Orlando weather: Temps to soar into the mid-90s, afternoon storms possible

The Brief Central Florida heats up again today, with inland highs soaring into the mid-90s and coastal areas reaching the upper 80s to low 90s. Afternoon showers and thunderstorms are also making a comeback, with some potentially turning strong. For the holiday weekend, a few showers and storms will be possible along with hot and humid temperatures. What to expect ORLANDO, Fla. - Hot temperatures make a return to Central Florida as afternoon highs climb well into the mid 90s for inland areas and closer to the upper 80s and low 90s along the coast. We'll also see the return of afternoon showers and storms, some of which could be on the strong side. Not everyone will see the rain. The best chances will exist mainly for areas to the southeast of the Orlando Metro. This includes southeastern Orange County, Brevard and Osceola counties. The SPC has placed parts of these same areas under a level 1 out of 5 risk for an isolated strong/severe storm or two. Impacts from any of these strong storms that get going will include strong winds, hail, heavy downpours, and frequent lightning. Any lingering rain gradually fades giving way to steady clearing. Morning lows will remain mild, falling into the upper 60s and 70s. Temps stay toasty to kick-off the weekend with highs even warmer. We'll be likely challenging some records too! Afternoon readings top out in the upper 90s with heat index values again near 100° if not a touch hotter. Lows dip back into the lower 70s along with just a few clouds. Looking ahead For the holiday weekend, a few showers and storms will be possible along with hot and humid temperatures. Afternoon highs will be approaching the mid 90s. Showers and storms will be pretty hit and miss for most of the weekend, with Saturday likely being the drier day of the two. This is when we will begin to see more of a sea-breeze and rainy season set up take shape. This means for Saturday, Sunday and Memorial Day Monday, be prepared for hot temperatures and scattered afternoon downpours and storms. The rest of the work week features daily rounds of afternoon showers and storms as well. Track live when storms move across your area using the FOX 35 Storm Tracker Radar below. Orlando weather: Sweltering heat and humidity leads to near record-high temperatures

The Brief Sweltering temperatures will continue as we wrap up the weekend. There is a possibility today of Orlando tying its previous record-high temperature of 97 degrees set back in 1930. The high temperatures will remain present as we kick off our workweek tomorrow. ORLANDO, Fla. - Sweltering temperatures will continue as we wrap up the weekend, and there is a possibility of Orlando tying its previous record-high temperature of 97 degrees set back in 1930. What To Expect Highs for today will climb back into the mid 90s for most areas with our heat index around 100°. With temperatures this hot, we could tie our previous record high in Orlando of 97° set back in 1930 with today's high of 97°. While the sea-breeze won't be much of a factor for most of the Central Florida beaches, that won't be the case for far southern Brevard County. This is where the sea-breeze will keep temperatures closer to the upper 80s and low 90s. Plus, this could help to spark a very isolated and brief downpour or two for far southern Brevard and perhaps southern Osceola County, as well. What's next Plan for mild and mostly-clear conditions overnight. Temperatures look to fall into the low and middle 70s. Dig deeper The strong ridge of high pressure persists for the start of the workweek in Central Florida. This means temperatures won't be budging much from what we've felt so far this weekend. In fact, high temperatures on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday will put previous record highs in jeopardy. Once we factor in humidity levels, our heat indices will peak right around the low 100s, as well. Relief from the heat looks to finally arrive near the end of the work week. This will be due to a fading cold front that will try to swing through Thursday, which is what will help to break down our ridge of high pressure that's kept us hot and dry. While the front itself won't be very impressive in terms of strength, it still appears likely that a few isolated showers and storms will be possible. We'll be keeping a close watch for any strong storms that try to get going, as well. Behind the front, temperatures on Friday and into Saturday will be much closer to our seasonable levels. Plan for highs in the upper 80s and low 90s into next weekend. Track live when storms move across your area using the FOX 35 Storm Tracker Radar below. Orlando weather: Strong storms possible on Thursday. See timeline, potential threats

The Brief Central Florida is in for another hot, humid, and stormy day, with highs in the upper 80s to low 90s fueling afternoon showers and thunderstorms. The strongest storms, expected between 4–9 p.m., may bring gusty winds, small hail, and heavy downpours. Friday's weather pattern features more of the same, with more afternoon thunderstorms likely. ORLANDO, Fla. - Thursday has been declared a FOX 35 Weather Impact Day due to numerous storms along and east of Interstate 4 this afternoon and night. Here's what you need to know. What to expect Another hot, humid, and stormy day is on the way for Central Florida. Afternoon highs will be back into the upper 80s and low 90s. This will help to fuel this afternoon's rain and storm chances. During the peak heating of the day, sea breeze boundaries will help to trigger scattered showers and storms. Some storms may be strong, producing gusty winds, small hail, and heavy downpours. Timeline Isolated downpours will begin to bubble up around 2 p.m. and 3 p.m., with the best chances of wet and stormy weather taking place from roughly 4 p.m. and 9 p.m. Storm activity will gradually fade after sunset, leaving us under partly cloudy skies overnight. Temperatures will remain warm and muggy, with lows around the low 70s. Looking ahead Friday's weather pattern features more of the same, with more afternoon thunderstorms likely as daytime heating interacts with lingering moisture. Highs will reach the upper 80s under a mix of sun and clouds. Rain chances decrease slightly for Saturday and Sunday, appearing more scattered. This would mean better news for any Mother's Day plans with the moms out there! Plan for highs in the mid to upper 80s humidity continues. A low-pressure looks to develop over the Gulf into early next week. This system is expected to bring additional moisture into the region, enhancing the likelihood of showers and storms. Heavy rain will be a safe bet for many Monday and into early Tuesday morning. The potential of a few strong storms exists during this same timeframe as well, but it's still a little too far out timing wise to get into a lot of the specifics. Orlando weather: Sunny and dry for now, but rain returns by the weekend

The Brief After a cool morning, temperatures rise into the 80s with a mix of sun and clouds; inland areas may reach the upper 80s. Friday turns hotter and remains dry, with highs near 90 degrees. Isolated storms possible Saturday; a front brings widespread rain Sunday and keeps wet weather around into early next week. What to expect ORLANDO, Fla. - After a pleasant start to the morning with temperatures in the 50s and 60s, temperatures will bounce back into the 80s this afternoon. Along the beaches, plan for highs in the low 80s. For inland areas, highs will close in on the mid to upper 80s. Conditions remain dry, with a mix of sunshine and clouds overhead. Clouds will build in the region overnight. Temperatures will fall back into the low to middle 60s for morning lows. Looking ahead Friday's forecast features slightly hotter temperatures and the return of sunshine and dry time. Highs will come just shy of 90 degrees tomorrow afternoon. This weekend, rain will finally make a welcomed return. For Saturday, highs will reach the upper 80s and low 90s. A few seabreeze showers and storms will be possible, but don't cancel your plans. Most of these downpours and storms will be isolated. By Sunday, a front moves into the Sunshine State and this is what will help to bring with us our next round of substantial rain to the region. This front will collide with the afternoon seabreeze and enhancing rain chances, specifically over the course of the afternoon hours. The same front looks to stall out over the region, helping to keep rain in the forecast into early next week. Track live when storms move across your area using the FOX 35 Storm Tracker Radar below.
