‘Lawbreakers': Kunal Kamra's new parody targets Mahayuti over Maharashtra Assembly scuffle
Kamra's montage, posted on social media, featured clips of the scuffle edited to his controversial 'Hum Honge Kamyaab' song. Captioning the video as 'lawbreakers', the footage also included shots of Maharashtra chief minister Devendra Fadnavis and deputy chief minister Eknath Shinde, in an apparante dig to the ruling Mahayuti alliance.
The song used in the video is the same as the one he performed during his stand-up special Naya Bharat in March, where he had referred to Eknath Shinde as a 'gaddar' (traitor), drawing sharp reactions from Shinde's camp.
Following his stand-up special earlier this year, Kamra faced backlash from members of the Shiv Sena's youth wing, Yuva Sena. The group vandalised the Habitat Comedy Club in Mumbai's Khar area, where Kamra had performed and recorded the show.
The new montage appears to be a continuation of his ongoing commentary on the state's political leadership. Kunal Kamra, known for his quirky political satires, had earlier refused to apologise despite facing backlash. He had firmly condemned the violence.
Brawl erupts outside Maharashtra Assembly
Kamra's post comes after a scuffle broke out between supporters of BJP MLA Gopichand Padalkar and NCP-SP leader Jitendra Awhad at the Maharashtra Legislature complex on Thursday.
Video footage of the incident, which went viral, showed members of both groups in a heated confrontation outside the Assembly. Awhad later alleged that he was physically threatened and verbally abused during the clash.
'The whole of Maharashtra knows who the attacker was. We are being asked for evidence again and again, while the whole country has seen who carried out the attack. Goons are being allowed to enter the assembly, posing a threat to the safety of the MLAs. I was abused, threatened with death. Abusive words like 'dog', 'pig' were used. Was this what was expected to happen in the assembly?' Awhad told reporters.
Raising concerns over lawmaker safety, he added, 'I just came out after giving a speech, and these people came to confront me. If MLAs are not safe in the assembly, then why should we remain MLAs?'
'Goons have reached Vidhan Sabha'
BJP MLA Gopichand Padalkar called the incident 'unfortunate' and offered an apology. 'I am really saddened by what occurred here. This is an unfortunate incident...I express my regret and apologise...' he said.
Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Uddhav Thackeray criticised the Mahayuti government, saying, 'If goons have reached Vidhan Sabha, then state home minister and chief minister (Devendra Fadnavis) should take responsibility for it. This is very unfortunate. Such conduct at the Vidhan Sabha is not appropriate,' he said.
Congress MLA Nana Patole also condemned the violence and urged immediate action. 'We condemn the incident. Maharashtra Vidhan Sabha has always had a tradition...Our examples are cited and taken pride in, across the country. But what happened on the Vidhan Sabha premises today should not happen again – the Assembly Speaker and the CM should take care of this.'
He further compared the situation to the 2001 Parliament attack. 'Mumbai is always on high alert. In times like these, with a large number of people accompanying MLAs and ministers, it is a very serious matter that they endanger the security of the Vidhan Sabha. Even the Parliament was not safe; it was also attacked during the Atal Bihari Vajpayee government's rule. I believe this is not the sole responsibility of the Speaker. All public representatives should take care of this,' Patole said.

NCP seeks cancellation of draft of PCMC's development plan
Pune: Members of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) carried out a protest march — from Shagun Chowk in Pimpri to the PCMC headquarters — on Thursday, voicing strong opposition to the draft of the development plan (DP) prepared by the civic body. They demanded that the draft, published online more than two-and-a-half months ago for public feedback, be cancelled as there were incorrect reservations in it and that would affect a large number of residents. PCMC (Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation) is soon likely to start conducting hearings on the suggestions and objections submitted by July 14, the deadline. One of the protesters was Pimpri MLA Anna Bansode, who is also the deputy speaker of the assembly. He said, "Nearly 50,000 suggestions and objections were received on this draft of the DP. However, we have demanded that it be cancelled as incorrect reservations were marked in it." However, after analysing it thoroughly, it appears that the whole draft must be cancelled as it is beyond corrections." The NCP members also highlighted alleged irregularities and discrepancies in the draft, accusing the corporation of exacerbating the city's long-standing issues rather than resolving them. Rioters in Sambhal face the wrath of 'Mahakal': CM Yogi Adityanath
Sambhal, Aug 7 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath lashed out at political rivals and historical wrongs, declaring Sambhal a sacred symbol of Hindu faith. CM Yogi took aim at foreign invaders, Congress, and the Samajwadi Party, warning that 'those who sinned against Sambhal will face stern retribution.' CM was in Sambhal on Thursday where he inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for 222 development projects worth Rs 659 crore in Bahjoi. Addressing a public gathering on the occasion, CM Yogi while launching a sharp attack on foreign invaders, unveiled Sambhal's suppressed history. He said the town once boasted 68 pilgrimage sites, 19 sacred wells, and traditional 24- and 84-kos parikrama routes — all desecrated and destroyed by invaders. These holy sites were taken over, and a deliberate attempt was made to erase the truth, he asserted. Calling it a 'malicious conspiracy,' CM Yogi Adityanath vowed to restore all 68 shrines and 19 sacred wells in Sambhal. Citing Lokmata Ahilyabai Holkar's revival of Kashi Vishwanath and Somnath temples, he pledged a similar renaissance for Sambhal's heritage. 