How Canada, Russia, EU figure in UPBJP's campaign on 11 years of Modi govt

Lucknow: If medical treatment of over nine crore people under Ayushman scheme was more than twice the population of Canada, the construction of 12 crore toilets under Swachh Bharat Abhiyan surpassed the total population of Canada and Italy taken together. Likewise, the laying of more than 42 lakh km of optical fibre in the country was almost 11 times the distance between earth and moon. That's how the UP BJP has portrayed the scale of welfare measures and developmental initiatives rolled out during the 11 years of Narendra Modi government. The depictions came through social media posts even as the saffron outfit geared up to celebrate 11 years of PM Narendra Modi in office. The comparisons were seen as BJP's bid to simplify the figure and create relatability for people by comparing with a known, developed nation. This is especially true in case of construction of toilets under Swachh Bharat Abhiyan which underlined the massive scale of sanitation efforts, crucial for rural health and dignity—especially for women. Similarly, the metaphor vis-à-vis optical fibre, a senior BJP leader said, was meant to emphasize the depth of digital connectivity achieved even in remote areas, tying into the broader 'Digital India' vision. This is not all. The number of loans disbursed under Mudra scheme – 52.5 crore – is shown as more than the total population of US, Russia and Australia taken together. "Naya Bharat! Abhutpurva Scale! (New India! Unprecedented scale)" the party mentioned in one of the posts. Analysts said that by comparing Mudra loan beneficiaries to entire nations' populations, the BJP sought to underscore how deeply and widely its economic policies managed to penetrate. It tends to give a sense that almost every third Indian has been touched by the scheme—a powerful narrative to the informal sector, small traders, and aspiring entrepreneurs.

PM Modi's latest warning to Pakistan from Bihar: ‘Fight against terror has neither ended nor halted'

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday warned Pakistan that Operation Sindoor was 'just an arrow ' in India's "quiver' and underlined that the war on terror is neither over nor has it come to a halt. 'The enemy has seen the power of Operation Sindoor. They should understand that this is just one arrow in our quiver," Modi said while addressing an event in Bihar's Karakat. 'India's fight against terrorism has neither stopped nor halted.' Modi also likened terror to a serpent, saying, 'If it raises its hood again, it will be dragged out of its hole and trampled'. The prime minister was addressing the rally in Karakat, around 140 km from Patna, after inaugurating development projects worth close to ₹50,000 crore. During the rally, Modi recalled his visit to Madhubani district last month after the Pahalgam attack on April 22 that left 26 people dead. 'I had come to Bihar a day after the dastardly attack in Pahalgam, where many of our sisters had lost their husbands. I had promised that the perpetrators would get a punishment that they could not even dream of. Today, I am back in Bihar, after having delivered on the promise,' Modi said. Further referring to India's Operation Sindoor, Modi said that Pakistan and the world have seen the power of "sindoor" (vermilion) of the daughters of India. "We also destroyed Pakistan's airbases and their military establishments. This is new India (Naya Bharat), and its power is there for all to behold," the prime minister said. He likened his sacrifice to the valour of Veer Kunwar Singh, the legendary king of Jagdishpur in Bihar, who is considered one of the heroes of the Revolt of 1857.

‘Ignore Me…': Kunal Kamra Reacts After Devendra Fadnavis Calls His Shinde Remark 'Worthless'

Last Updated: Kunal Kamra was replying to Devendra Fadnavis, who earlier today, called the former "worthless" and suggested that he should be "politically ignored." Stand-up comedian Kunal Kamra, who triggered a massive controversy with his recent ' gaddar ' remark directed at Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, has urged Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to 'ignore" him. He further challenged Fadnavis saying that he would be organising his stand-up comedy shows in Maharashtra's Thane, New Mumbai, Mumbai, Pune, Nasik, Nagpur, Aurangabad later in October this year, so if he along with Eknath Shinde could 'ignore" him during the shows. Kamra was replying to Fadnavis, who earlier today, called the former 'worthless" and suggested that he should be 'politically ignored." Speaking at an event organised by The Indian Express, Fadnavis remarked, 'I believe politically ignoring such people would be wiser. Inki Aukat Nahi Hai (They are not worth it), by reacting, you only elevate their stature. There's no need to give them that importance… Sometimes, especially in our party and our ally Shiv Sena, we are emotional people. We are not practical politicians. Our emotions often lead to reactions. Because of these reactions, he (Kunal Kamra) gained more attention. Otherwise, not even four people would listen to him." Later, responded sarcastically to Fadnavis' statement on social media. Sharing a clip of the Chief Minister's remarks, he said, 'Hello Devendra Fadnavis, you're right. Politically, it's better to ignore me. I have no 'aukat' & only 4 people watch my show. Please, can I be ignored? In October, I was planning shows in Thane, Navi Mumbai, Mumbai, Pune, Nashik, Nagpur, and Aurangabad. Please coordinate with Mr Shinde & his Sena if I can be ignored." Kunal Kamra Row Kamra stoked a row after giving a spin-off to a popular Hindi song in which he took a veiled dig at Shinde, calling him a 'gaddar" (traitor). He allegedly referred to the 2022 Maharashtra political crisis in which Shinde led the collapse of Uddhav Thackeray's state government. Recorded in February, the programme called 'Naya Bharat' was uploaded on Kamra's YouTube channel on March 23, drawing strong reactions from the Shiv Sainiks. Shiv Sena leaders condemned his remarks, demanding an unconditional apology from him. The controversy escalated into violence when Yuva Sena, the youth wing of Shinde's Shiv Sena, vandalised the Habitat comedy venue where the show was filmed. Despite having multiple clashes with the BJP-led Centre in the past, the comedian has refused to apologise for his remark but had expressed willingness to cooperate with the police. Three separate cases were filed against the stand-up comedian at Khar police station, with one complaint lodged by the Mayor of Jalgaon city and the other two by a hotelier and a businessman from Nashik, according to the Mumbai Police. For the unversed, Kamra, in 2019 and 2024, contributed to the crowdfunding drive launched by Kanhaiya Kumar, who was then a Congress candidate from northeast Delhi, against the Bharatiya Janata Party's Manoj Tiwari. Balasaheb Thackeray would have hugged PM Modi for Operation Sindoor, says Amit Shah

Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: Union home minister Amit Shah on Monday criticised Shiv Sena (UBT) for terming the all-party delegation sent abroad by govt to present India's position on terrorism as "Baraat", and said that had Balasaheb Thackeray been alive, he would have "hugged" Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the success of Operation Sindoor . Shah also took a swipe at Sharad Pawar, saying the NCP veteran never pushed for Marathi to be given classical language status when he was in power. "Modi did what Pawar couldn't," he said. Shah on Monday formally kick-started BJP's campaign for the upcoming civic body elections across Maharashtra, with an address at the Shankhnad Mahasabha in Nanded. On May 6, the Supreme Court had directed the Maharashtra election commission to notify civic body polls within four months. Addressing the huge rally, Shah said that even Shiv Sena (UBT) MPs were a part of the all-party delegation that was sent by PM Modi to expose Pakistan globally for its support to terrorism. "Yet, a top leader of Shiv Sena (UBT) mocked it saying 'Yeh kiski baraat jaa rahi hai?' [Whose wedding procession is this?]," Shah said, without naming MP Sanjay Raut. Opening his speech with a reference to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, Shah said, "Pakistan-sponsored terrorists killed innocent civilians, and PM Modi then declared from Patna that wherever the culprits are hiding, they will be identified and reduced to dust. The operation was a marker of Naya Bharat (New India) under Modi's leadership, he said, and added: "PM Modi named the action 'Operation Sindoor' to symbolise the sacred dignity of our mothers and sisters. Those who dare touch that sindoor will pay with blood." The Union minister also highlighted Operation Black Forest in Chhattisgarh, where close to 70 Naxals were killed in two successive operations. "Many Naxals have surrendered. I promise that by March 31, 2026, we will eliminate Naxalism from the face of India," Shah said. He lauded Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis for launching a massive water grid project in Marathwada. "Every village in Marathwada will have water in five years. This project was stalled by the then MVA govt, but now, under BJP's leadership, it is back on track. We will bring water from Konkan to solve this crisis," he said. Shah said Maharashtra will lead India's development journey. "Modi has set 2047 as the target for making India a world leader. Maharashtra will be the first to get there — and the rest will follow."

BJP counter to Opp questions on Op Sindoor – ‘measured' statements, India's ‘new normal' and a song

As the dust around Operation Sindoor settles and the Opposition raises questions about the circumstances of the ceasefire with Pakistan, the national leadership of the BJP has decided to 'underline specific military and non-military achievements through measured statements' as a counter. BJP sources said that the party's communication would focus mainly on the amplification of operational details provided by the defence and diplomatic establishments. This will be in addition to reiterating the decisions taken by the BJP-led NDA government in the aftermath of the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22, they said. A party leader said that key to countering the Opposition's narrative would be communicating the 'ongoing' nature of Operation Sindoor and the capability of a 'Naya Bharat' to strike at 'the heart of Pakistan' as well as India's 'new normal' of taking the heat to terror camps deep across the border, along with the reiteration of 'non-military actions'. 'The decision to suspend the Indus Waters Treaty, discontinue trade with Pakistan, prohibit Pakistani actors from working in India and change in approach to tackle terror on Indian soil, as pointed out by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his address to the nation on Monday, will be highlighted,' a source said, adding that state units would be pressed into action to spread the BJP's message at the grassroots level. Sources said North East Delhi MP and Bhojpuri singer Manoj Tiwari has prepared a song – likely to be released in the coming days – to underline the valour of the armed forces, India's 'never-before retaliation' under Modi's leadership, and the 'response' to countries like Turkey and Azerbaijan, who backed Pakistan and supplied drones to it. Currently, the party is also on an 11-day, nationwide 'Tiranga Yatra' to highlight the success of Operation Sindoor. Another source pointed out that the party will seek to counter the Congress which, after the announcement of a ceasefire on Saturday, has been invoking former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi's 'strong actions' during the 1971 India-Pakistan war to slam the government's 'meek response'. 'A lot of false propaganda is being spread regarding how India's actions under the Modi government have been pale in comparison to those taken by Gandhi. We will make people aware about the several lacunae in that narrative,' the source said, adding that the action taken under Operation Sindoor was the most precise that 'any government in the world' could have taken in a conflict involving two nuclear powers. On the other hand, a leader admitted that the BJP's next challenge would be to 'dispel the myth surrounding US intervention in brokering the peace' and said the party had begun highlighting past instances of 'US interventions' under various Congress-led governments. 'We will counter the Congress's claims and question its so-called support to the government while underlining that the issue of Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK) is a bilateral one, with no space for mediation by a third party,' the leader said.
