THE LEGEND OF ZELDA Live-Action Movie Casts Link and Zelda, Alas Hunter Schafer Not Involved

A live-action The Legend of Zelda movie has been a long time in the making. It has been a number one request from fans for years. We learned about the movie was actually happening all the way back in 2023. And, of course, the number one question that followed the announcement was, 'Who would play Link and Zelda in the live-action movie?' But we received no word about casting, leaving plenty of room for speculation… Until now. The live-action The Legend of Zelda movie has finally cast its Link and Zelda. Interestingly enough, despite many high-profile names being tossed around, the live-action Zelda movie has gone with two relatively unknown actors. Let's take a look at who has been cast. Who Will Play Link in the Live-Action Movie? Although his name isn't in the title, our hero Link is an important character. In the live-action The Legend of Zelda movie, Link will be played by Benjamin Evan Ainsworth. Benjamin Evan Ainsworth might be best known to Nerdist readers as the creepy kid from Mike Flanagan's Netflix show, The Haunting of Bly Manor. Now, he'll be much less eerie and much more epic as he takes on maybe the most iconic video game leading man ever, Link. We can see the vision in this The Legend of Zelda live-action movie casting choice. Who Will Play Princess Zelda in the Live-Action Movie? The Legend of Zelda fans REALLY hoped that Hunter Schafer would play Princess Zelda in the live-action The Legend of Zelda movie. And we must admit, casting Hunter Schafer would have been a really perfect decision. Schafer is super talented, and we'd have loved to see a transgender person cast in such a high-profile role. But, alas, it was not to be. The Legend of Zelda has instead cast Bo Bragason as its live-action Princess Zelda. You might know Bragason from Disney+'s Renegade Nell, and we're excited to see what she can do. Nintendo's Shigeru Miyamoto Is Excited By the Link and Zelda Casting for Movie Nintendo Head Shigeru Miyamoto shared some words of praise for the this duo on social media. He noted, 'This is Miyamoto. I am pleased to announce that for the live-action film of The Legend of Zelda, Zelda will be played by Bo Bragason-san, and Link by Benjamin Evan Ainsworth-san. I am very much looking forward to seeing both of them on the big screen. The film is scheduled to be released in theaters on May 7, 2027. Thank you for your patience.' Well, if this The Legend of Zelda live-action movie casting decision is good enough for Shigeru Miyamoto, we suppose it's good enough for us. More About the Upcoming Movie So far, we know that The Legend of Zelda will release on May 7, 2027. It will be directed by Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes' Wes Ball. We don't know much about the plot of The Legend of Zelda yet, but we assume it will follow the story of Link and Zelda as they battle evils across the kingdom. Solve the daily Crossword

WEDNESDAY's Isaac Ordonez on Pugsley Being the Ultimate Outcast and Finding Power

Wednesday season two will be here in two snaps. Well, not that soon. But we are heading back to Nevermore on August 6 to catch up with our favorite little storm cloud. This season, we will get to know more about the other Addams family members, including Wednesday's little brother Pugsley. Sure, he's the butt of many of her deadpan jokes and the subject of her torturous experiments. But Pugsley Addams is coming to Nevermore Academy and he's trying to find his way among a crowd of outcasts. We caught up with Isaac Ordonez to chat about his expanded role in Wednesday season two, working with Tim Burton, and more. Nerdist: Before you joined 's cast, what was your relationship with the Addams family franchise? What made you want to join the series? Isaac Ordonez: I saw the first season of the black and white series. I didn't see the second season because it wasn't on Amazon at the time. Then I saw the movies. I did see the animated movie as well because that has quite a bit of Pugsley and Tim Burton, and I've seen majority of his big movies. I grew up with him. Something I saw that separated Pugsley from the rest of the family members is that he's an outcast among outcasts, but he also had this crazy mischievous mindset. Those are indeed consistent character traits for Pugsley in all his many appearances. Now, in season two, we will get to see Pugsley alongside his sister at Nevermore Academy. What do you think he wants out of that experience? Ordonez: Friends! I think he assumes that because Wednesday is well known and has all these stories that he was going to be so popular. But that's not quite the case. I can see that. The younger sibling who sort of lives in the shadow of their older sibling and wants to forge his own path. And hopefully he can find his way with his newfound powers. How are you hoping that he develops his powers and as a person in the future? Ordonez: We see him use them a lot… This season, I saw pretty big growth in Pugsley. I think he learns a lot of lessons and starts to take things more so for granted. What was it like working with Jenna Ortega and Tim Burton and establishing your place within the set's dynamic? Ordonez: I think working with such big names and such talented people influences how I act. I feel like I get better at my job just by watching them through the monitor and picking up some of this stuff that they're doing. I love it. Jenna is amazing. It sounds like a great experience! You're a part of that talented circle, too. Don't forget that. Ordonez: I appreciate that!

