'Weird' Emmerdale villain set for shock return for revenge on popular character

A "weird" Emmerdale villain is set for a return to the ITV soap to seek revenge on one character. Dr Crowley, played by James Hillier, last appeared on the show in March. Now, he is coming back to the show to seek revenge on Joe Tate (Ned Porteous). The villain was at the centre of many theories during his previous storyline with Joe. Joe Tate hired the shady doctor to treat him and secure him a kidney transplant after being diagnosed with chronic kidney disease. Joe and Dr Crowley spiked Joe's half-brother, Noah Dingle, but he proved not to be a match. Joe's paternal half-uncle, Caleb Miligan, was later found to be a match, so Joe took his kidney after Caleb was stabbed. Dr Crowley transplanted it into Joe before fleeing the country, with it later revealed that he may have told Joe a fake name. At the time of the storyline, Emmerdale viewers were full of theories surrounding the dodgy doctor. A post was made on the r/Emmerdale Reddit page, one fan said: "I just find Dr Crowley such a weird addition to the show and Joe's storyline. "Something is telling me that either he isn't really a doctor, or he has ties to the Tates. "Why would he help Joe and go to so much length and secrecy to do so? How comes only Joe has seen him, and no one's seen him sneaking into home farm?" They also questioned why the relationship between Joe and Crowley appeared to be "a bit closer than doctor and patient". Another said: "He's probably just some dodgy private doctor willing to go to lengths as Joe is willing to pay." However, others questioned whether he was a real doctor at all. Now, the villain is on his way back to Emmerdale to exact revenge on Joe. Spoilers for this week reveal that Joe wakes up in a makeshift hospital after being knocked out. Dr Crowley is revealed to be watching over Joe, with the exact nature of his revenge unknown. Some fans believe he has a connection to a character already on the show. One said: "Omg it's the doctor that Kim's dating." Another added: "I think Crowley is Kim's new interest." Teasing the situation to The Sun, actor Ned Porteous, who plays Joe, spoke about the moment his character wakes up to see the doctor looking on. He said: "[Joe's] very confused, very scared. A very powerless situation for Joe to be in." On working with James again, he added: "He's a really, really lovely guy. Emmerdale villain to make shock return – just months after dramatic exit

AN EMMERDALE villain is making a shock return to the village - just months after his dramatic exit. The ITV soap is bringing back the mysterious Dr Crowley for a revenge plot against Joe Tate. 2 2 Viewers will remember that Crowley was the doctor who helped Joe in his organ steaming scam. With Joe needing a new organ to survive, Joe paid the doctor handsomely to illegal operate on an unwilling victim in order to save Joe's life. He ended up taking Caleb Miligan's kidney after he was stabbed and transplanting it into Joe before fleeing the country. However he will now make a shock return and take Joe captive with a fiendish plan. Actor James Hillier will be back on screens next week as part of the plot. Joe actor Ned Porteous has opened up about the moment Joe finds himself knocked out and coming to in a makeshift operating theatre while the bad doctor looks on. "[Joe's] very confused, very scared,' he said. 'A very powerless situation for Joe to be in." And talking about working with James again, Ned said: "He's a really, really lovely guy. "I enjoy working with him, and the character that he built is fun, it's got more dimensions than just a helper, and it serves as a very interesting character going forward. Watch the moment Emmerdale's Caleb tries to KILL Joe after discovering the truth about his stolen kidney "Hopefully the audience likes what we do with it, because it all gets a bit crazy." He added of Joe: "I like to believe that he's just doing what he has to do to survive, and I think if you were to hold that mirror up to everyone and say, 'What would you do if your life really depended on it?' Could you really ask yourself... you wouldn't do that? "People say that they wouldn't want to, and it's not the right thing to do. Of course it's the wrong thing to do, it's completely unethical, it's completely immoral, but he was fighting for his life and now he's just having to pick up the scraps, I guess."

The end ‘confirmed' for Joe in Emmerdale as nemesis comes out of the shadows

An unexpected figure looms up in Emmerdale soon as Joe Tate (Ned Porteous)'s blackmail storyline reaches crunch point – and Joe finds himself in some very deep trouble. Just as Joe was recovering from his surgery after stealing Caleb Miligan (William Ash)'s kidney, and was looking forward to a more settled future with Dawn (Olivia Bromley) and the kids and building a business empire with Kim Tate (Claire King), his car was keyed and he started getting blackmailing letters. The kind of note that's made from cut-up bits of newspaper started appearing mysteriously around Home Farm bearing ominous messages. And having made enemies of almost everyone in the village thanks to the kidney stealing and his actions leading to the deaths of three women in the limo crash, there were plenty of suspects. 'I think there's enough people in the village who have it in for Joe, who could warrant a reason to be blackmailing him,' Ned Porteous told us. Soon the messages become demands for money – an eye-wateringly large sum, though Ned said that the cash wasn't the most worrying aspect for his character. 'It's less the money, more the idea that someone had got into the house because that's the feeling you've lost your safe bubble when someone breaks in to your kitchen and left the note. That's the home of the people that you really care about. He's more worried about the fact that his girl and her kids are going to be in danger.' It's Joe who's in immediate danger when he gets into a dispute with his henchman, Shaun (James Boyland), who then turns on him threateningly. Joe is saved on that occasion by unlikely hero Sam Dingle (James Hooton). But when Sam's not around, Shaun strikes again and hits Joe with a shovel, knocking him out cold. And when he wakes up, he has a terrible realisation. He's in a makeshift hospital room with rogue surgeon Crowley (James Hillier) looming over him. 'He's very confused and very scared and not sure where he is. Getting knocked out by surprise is, I'm sure, not very fun and then waking up somewhere with this guy… it's a very powerless situation for Joe to be in, which he's not a fan of.' Emmerdale villain gets pushed out of window in dramatic scenes - but who shoved him and will he survive?

