, exploring its contents and research services.
The delegation members praised Oman's parliamentary experience, stressing the importance of strengthening cooperation between the National Defence University and relevant institutions in the Sultanate of Oman. They emphasised the exchange of experiences and knowledge to support the development of bilateral relations between the two countries in importance of consolidating such relations.

State Council reviews study on diversifying Oman's sources of income
Muscat – The State Council discussed a study titled 'Mechanism for Diversifying Sources of Income in the Sultanate of Oman' during its fifth meeting on Monday. The study reviewed the current state of the Omani economy and existing sources of national income. It also outlined international experiences in tackling challenges related to income diversification and financial sustainability. Concluding the discussion, the study stressed the importance of exploring future opportunities and provided recommendations for diversifying income sources across various economic sectors. The Council also reviewed a report by the Social and Cultural Committee regarding its meeting with officials from the Social Protection Fund to discuss mechanisms for implementing the social protection system. Session discusses women's leadership empowerment
MUSCAT: A dialogue session titled "Women's Leadership Empowerment in Decision-Making Positions", was organised by the Ministry of Social Development in Muscat. The session discussed enhancing societal awareness on the importance of women's participation in electoral councils and highlighting their role in decision-making processes. The session, which included 70 women members of the State Council, Majlis Ash'shura, municipal councils, government institutions and Omani Women's Associations, aimed to motivate female leaders to participate effectively and confidently in electoral councils. It also addressed the legal, economic, intellectual and media enablers for women, alongside reviewing the role of civil society institutions in empowering Omani women and supporting their participation. The first session, titled "Strategies and Success Enablers", covered knowledge empowerment and capacity-building for women in leadership and strategic communication, women's empowerment in the private sector and their pioneering roles, as well as the legal and legislative frameworks supporting their participation in electoral councils and the associated challenges. The second session, titled "The Role of Civil Society Institutions and Media in Promoting Women's Participation in Electoral Councils", analysed the experience of Omani women in the Majlis Ash'shura and emphasised the role of civil society institutions and Omani Women's Associations in raising societal awareness of women's participation in the electoral process. The session also reviewed "The Parliamentary Experience in Childhood and Its Role in Leadership Empowerment." GCC Council hails Oman for facilitating US-Iran talks
KUWAIT: The Sultanate of Oman participated in the 164th session of the GCC Ministerial Council in Kuwait, which discussed the latest developments in joint Gulf cooperation across political, economic, security and developmental fields to enhance integration and prosperity in the region. Oman's delegation was headed by Sayyid Badr bin Hamad al Busaidy, Foreign Minister, while the session was chaired by Abdullah bin Ali al Yahya, Kuwait's Foreign Minister and current President of the Council, in the presence of GCC foreign ministers and the GCC Secretary-General. As for the humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip, the heads of delegations stressed the need to intensify efforts in cooperation with the international community to halt Israeli aggression, protect Palestinian civilians, ensure unimpeded humanitarian aid delivery and facilitate the safe return of displaced people. They underscored their firm stance demanding the withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza and all occupied Palestinian territories in accordance with international legitimacy resolutions. The Council commended the intensive efforts of Qatar, Egypt and the United States to reach a comprehensive ceasefire agreement in Gaza. Additionally, the Council welcomed the talks between the United States and the Islamic Republic of Iran, lauding Oman's role in hosting and facilitating these high-level discussions. It expressed support for these diplomatic efforts, emphasising the importance of dialogue in resolving disputes peacefully, and expressed hope that the talks would contribute to regional and international security and stability. As far as Syria is concerned, the Council welcomed the formation of the new Syrian government and viewed positively US President Donald Trump's response to lift sanctions on Syria, as well as the UK's announcement to amend or cancel certain sanctions.