'Superman' Star Teases Potential R-Rated DC Project

Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. Entertainment gossip and news from Newsweek's network of contributors The wide release of "Superman" is a week away and, unsurprisingly, the PG-13 film looks to be a decidedly family-friendly affair. But the guy playing the Man of Steel, David Corenswet, thinks it would be a good idea if things eventually got a little bit edgier for Superman. Speaking to Nerdist, Corenswet said that, in spite of resistance to the idea, he thinks Superman could work well in an R-rated project. Read More: Marvel Star Teases A Surprise Return in 'Avengers: Secret Wars' "One thing that excites me so much about [James Gunn's] vision for the DCU is the different genres and tones that the movies can take on," Corenswet said. "I know that people are skeptical that certain genres and characters can mix ... I would love to see this Superman in an R-rated project in a thing like 'Lanterns' where it's that 'True Detective' feel." "I just think it can happen in spite of how bright and playful this version of the character is. I think there's room to be flexible. So, I'd be excited to see that." David Corenswet in "Superman". David Corenswet in "Superman". Warner Bros Superheroes have not been complete strangers to R-rated movies. All three "Deadpool" entries were R-rated as was 2017's "Logan". But traditionally the studios have made sure to restrict R-rated material to darker characters like Wolverine and Deadpool. Even last year's "Deadpool & Wolverine", the first "Deadpool' entry set in the MCU, made sure to keep Marvel's more family-friendly characters out of the mix. Putting a traditionally family-friendly character like Superman in an R-rated project creates the potential for a number of issues, including for parents hoping to shield their children from more mature content. If you introduce a character like Superman in a PG or PG-13 movie, for example, and then include him in an R-rated movie, parents are put in the position of explaining to their children why they can see one movie but not the other. This is a question that James Gunn and Peter Safran will no doubt have to wrestle with some more as the DCU continues. Along with upcoming R-rated projects like "Peacemaker" Season 2 and "Lanterns", on the horizon is the body horror film "Clayface". "Superman" releases in theaters on July 11. Tickets are on sale now. The film is written and directed by James Gunn. "Superman" stars David Corenswet, Rachel Brosnahan, Nicholas Hoult, Edi Gathegi, Anthony Carrigan, Nathan Fillion, and Isabela Merced. THUNDERBOLTS* Gag Reel Sees Cast Getting Silly and Making Many Funny Noises—Exclusive Look

Thunderbolts* marked a return to form for the MCU. The franchise's newest super squad came together in an exciting, emotional story. This unlikely union of rejects, failures, has-beens, and never-weres made for a touching and thoughtful tale of found family, purpose, and redemption. Plus it was also really freaking funny. And that was just as true off-screen as it was on. Nerdist has your exclusive first look at Thunderbolts* gag reel from the film's upcoming home release. It's so delightful that even Yelena Belova would laugh at it. Are you not already 100% positive Florence Pugh is one of the most charming people on the planet? What! Why? Actually, don't answer, because this Thunderbolts* gag reel will be all the proof you need to know she is. She's the star of this very funny montage of on-set mistakes, mishaps, misquotes, and minor injuries. There's also a big missed cartwheel into an open elevator. Yet somehow that's not even the only elevator failure in this fun video. Turns out it's hard to make a big dramatic exit when an elevator door won't shut. The flip side is that it's easy to turn that moment into a big laugh for cast and crew alike. This Thunderbolts* gag reel is just one of the many bonus features MCU fans will find when the film makes its debut at both digital shops on July 1 before releasing on Blu-ray on July 29. Other extras include deleted scenes, a director's audio commentary from Jake Schreier, and a bevy of featurettes about the making of the film. We'll never know for sure how many takes got interrupted by an elevator-related issue, but if more of them exist, we hope Marvel Studios saves them for the film's tenth anniversary re-release. We loved Thunderbolts*, which really was a return to form for the MCU. But whether a movie was great or not, gag reels never disappoint. And this Thunderbolts* gag reel is certainly worthy of the new Avengers. RELATED ARTICLE Florence Pugh Fought MCU Lawyers to Jump Off World's Second Tallest Building in THUNDERBOLTS*

Buzz for Brad Pitt's 'F1' Turns Heads Before Rotten Tomatoes Score Reveal

From the director of Top Gun: Maverick, Joseph Kosinski, one of the biggest summer movies of 2025, outside of superhero flicks and dinosaurs, is F1: The Movie. Starring Damson Idris and Brad Pitt as Formula One racecar drivers, the movie will take a high-octane, ultra-realistic look at this badass sport. And, although the film doesn't yet have a Rotten Tomatoes score, movie critics have finally seen F1 and are sharing their reactions on social media. "The sound, score, and cinematography are flawless," wrote Variety editor Jazz Tangcay. And she was not alone. Maude Garrett of Nerdist posted on X that: "F1 is so freaking good. It has all the adrenaline, heart, pacing, story, and character that completely fleshes out this movie into excellence. I can only imagine how much MORE I would love this movie if I was a fan of F1 racing! F1: The Movie is racing into a very packed blockbuster summer. With Sinners, Thundebolts and Mission: Impossible — The Final Reckoning in the rearview mirror, F1 is sliding into a sweetspot, inbetweeen the release of Ballerina this week, and a masive July ahead. With Superman, Jurassic World Rebirth, and The Fantastic Four: First Steps all coming out in July, it seems very likely that if F1 were coming out later, it could possibly get lost in the shuffle. But these earlier reactions make it seem that the movie will very much be worth our while, and perhaps an exicting dark horse in a sea of conventional summer blockubsters. iTunes recently dropped a streaming preview of F1: The Album. The soundtrack album will include Don Toliver, Doja Cat, Ed Sheeran, Tate McRae, Chris Stapleton, and for Brad Pitt's 'F1' Turns Heads Before Rotten Tomatoes Score Reveal first appeared on Men's Journal on Jun 5, 2025