'True development,' he said, 'lies in preserving legacy while shaping the golden dreams of today and tomorrow.' Emphasizing Sambhal's spiritual significance, CM Yogi said it is a sacred land of both Hari (Vishnu) and Har (Shiva), and foretold in scriptures like the Shrimad Bhagavat, Skanda, and Vishnu Puranas as the birthplace of Lord Kalki in Kaliyug. Hitting out at those who label Hindu traditions as controversial, he said, 'Their background is controversial, so they see our heritage the same way — but this is not up for dispute.' He warned that all such malicious attempts to undermine Sanatan Dharma will be firmly crushed. Referencing the revival of Kashi and Ayodhya, CM Yogi asked, 'If they can be restored, why not Sambhal?' He reaffirmed his government's resolve to rejuvenate Lord Kalki's shrine and Harihar Dham. Taking aim at Congress and SP, he said, 'Congress orchestrated mass killings here, and SP, as its disciple, shielded the murderers. Never forget their sins against Sambhal.' 'They hid the truth of post-independence massacres out of fear of losing their vote bank,' said CM Yogi Adityanath. 'We are not here for vote bank politics- we are here to preserve our heritage. Those who shame India and its values will be taught a lesson their future generations won't forget.' Taking a tough stand against rioters and anarchists, CM Yogi said past governments allowed riots, lawlessness, and exploitation to flourish. 'Girls weren't safe, traders weren't safe. But today, every citizen in UP is secure—except the rioters. Mahakal is delivering justice,' he stated. The Chief Minister emphasized that the evil intentions of those trying to hide the truth of Sambhal will be crushed. 'Those who sinned against Sambhal will face punishment. Those trying to hinder Sambhal's development will pay the price. Those who desecrate the holy sites of Sanatan Dharma will also pay the price', he said. Highlighting his government's achievements, CM Yogi said that over the past eight years, 8.5 lakh jobs have been provided, including the recent police recruitment of 60,200 youth. He slammed previous governments, saying they nurtured one mafia per district, whereas his government is promoting the 'One District, One Product' scheme. He mentioned key welfare initiatives such as housing for the poor, free ration, grants for daughters' weddings, and health services. Highlighting the upcoming festivals, CM Yogi noted that August 9 marks both Raksha Bandhan and Kakori Train Action Memorial Day, followed by Independence Day on August 15 and Shri Krishna Janmashtami on August 16. Echoing PM Modi's call, he urged citizens to hoist the national flag. Praising the resilience of Sambhal's people, he said they faced riots with courage and never bowed down. He assured them that the double-engine government is firmly committed to both heritage preservation and development. CM Yogi said the projects inaugurated today are just a glimpse of what's to come. He highlighted that 222 projects worth ₹659 crore have been launched in Sambhal, covering education, vocational training, drinking water, roads, Anganwadi centres, and infrastructure for composite schools. If Dhananjay Munde is made minister again, Ajit Pawar's party will be finished, says Jarange
Kolhapur: Reservation activist Manoj Jarange on Wednesday said Dhananjay Munde would not be reinstated as a minister, warning that such an appointment would lead to the downfall of Ajit Pawar 's party. Speaking in Sangli after a meeting with Maratha activists, Jarange outlined plans for a march on Mumbai scheduled for Aug 29. Recently, NCP president and deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar, who also serves as the guardian minister of Munde's home district of Beed, suggested that Munde might return to the state cabinet after he is cleared of accusations against him. Munde was removed from the cabinet following the public revelation of the murder of Massajog sarpanch Santosh Deshmukh. Valmik Karad, a close aide of Munde, is one of the accused in the murder case. "Don't even think in your dreams that Munde will be made minister again. It is not so easy now. Ajit Pawar's party will be finished. We will not leave those who cause injustice against the poor," said Jarange. The Maratha activist from Jalna criticised the ongoing administration under Ajit Pawar, stating that the system remained unchanged. "The system is as it was. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like They Were So Beautiful Before; Now Look At Them; Number 10 Will Shock You Reportingly Undo How will any change come? Pawar should remove all the officials who have been sitting on various posts for years. He should transfer them and bring officers from outside. The crime rate has not decreased. Before I left for this tour, three murders had taken place in Beed and Parli. Where is the change?" Jarange asked. Appealing to fellow Marathas in govt, Jarange urged ministers and MLAs to support the demand for granting Kunbi status to all Marathas for eligibility into the OBC quota. "Marathas in govt don't raise their voice for poor Marathas. I also appeal to Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar, both Marathas, to join us and stand with us. The community will never forget you. There might be differences between both; let them keep that aside. Otherwise, both will be finished," he said. Regarding the planned protest, Jarange announced that Azad Maidan in Mumbai would serve as the focal point of the protest. "The turnout of Marathas will be historic. We have sought BKC ground, Shivaji Park, and a few others where Marathas will stay during the protest period," added Jarange.
