Ben Affleck reveals how Tom Brady gave him 'greatest day' aside from birth of his children

Daily Mail30-04-2025

Ben Affleck has revealed that Tom Brady gave him the 'greatest day' of his life besides the births of his children.
The 52-year-old actor - who is embroiled in drama with ex Jennifer Lopez - appeared on The New Heights podcast hosted by Taylor Swift 's boyfriend Travis Kelce and his brother Jason.
In the episode released on Wednesday, Ben recalled that one of the most memorable moments of his life was getting to 'run routes' as he played football with the 47-year-old seven-time Super Bowl champion.
Jason asked: 'How many completions did we get? What were you running? What kind of routes are you running?'
Ben replied: 'I won't lie to you. I don't know if they have a name. I'm sure I disgraced every receiver that's ever run around. But to this day, aside from the birth of my children, that was the greatest day.'
The A-lister shares three children - Violet Anne, 19, Seraphina Rose, 16, and Samuel, 13 - with ex-wife Jennifer Garner.
Ben revealed how the athletic hangout happened with NFL legend Tom as they happened to be on vacation at the same location as he needed 'someone to play catch with.'
The Town actor recalled: 'I was like [thinking] how much I was helping him. I think he was like, "I'm gonna f***ing blow this dude out of the car." And we literally got down there. And at first he's like, "Okay, go out here, turn around, turn around."
'And I'm like, "Alright," run as fast as I can [and] turn around. I fix to look at him, he's been waiting 45 minutes. I caught [the ball] because I was afraid of breaking my nose more than anything else. And then after a few of those, he's like, "Alright. We'll put some air on [the ball]." I was like, "No. No, it's already plenty fast."'
Ben went on to say that Tom had him perform a bit of role play as he told him to pretend it was the fourth quarter of a football game with 23 seconds left on the clock and the team needing a big play with a fourth and 18.
The quarterback icon told him to 'just run' as Ben explained: 'So he's like, look, look, calls it out. I start running, I don't look back. I'm sure to him it seemed like this. He's like, "I've never seen somebody run-in slow motion." To me, I was going as fast as you can go.
'And I'm like wondering when's this ball going to show up? And I look, I just feel like right out in front of me. And it was a little far for me. I think he probably adjusted back, and I reach out and I have to go all out extend [and] I f***ing catch it'
The Kelce brothers - who are both all-pro NFL talents - gassed Ben up as they cheered 'let's go!' as the actor described the impressive athletic accomplishment.
Ben said that he told 'everybody he knew' that he was able to do it before gushing about Tom.
The actor also was savaged for his appearance on The Greatest Roast of All Time: Tom Brady , which was part of the Netflix Is a Joke Fest, which was streamed live in May 2024
He said: 'It was like the nicest thing anyone's ever done for me, and I lived a full life of dreams. Right in that whatever hour of playing catch.'
Ben went on to work with Tom on the famous 'DunKings' Super Bowl commercial for Dunkin' Donuts released in February 2024.
The actor also was savaged for his appearance on The Greatest Roast of All Time: Tom Brady, which was part of the Netflix Is a Joke Fest, which was streamed live in May 2024.
The performance featured a number of awkward jokes and a lengthy rant about social media trolls, with many on Twitter branding his set the worst of the night.

Tom Jones' late wife's last advice to him as he prepared to lose love of life

Sir Tom Jones was married to his wife Melinda "Linda" Trenchard for 59 years before she died in 2016, and the legendary singer has opened up on her tragic advice to him Sir Tom Jones has opened up about the heart-wrenching final words from his late wife before she succumbed to cancer. The iconic singer was by Melinda "Linda" Trenchard's side during her last days after a life together that spanned 59 years, from their marriage in 1957 until her death in 2016. Celebrating his 85th birthday, Sir Tom recounted the profound advice Linda gave him. Speaking on BBC 's Sounds of the 60s with Tony Blackburn, he shared: "When my wife knew that she had terminal cancer, I was with her for the last 10 days in hospital in the room with her. ‌ "She said, 'Look I gotta leave, but you don't fall with me. I'm going down, I know, there's nothing I can do about it but don't you do that.'". ‌ He continued to reveal how his beloved Linda urged him to persevere and how those words not only helped him through his grief but also guide him when advising young artists today. "She told me, 'Don't you fall with me, you've got to keep going, you've got to get on stage. You've still got songs to sing and think of me when you do it'." Tom reflected on the levity Linda brought to his life, underlining the importance of laughter and remembrance. He went on to express how Linda's memory gave him the fortitude to carry on with his career despite considering retirement in the wake of her passing, reports Wales Online. "She loved jokes and I used to make her laugh a lot so. Now, she gives me strength as when she passed away I thought I was gonna crumble." Noting the challenge of managing emotions while performing, Sir Tom disclosed how close he came to ending his singing career due to overwhelming emotion: "I almost packed it in. I didn't think I could sing anymore because you can't get too emotional sing when you sing because your voice won't come out." ‌ Sir Tom Jones has shared some sage advice for aspiring vocalists, saying, "This is what I say to singers now, you take the emotion and then you work it into the song, get it through, but don't get too involved with it because then you'll cry and you won't be able to sing." Celebrating a milestone, the legendary singer announced on his Instagram: "I'm celebrating my 85th birthday this Saturday! and am thrilled to be sharing a very special concert performance - 'Live on Soundstage 2017' for the first time on my YouTube channel." In addition to joining Tony Blackburn on the BBC, Sir Tom is set to feature in a BBC Arts programme called In My Own Words, as reported by GB News. Reflecting on the opportunity, the iconic Sex Bomb singer expressed: "Taking the time to look back at some of the extraordinary things that have happened in my life for In My Own Words has been really enjoyable and thought-provoking. ‌ "Some of the archive I'd not seen before, and watching snippets of those past times, places, styles, and struggles brought home how lucky I am. "Being able to spend the day in the first house I ever owned brought back so many memories... I hope everyone enjoys watching it as much as I did making it!".

ITV Deal or No Deal star dealt huge blow minutes into charity special

Alex Brooker is facing off the Banker in tonight's Soccer Aid special A Deal or No Deal contestant has been dealt a huge blow, losing the £100K jackpot just minutes into the ITV show. Saturday Night's (7th June) Soccer Aid episode saw The Last Leg co-host Alex Brooker facing off the Banker, supported by a star-studded panel. ‌ In a bid to win up to £100,000 for UNICEF, Alex gunned for the cash prize assisted by celebrities, including former England player Jill Scott and Irish actor Emmett J. Scanlan. ‌ However, Alex was left devastated when he selected his brother Tom's box, hoping to strike blue. Initially optimistic about his choice, Alex told host Stephen Mulhern "I think my brother Tom, number eight, has got 50p in there [the box.]" Tom was equally confident, agreeing with his sibling that the box likely contained 50p. But the duo were dealt a huge blow as Tom opened his box to find £100,000 inside. The Soccer Aid team was visibly upset, and they were not alone. Viewers have taken to X, formerly Twitter, to echo their frustration at the huge loss. One penned: "Oh no! The £100K is gone," while a second voiced out: "£100K gone. I'm furious and raging." Other ITV fans were quick to question the star's process. "Why hasn't he got a system? Lucky numbers & bad numbers. Looks like he's just choosing randomly with no strategy," quipped one.