Emmerdale villain Joe Tate was pushed out of a window in a vengeful act in Thursday's episode. In dramatic scenes, the character, played by Ned Porteous, was found in a heap outside after seemingly being shoved from the first floor during a surprise party. Joe has been at the centre of a series of significant storylines during his on-and-off run on the soap. He left the Yorkshire village in 2005 after 10 years before returning in 2017, but a year later he was seemingly murdered by nemesis Cain Dingle in a chaotic climax. To viewers' shock, he made a second comeback at Christmas but has since been racking up the enemies, attacking two Dingles in a bid to get a kidney amid his dialysis treatment, while also having an affair with Dawn Fletcher. His behaviour appears to have come back to bite him in Thursday's episode as chaos unfolded at a birthday do for Lydia Dingle leaving Joe fighting for his life. In dramatic scenes, the character, played by Ned Porteous, was found in a heap outside after seemingly being shoved from the first floor during a surprise party (pictured) And fans have gone wild with speculation as to who committed the act against Emmerdale's most hated character. 'A part of me is thinking Kerry or Noah but I could be completely wrong.' 'Really enjoyed tonight's episode. True whodunnit set up, nicely done with a nod to the past (Tom King's window). #Emmerdale' 'I'm calling it It was Clemmie #Emmerdale' 'Was he trying to clean the windows and slipped?' 'I think I'm calling Lucas atm tbh' 'Emmerdale! I think it's Dawn or maybe even Clemmie but she's little so I'm not sure how.' 'I'm calling it out now, it's Clemmie !' 'There'll be a queue round the block of potential pushers of Joe' 'What have you done Clemmie Reed' 'My money is on Clemmie.' 'He was dizzy from the spiked drink and fell himself' Oliver Young first portrayed the figure in the Yorkshire village from 1995 until 2005 when he left the area with Zoe Tate and her daughter Jean. Ned reprised the character in 2017 but Joe was then believed to have been murdered by Cain in 2018, making his return to the role at Christmas six years later all the more shocking. He's been racking up the enemies ever since, attempting to take half-brother Noah Dingle's kidney amid his dialysis treatment, before turning to Caleb as his next victim, even more sinister given he is a member of his family. The villain then disappeared before telling his victim over the phone: 'It's a work trip. Illinois this time of year is all just wind and rain.' After Caleb asked him how he is feeling, Joe added: 'Yeah, late night. How are they treating you?' From his hospital bed, Caleb said: 'Doctors are giving me a load of meds. I feel like a right druggie.' Discussing a police investigation into the attack, he added: 'They found the car; they're dusting it for prints. 'I want to talk to you when you get back though.' In a bid to throw Caleb off the scent, Joe said: 'Sure! I'm not sure how much help I can be. When I got there, whoever did that to you had gone... I've got to go for a meeting, but you take care of yourself, okay?' It turned out Dr Crowley was in the room with Joe for the call and the assailant justified his contact with his victim, saying: 'I think it would be odd to not check up on Caleb.' The doctor responded: 'He's not your problem anymore. Shaun's been released this morning pending an investigation and now we're flying him to Thailand as requested. It's not cheap.' Joe said, 'Money well spent. And my car?', to which Dr Crowley replied, 'Discreetly delivered back to Home Farm.' After hearing Joe's plan to flee for god, the doctor said: 'You've just had your op. You shouldn't be travelling and not without trained medical staff.' But the iconic character was hellbent on leaving the area, adding: 'I'm aware of the risks. I can't stay here. I've got medics waiting for me when I arrive in Dubai. Time to move on.' A car was then shown driving Joe away from the village in what seemed to be the villain's final exit from the soap. But of course it was not the end for the pivotal character and Joe then had an affair with Dawn and even blackmailed her daughter, Clemmie.

Joe Tate's death 'confirmed' as Emmerdale star shares very worrying sign

The end could be nigh for Emmerdale's Joe Tate after star Ned Porteous shared new headshots online. Joe, as viewers know, has antagonised just about everyone in the eponymous village since his return at Christmas, getting under the skin of the village's finest. But it seems a comeuppance could be on the cards, with the stage set for a number of characters to get their revenge on the popular show schemer next week. With Billy Fletcher (Jay Kontzle) getting wind of Joe's affair with Dawn Taylor (Olivia Bromley) – after the businessman issues a dark threat to Clemmie – the PT sees red and contemplates taking action. He's not alone, with Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins) having her suspicions that Joe spiked Noah (Jack Downham) confirmed. The Woolpack landlady is left reeling but will this discovery prompt her to take matters into her own hands? A party subsequently gets underway at Home Farm in aid of Lydia's (Karen Blick) birthday but, with so much bad blood circulating regarding Joe and his actions, will one scorned resident seek revenge? The character's fate is up in the air and a worrying sign in the form of new headshots online could indicate the end for him. '@dancollinsphoto Thanks for the snaps,' wrote actor Ned Porteous, posting the new snaps on social media. 'I promise I'm happier with them than I look in the photos.' More Trending New headshots can be an indicator that an actor's time on a TV series or soap has come to an end, though it's important to note that this isn't always the case. 'Always makes me nervous when you see new snaps … usually means your leaving please no!!!,' wrote one concerned fan in the comments, while another added: 'oh no – new headshots etc means your leaving emmerdale'.
