MAHE Announces National Photography Contest 2025 Celebrating Monsoon's Cultural Tapestry
NewsVoir Manipal (Karnataka) [India], August 18: Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), an Institution of Eminence Deemed-to-be University, proudly presents MeghMalhar: A Tribute to Rain & Rhythm, the inaugural National Photography Contest 2025. The contest invites photographers across India to explore the multifaceted impact of monsoons through compelling visual narratives. This year's edition features a special category exclusively for MAHE students, "My MAHE, My Campus," encouraging participants from all five campuses--Manipal, Mangaluru, Bengaluru, Jamshedpur, and Dubai--to capture the spirit, charm, and uniqueness of their university life and surroundings. Organized in collaboration with the Youth Photographic Society Bengaluru (YPS) and supported by MAHE's Manipal Institute of Communication (MIC) and Manipal Institute of Social Sciences, Humanities & Arts (MISHA), the contest aims to celebrate India's rich monsoon heritage while fostering artistic excellence and visual storytelling. Submissions will be accepted till August 31, 2025, with participants encouraged to portray the essence of monsoons--from dramatic landscapes and cultural celebrations to intimate human stories and the season's influence on diverse communities. The Hindu photojournalists shine in national contest
Two photojournalists from The Hindu secured prizes, while two others received certificates of merit in the recently-held Andhra Pradesh Photo Journalists Association (APPJA) National Photography Contest 2025. The photography contest organised by APPJA saw participation from at least 135 photojournalists from Kolkata, Mumbai, New Delhi, Indore, Kerala, Goa, Karnataka, Chennai, Gujarat and Telangana. Around 550 photos were selected in the two sections. K.R. Deepak, chief photographer, The Hindu, Andhra Pradesh, received the first prize for his work titled 'Lightning', while K.V.S. Giri, senior special news photographer, The Hindu, Vijayawada, received the third prize for his work 'Save The New Generation' in the 'Spot News' category. Meanwhile, V. Raju, special news photographer, The Hindu, Visakhapatnam, received a certificate of merit for his work 'Struggle On The Road' and Vijay Kumar Soneji, special news photographer, The Hindu, Ahmedabad, received a certificate of merit for his work 'Plane Crash' in the same category. Awards would be presented to the winners on the World Photography Day on August 19 in Vijayawada. The event will be organised by the C.R. Media Academy of Andhra Pradesh and A.P. State Creativity and Culture Commission.
