Ben Affleck reveals how Tom Brady gave him 'greatest day' aside from birth of his children
Ben Affleck has revealed that Tom Brady gave him the 'greatest day' of his life besides the births of his children. The 52-year-old actor - who is embroiled in drama with ex Jennifer Lopez - appeared on The New Heights podcast hosted by Taylor Swift 's boyfriend Travis Kelce and his brother Jason. In the episode released on Wednesday, Ben recalled that one of the most memorable moments of his life was getting to 'run routes' as he played football with the 47-year-old seven-time Super Bowl champion. Jason asked: 'How many completions did we get? What were you running? What kind of routes are you running?' Ben replied: 'I won't lie to you. I don't know if they have a name. I'm sure I disgraced every receiver that's ever run around. But to this day, aside from the birth of my children, that was the greatest day.' The A-lister shares three children - Violet Anne, 19, Seraphina Rose, 16, and Samuel, 13 - with ex-wife Jennifer Garner. Ben revealed how the athletic hangout happened with NFL legend Tom as they happened to be on vacation at the same location as he needed 'someone to play catch with.' The Town actor recalled: 'I was like [thinking] how much I was helping him. I think he was like, "I'm gonna f***ing blow this dude out of the car." And we literally got down there. And at first he's like, "Okay, go out here, turn around, turn around." 'And I'm like, "Alright," run as fast as I can [and] turn around. I fix to look at him, he's been waiting 45 minutes. I caught [the ball] because I was afraid of breaking my nose more than anything else. And then after a few of those, he's like, "Alright. We'll put some air on [the ball]." I was like, "No. No, it's already plenty fast."' Ben went on to say that Tom had him perform a bit of role play as he told him to pretend it was the fourth quarter of a football game with 23 seconds left on the clock and the team needing a big play with a fourth and 18. The quarterback icon told him to 'just run' as Ben explained: 'So he's like, look, look, calls it out. I start running, I don't look back. I'm sure to him it seemed like this. He's like, "I've never seen somebody run-in slow motion." To me, I was going as fast as you can go. 'And I'm like wondering when's this ball going to show up? And I look, I just feel like right out in front of me. And it was a little far for me. I think he probably adjusted back, and I reach out and I have to go all out extend [and] I f***ing catch it' The Kelce brothers - who are both all-pro NFL talents - gassed Ben up as they cheered 'let's go!' as the actor described the impressive athletic accomplishment. Ben said that he told 'everybody he knew' that he was able to do it before gushing about Tom. The actor also was savaged for his appearance on The Greatest Roast of All Time: Tom Brady , which was part of the Netflix Is a Joke Fest, which was streamed live in May 2024 He said: 'It was like the nicest thing anyone's ever done for me, and I lived a full life of dreams. Right in that whatever hour of playing catch.' Ben went on to work with Tom on the famous 'DunKings' Super Bowl commercial for Dunkin' Donuts released in February 2024. The actor also was savaged for his appearance on The Greatest Roast of All Time: Tom Brady, which was part of the Netflix Is a Joke Fest, which was streamed live in May 2024. The performance featured a number of awkward jokes and a lengthy rant about social media trolls, with many on Twitter branding his set the worst of the night.

John Mulaney Returns to Late-Night on Netflix
During a monologue introducing his new Netflix talk show on Wednesday night, the comic John Mulaney said the streamer has given him an hour to introduce his fans to the baby boomer culture that has made him 'the unsettled weirdo' he is today. He stayed true to his word. The premiere episode of 'Everybody's Live With John Mulaney' included jokes about Al Jarreau, an eccentric tribute to 'Death of a Salesman' and an appearance by Joan Baez, who gossiped about civil rights leaders. Scheduled for a 12-week run, 'Everybody's Live' is a follow-up to Mulaney's first stab at the format, 'Everybody's in L.A.' That show, also live, aired last May as an eccentric but enjoyable exercise in corporate synergy: It coincided with the Netflix Is a Joke Fest, and included plenty of Mulaney's fellow comedy stars as guests, along with call-in segments and offbeat bits about Los Angeles concerns like coyotes and earthquakes. 'Everybody's Live' recreated that show for a slightly wider audience. It's not quite as L.A.-centric; it's still just as weird. The project is Netflix's latest foray into live programming. The streamer has been experimenting with live events like a 2023 Chris Rock standup special and the Jake Paul-Mike Tyson boxing match and Screen Actors Guild Awards this year. So what can viewers expect if they tune in to see Mulaney on Wednesday nights? Here are some clues from the premiere. Yes. Mulaney explained in the monologue that they changed the title because Netflix did a focus group and 'it turns out people around the country don't like L.A.' Mulaney suggested testing the name again after the wildfires earlier this year to see if opinions had changed, he said. They hadn't. Want all of The Times? Subscribe.
