National Highways East have released an urgent message to drivers while work is done to clear the road. The post reads: "Please be patient while emergency services assess the incident, we'll try and get you moving again soon." Drivers have also been warned to expect delays. The accident comes on one of the busiest days to travel in the UK, as 17 million Brits hit the road on the bank holiday weekend. Friday was projected to be the busiest day, with a staggering 3 million journeys. However, Saturday was close behind with 2.9 million drivers expected to be on Britain's motorways. RAC Breakdown spokesperson Alice Simpson said: 'Although the Easter break was just two weeks ago, our figures suggest this weekend will still be hectic on the roads as millions take advantage of another bank holiday. 'This week's very warm weather may not last right into the weekend, but with lots of daylight hours, there's still plenty of opportunity to get out and about. 'For drivers that have a choice, it's best to avoid Friday evening as that's when leisure traffic will clash with commuter journeys.

Multiple injuries after coach fire and crashes
Multiple crashes and a coach fire meant a major road into Oxfordshire was closed for "a number of hours". Thames Valley Police confirmed it was called to the A34 southbound, between Abingdon Road and Fiddlers Lane junction, at 19:00 GMT on Friday. A force spokesperson said they received reports of collisions on the north and southbound carriageways. They said one person was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and "a number" of other people had been hurt but their injuries were not thought to be serious. National Highways East said there had also been a coach fire between the M4 and A4185 Chilton. Motorists were advised to avoid the area while the road closures were in place. The road has since reopened. Police have asked anyone with information about the incident to contact 101. Motorists facing 'long delays' after A12 crashes
Motorists are facing "long delays" after a rush-hour crash involving "possibly as many as six" vehicles on the A12. Emergency services were called to a multi-vehicle collision on the northbound carriageway between Colchester in Essex and Stratford St Mary in Suffolk, at 07:27 GMT. Police officers reported no injuries but shut the road so vehicles could be cleared, resulting in heavy congestion and delays of up to 45 minutes. According to National Highways East, which had advised drivers to allow extra time for their journeys, the scene has now been cleared but "long delays remain in the area". The crash was one of two on the A12 earlier - the other being a three-vehicle collision at the Boreham Interchange near Chelmsford at about 7:24 GMT. The incident did not result in any injuries and the road has since cleared. Follow Essex news on BBC Sounds, Facebook, Instagram and X. National Highways: Travel alerts
