Punjab chief minister Bhagwant Mann and AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal launch 24 industrial advisory panels
Chandigarh: Punjab chief minister and (AAP) national convener on Friday jointly launched 24 sector-wise industrial advisory committees, terming it as a new approach to industrial policy-making in the state. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now Kejriwal described the move as a "reverse trend", where the govt will no longer dictate terms but will instead implement decisions made by industrialists through these new bodies. He claimed that 99% of the decisions formulated by these committees would be put into practice. Kejriwal also accused previous govts of coercing industrialists, which he said drove industries away and pushed the state into a crisis. He added that 99% of the recommendations by the committees will be implemented to make Punjab the best industrial destination. During the event, CM Mann highlighted that the idea for these committees was born out of govt-industry consultations held in Sept 2023. He said each committee would be responsible for drafting detailed strategies tailored to its specific industrial domain. Mann asserted that while preparing the New Industrial Policy, these committees will ensure equal partnership from industry stakeholders. Mann urged all industrialists to actively contribute ideas and share their valuable suggestions in formulating industry friendly policies. The CM called on the industrialists to ensure that their recommendations reflect Punjab's industrial strengths, realistic challenges, and financial context. He said each committee would consist of a chairperson, a member secretary, and officials from the Punjab Bureau of Industrial Investment and District Industries Centres. Mann said the state govt ensured representation from large units, MSMEs, sub-sectors, and all regions to ensure inclusive decision-making. He lauded the Fast Track Punjab Portal as India's most advanced single-window clearance system, offering over 150 business services and eliminating the need for offline applications. J-K: LG Manoj Sinha inaugurates Nutraj nuts & dry fruit processing plant at Samba
Samba (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], June 8 (ANI): Jammu and Kashmir, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Sunday inaugurated the Nutraj's state-of-the-art flagship nuts & dryfruit processing plant at Samba and said that the cutting-edge industrial unit will drive J&K UT's growth and aspirations and also act as an engine of economic and social progress for Samba and adjoining areas. The Lieutenant Governor congratulated Gagan Jain, Director, VKC Nuts Private Limited and all the members on the commencement of the new facility for processing of nuts, dryfruit and value-added products. 'First of its kind unit in border area is proof of our resolve to take UT to the pinnacle of progress. This unit is already creating local jobs and boosting local income, and I am confident it will improve living standards while increasing disposable income for families,' the Lieutenant Governor said. LG in his address, highlighted the key reforms and progressive policies of the J&K Administration fostering industrial growth and ensuring sustainable and inclusive economic development. 'J&K is on the move. The rise of the crown jewel of India is one of the greatest stories of the 21st Century. I sincerely believe that with a large pool of skilled human resources and tremendous potential for growth, J&K will occupy its rightful place in developed UTs in India,' the Lieutenant Governor said. He said the New Industrial Policy in April 2021, the first planned industrialisation after Independence under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi has ensured industrial transformation. 'J&K has become one of the most advanced UTs in the country in terms of modern physical infrastructure and digital infrastructure. The rapid growth of infrastructure and increased connectivity in J&K UT between 2021 and 2024 was evident in economic activity, exports and GDP growth. Millions of our citizens are fulfilling their decade-long aspirations,' the Lieutenant Governor said. On the occasion, the Lieutenant Governor asked the Vice Chancellor SKUAST Jammu to work in collaboration with the VKC NUTs Private Limited for walnut production, benefiting the farmers engaged in the sector. He further asked the VKC Nuts Private Limited to facilitate the export of local Cherry production. Nutraj's flagship nuts & dryfruit processing unit will provide direct employment to over 400 local youths, 70 per cent of which will be women. (ANI)

Meeting focuses on honey, marble in new policy
Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa government has initiated practical steps to improve the economic conditions of the province and formulate a New Industrial Policy 2025-2030 for industrial development. For the first time, it has been decided to solve the problems faced by the local industrial clusters and develop it. In this regard, a meeting related to the clusters was held at the Small Industries Development Board. The meeting was chaired by Salim Khan, President of Honey Association. It was attended by Feroz Shah, President Furniture Association, Asghar Khan, President Marble Association, Atmankhel, Provincial Chief of SMEDA, Rashid Aman.
