KUWAIT CITY, July 7: The Kuwait volleyball team will kick off the inaugural West Asian Men's Championship, scheduled to take place in the Kingdom of Bahrain from July 17 to 27, with an opening match against Oman, followed by games against Saudi Arabia and Qatar. The tournament draw placed Kuwait in Group B alongside Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Oman, while Group A consists of Bahrain, Jordan, the UAE, and Lebanon. The national team delegation departed yesterday morning for Tunisia, where they will hold a 10-day training camp to prepare for the championship. The delegation is led by Nayef Al-Khamili, Assistant Secretary of the Federation, and includes team administrator Mohammed Al-Balushi. The coaching staff is headed by Argentine coach Julian Al-Fayez, assisted by Zaid Al-Kazemi. The team's fitness coach is Kozak, with Lux serving as statistician, and Mohammed Al-Yamam as physiotherapist. The squad also includes 14 players.

KUWAIT CITY, July 5: The Kuwait national men's volleyball team has been drawn into the highly competitive Group B—dubbed the 'Fiery Group'—for the first West Asian Men's Volleyball Championship, alongside regional powerhouses Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Oman. Group A features Bahrain, Jordan, the UAE, and Lebanon. The draw took place via video conference and was attended by Nayef Al-Khamili, Assistant Secretary-General of the Kuwait Volleyball Association, who extended his best wishes to the team. He emphasized the importance of this regional competition in showcasing the development of Kuwait's volleyball talent. The team will depart for Tunisia tomorrow (Monday) for a training camp running through July 17, ahead of the championship's kickoff in Manama, Bahrain, on July 19. The camp will include four friendly matches, providing valuable experience, particularly for younger squad members. Al-Khamili, who also heads the delegation, stated, "The Tunisia camp will play a crucial role in building team chemistry and match readiness, especially for our young and promising talents." The Kuwaiti delegation includes administrator Mohammed Malallah, Argentine head coach Julian Alvarez, national assistant coach Zaid Al-Kazemi, physiotherapist Mohammed Al-Yamam, referee Hussein Abdul-Ali, and 14 players. Assistant coach Zaid Al-Kazemi acknowledged the difficulty of the draw, saying, "We've landed in a very strong group, but we will treat every match like a final. If we want top results, we must fight for every point.' Al-Kazemi added that the team's foundation is built on youthful energy and ambition, supported by a core of experienced players. He stressed the importance of long-term planning and continued support, noting that these young athletes, with proper development, have the potential to shape Kuwait's volleyball future. He also highlighted the team's preparations, which began in June, with an emphasis on physical fitness and individual skill development. Al-Khamili confirmed that following the domestic training phase, the Board of Directors of the Kuwait Volleyball Federation approved an external training camp in Tunisia, scheduled from July 4 to 16. The 'Blue Volleyball Team' will head directly from Tunisia to Bahrain to compete in the regional tournament. Al-Khamili praised the Federation's efforts in supporting the national team, stating: 'All available resources have been allocated to ensure the Blue Team is fully prepared to compete strongly in the first edition of the championship.' He emphasized the role of the national team's technical staff, led by Argentinian head coach Julian and assistant coach Zaid Al-Kazemi, who have laid out an intensive training program aimed at enhancing players' physical and tactical readiness. This program will continue up to the team's departure for Tunisia and will focus heavily on game strategies and friendly matches during the camp. KUWAIT CITY, April 28: The Premier Volleyball League concludes today with a high-stakes clash between Kuwait Club and Kazma at 6:00 pm at the Volleyball Association Hall, located in the Sheikh Saad Al-Abdullah Sports Complex in Sabah Al-Salem. Heading into the final, Kuwait Club leads the Premier League standings with 10 points, closely followed by Kazma with 9 points. Burgan sits in third with 8 points, Al-Arabi follows with 6 points, Qadsia holds 3 points, and Al-Shabab remains at the bottom with no points. Meanwhile, in the First Division, two matches are scheduled: Al-Tadamon will face Yarmouk, while Al-Sahel takes on Al-Sulaibikhat. Kuwait Club, Kazma, Burgan, and Al-Arabi have already secured their spots in the Premier Volleyball Championship semifinals. In Friday's semifinals, Kuwait Club will meet Al-Arabi, and Kazma will face Burgan. The semifinals will be played in a best-of-three playoff format. The winners of each series will advance to the final, scheduled for May 9. In case of a tie, an additional playoff match will be organized. The championship final is set for May 12. In youth competition, Qadsia captured the Under-14 League title with a thrilling 3-2 victory over Kuwait in the final. Al-Arabi secured second place, while Kazma finished third. The Under-14 League Cup was presented to Qadsia by Assistant Secretary of the Volleyball Association Nayef Al-Khamili, Board Member Nayef Al-Failakawi, Competitions Committee Rapporteur Aref Al-Subaihi, and Qadsia Club Board Member Dr. Hussein Al-Qabandi. In women's volleyball, Al Fatat Club clinched the Under-18 General League title after defeating Salwa Al Sabah Club 3-2 in a tightly contested final. Salwa Al Sabah finished second, while Al Oyoun Girls Club secured third place. The top three teams were crowned by Volleyball Federation President Dr. Jaber Al Marri, Women's Committee President Dr. Istiqlal Al Raqam, Salwa Al Sabah Club Vice President Naila Al Ali, and Al Fatat Club Secretary Hamida Al Yousfi.

KUWAIT CITY, April 12: Kuwait Club secured its seventh Volleyball Super Cup title by defeating Al-Arabi 3-0 in the final, with set scores of 25-18, 25-21, and 25-18 at the Volleyball Association Hall in the Sheikh Saad Al-Abdullah Complex. The team was crowned by Federation President Dr. Jaber Al-Marri, Assistant Secretary General Nayef Al-Khamili, Chairman of the Competitions Committee Dr. Jaber Al-Sharif, Kuwait Club President Khaled Al-Ghanim, and club board member Balsam Al-Ayoub. Al-Qadsiya Club has won the Super Cup once, while Kazma Club has claimed it twice. In related news, the Volleyball Association's Competitions Committee has revised the schedules for the Premier League, Golden Square, and First Division League. This adjustment was made following a request from the national team coach, Argentinian Julian Alvarez, who sought sufficient time for the Blues to prepare for the upcoming West Asian Championship in Bahrain, set to begin on July 1. The Premier League, which was initially divided into two divisions before the Golden Square, will now be a single division. It starts today with matches between Kuwait and Burgan and Al-Shabab and Al-Qadsiya, and will conclude on May 29. The Golden Square will begin with the Premier League final on May 2 and conclude on May 13. Meanwhile, the First Division League will begin tomorrow, Monday, and will be split into two divisions, with the season concluding on May 10.
