Kejriwal described the move as a "reverse trend", where the govt will no longer dictate terms but will instead implement decisions made by industrialists through these new bodies. He claimed that 99% of the decisions formulated by these committees would be put into practice. Kejriwal also accused previous govts of coercing industrialists, which he said drove industries away and pushed the state into a crisis. He added that 99% of the recommendations by the committees will be implemented to make Punjab the best industrial destination.
During the event, CM Mann highlighted that the idea for these committees was born out of govt-industry consultations held in Sept 2023. He said each committee would be responsible for drafting detailed strategies tailored to its specific industrial domain. Mann asserted that while preparing the New Industrial Policy, these committees will ensure equal partnership from industry stakeholders. Mann urged all industrialists to actively contribute ideas and share their valuable suggestions in formulating industry friendly policies.
The CM called on the industrialists to ensure that their recommendations reflect Punjab's industrial strengths, realistic challenges, and financial context. He said each committee would consist of a chairperson, a member secretary, and officials from the Punjab Bureau of Industrial Investment and District Industries Centres. Mann said the state govt ensured representation from large units, MSMEs, sub-sectors, and all regions to ensure inclusive decision-making.

Kejriwal said the Mann-led AAP govt had taken steps to revive and grow the industrial sector. He lauded the Fast Track Punjab Portal as India's most advanced single-window clearance system, offering over 150 business services and eliminating the need for offline applications. Furthermore, he noted that under the Punjab Right to Business Act, investment proposals of up to Rs 125 crore can now receive in-principle approval within just three days.

Green gains: Chandigarh's e-buses drive change
1 2 Chandigarh: With 80 electric buses now cruising across the Tricity, Chandigarh's green transport initiative is not just eco-friendly—it's a hit with commuters. Data from the Transport Department reveals a surge in ridership, especially on the ISBT-43 to Khuda Ali Sher route, which alone carries over 5,000 passengers daily. The top five electric bus routes are clocking more than 2,000 daily riders each, showing strong public adoption. Route 23A (ISBT-43 to Khuda Ali Sher) leads the pack with 5,060 passengers, followed by Route 17 (ISBT-43 to Behlana) with 3,356 passengers. Route 551 (ISBT-43 to PGI) sees 2,990 daily commuters, while Route 206 (ISBT-43 to IT Park) and Route 28 (Manimajra to New Maloya Colony) round out the top five with 2,528 and 2,126 passengers, respectively. The city's fleet of 80 e-buses was rolled out in two phases—40 buses in November 2021 and another 40 in October 2022. Operated by private firms, the buses cost ₹59.98/km and ₹44.99/km respectively, significantly lower than the ₹75/km cost of diesel buses. Beyond cost savings, the environmental impact is impressive. Since their launch, the e-buses have saved 3,310 kilolitres of diesel and prevented 8,740 tons of carbon emissions till April 29, 2025 — a major win for clean air and sustainable mobility. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Santa Cruz: Unsold Sofas Prices May Surprise You (Prices May Surprise You) Sofas | Search Ads Search Now Undo Total revenue generated from electric vehicles in 2024-2025 stands at Rs 15.33 crore (approx). Finance row: SGPDA seeks to bypass MMC for waste collection
Margao: A bitter financial dispute over garbage collection erupted between the South Goa Planning and Development Authority (SGPDA) and the Margao Municipal Council (MMC) recently and is yet to be resolved. The SGPDA is now seeking to engage alternative agencies for waste collection, effectively bypassing the MMC altogether. A written reply tabled in the House in the just-concluded monsoon session of the state legislative assembly revealed the extent of the problem. At the heart of the dispute lie two substantial claims: the MMC's demand for Rs 1.8 crore for waste management services provided to the SGPDA's retail market, and the SGPDA's counterclaim of Rs 3.4 crore dues in unpaid rent for the MMC's operation of a bio-methanation plant on SGPDA property. The financial tussle has been brewing for months, with both bodies sticking to their positions, though garbage collection resumed functioning as usual after a brief hiatus. According to the reply by minister for town and country planning Vishwajit Rane, SGPDA officials claimed that the MMC unilaterally increased daily garbage collection charges from Rs 550 to Rs 5,500 per trip — a staggering 900% increase implemented 'without any notice'. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Villas For Sale in Dubai Might Surprise You Villas In Dubai | Search Ads Get Rates Undo This fee hike has been termed 'unjustified' by the SGPDA, which has questioned the sudden increase in costs for what was previously a routine municipal service. The MMC, however, has maintained, the reply added, that it has 'no dispute' with the SGPDA, but has pointed out that the SGPDA is not providing waste in a segregated manner required under the Solid Waste Management Rules, 2016, creating problems for the onward disposal. The council conveyed its concerns to the SGPDA even as it continued lifting garbage from SGPDA markets on a daily basis. However, with the standoff showing no signs of resolution, the SGPDA approached the Goa Waste Management Corporation, urging it to appoint alternative agencies for garbage collection, the minister's reply said.
