Astro Tips: What To Keep In Mind Before Donating Old Clothes
Donating old clothes is often seen as a generous and thoughtful gesture. Most of us do it with the belief that our unused clothes might help someone else in need. But according to astrology and spiritual beliefs, clothing donation isn't just about goodwill, there are certain rules and energies associated with it that one should be mindful of. (News18 Telugu) Astrologers believe that the clothes we wear absorb our body's energy, thoughts, and emotions. Every outfit carries imprints of our experiences, both positive and negative. When we pass these on to someone else without any purification, it's possible that we transfer that emotional residue and energy along with the fabric. (News18 Telugu) 3/7 That's why experts suggest cleaning old clothes thoroughly before giving them away. More specifically, washing clothes with salt, especially rock salt, is believed to purify them energetically. Mixing a bit of rock salt in water while washing is said to remove negative vibrations and restore balance.(News18 Telugu) It's not just the physical act of washing, your mental state while donating also matters. If you're emotionally attached to a garment and feel sadness or regret while giving it away, that energy may linger. It's best to let go with a happy heart, appreciating that the clothes will serve someone else better now. (News18 Telugu) Whom you donate to is equally important. Giving to those who are truly in need, especially the underprivileged who live with dignity, is considered ideal. Donating shouldn't be about feeling superior, but about offering help where it is genuinely required. (News18 Telugu) Another important point is to avoid donating torn or heavily worn-out clothes. While you may think anything is better than nothing, astrologers warn that such garments may pass on unwanted energies or hardship to the recipient. (News18 Telugu) Astrologically favourable days such as Amavasya, Purnima, or Saturdays, and mornings in general, are believed to enhance the positive effects of donations. When done thoughtfully, the act of giving can bring blessings and good karma not just to the recipient, but to you as well. (News18 Telugu)

Are You Still Storing Fruits And Veggies In The Fridge In Plastic Wraps? Stop Now!
Do you buy fruits and vegetables from the market and store them in plastic bags in the fridge? This isn't just a common habit in Indian households, it's a practice seen across the globe. However, you might be surprised to know that this everyday habit could be putting your health at risk. (News18 Telugu) A recent study has found that storing food in plastic containers or bags may lead to the release of microplastic and nanoplastic particles. Published in the journal NPJ Science of Food, the research explains how repeated opening and closing of plastic containers can release microscopic plastic fragments, which then dissolve into the food or drink stored inside. (News18 Telugu) Plastic is present in almost everything we use from packaging to kitchen tools. This has led to microplastics gradually entering our food, water, and surroundings. Once consumed, these tiny particles can pass through tissues, enter the bloodstream, and spread throughout the body, including vital organs. (News18 Telugu) According to the study, microplastics have been found in human blood, lungs, and even the brain. Shockingly, around 80% of people tested were found to have microplastics in their bloodstream. Another report also showed that about 58% of people had microplastic particles in their arteries, increasing the risk of heart disease. (News18 Telugu) 7/8 A simple solution to this triggering problem is to stop using plastic bags for storing fruits and vegetables. Instead, switch to mesh or cotton bags, stainless steel containers, or baskets made from natural materials. These are not only safer but also more eco-friendly. (News18 Telugu)

Facial Recognition Introduced At 7 Of India's Busiest Railway Stations. Here's What Changes
1/10 What Is FRT: FRT identifies unique facial features, such as the position of the eyes, nose, and mouth, and matches them against photos in a secure database. The system is powered by artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning, allowing it to detect faces quickly and accurately in real-time. (News18 Telugu) 3/10 Benefits: Railway stations witness the daily movement of lakhs of passengers, making them vulnerable to theft, suspicious activity, and even terrorist threats. With FRT, security personnel can identify potential threats early, track suspects, and prevent crimes more effectively. (News18 Telugu) The use of FRT offers several advantages as with this feature, suspects can be identified instantly, which helps deter crime. It also reduces the need for manual ticket checks, thereby cutting down waiting time for passengers. It also assists in better crowd management by helping authorities monitor passenger flow. (News18 Telugu) Global Use Of FRT: Facial recognition is being used in over 100 countries worldwide. It is particularly widespread in China, where the technology is implemented at intersections, shopping malls, and public transport hubs. Countries like the US, Russia, Japan, Singapore, and the UAE have also integrated FRT in various sectors. (News18 Telugu) How Is Aadhaar Data Involved: India's Aadhaar database includes photos, fingerprints, and iris scans of nearly every citizen. In theory, FRT could be linked to Aadhaar images. However, Indian law prohibits the use of Aadhaar data for general surveillance. According to UIDAI, Aadhaar can only be used for authenticating government schemes and not for mass facial recognition. (News18 Telugu) Concerns and Limitations: While the technology brings many benefits, it also comes with challenges. Privacy remains a major concern, as personal data is being recorded. Misidentification is possible, especially if the face is partially covered or lighting is poor. The high cost of implementation and risks of data breaches also raise red flags. (News18 Telugu) Where Else is it Being Used in India?: Beyond railway stations, facial recognition is being deployed across sectors. At airports, the Digi Yatra system allows ticketless boarding. Delhi Police have used FRT to locate over 3,000 missing children. Educational institutions use it for tracking student attendance, and banks are beginning to use it for customer verification. (News18 Telugu) 9/10 Facial recognition represents a significant leap in India's security infrastructure. It has the potential to streamline operations, boost surveillance, and enhance public safety. (News18 Telugu) 10/10 While the benefits of facial recognition are undeniable, the government must ensure that proper checks and balances are in place. Addressing privacy concerns, regulating data usage, and ensuring transparency are crucial as the country moves towards a more tech-driven public security model. (News18 Telugu)

Andhra To Roll Out Pattadar Passbooks With QR Codes From August 1
1/8 The Andhra Pradesh government is placing strong emphasis on land, house sites, and residential properties. From August 1, it will issue new Pattadar passbooks to landowners. Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has directed revenue officials to distribute these updated documents to landowners whose surveys are complete by August. In the first phase, 21.86 lakh people are set to receive the new passbooks once printing is finished, and the public is being encouraged to prepare for collection. (News18 Telugu) These new passbooks will be technology-enabled, with each containing a QR code. Landowners will be able to scan the code and enter their Aadhaar number to access detailed information about their land. The details will instantly appear on their mobile screens. The CM has stressed that landowners must have full awareness of the location and particulars of their property. This digital solution is expected to provide greater security and help prevent land encroachments. (News18 Telugu) CM Naidu has also instructed officials to resolve all freehold-related issues by October. Freehold ownership refers to complete, permanent ownership of property, including the right to use, sell, or modify it. Unlike leasehold, which is restricted by time limits, freehold ensures permanent rights. The Chief Minister emphasised the need for prompt action so that landowners receive full ownership rights before the deadline. (News18 Telugu) Officials have also been asked to issue permanent caste certificates to all eligible persons by October. Since the new coalition government assumed office, 43.89 lakh people have received their certificates, and the Chief Minister has called for the remaining individuals to be covered swiftly. The allotment of graveyard space for Scheduled Castes (SCs) must also be completed, with a target of 363 locations. The government has allocated Rs. 137 crore for land acquisition, aiming to finish the project within three years.(News18 Telugu) Under the previous administration led by Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, names and photographs were inscribed on survey stones. The current government has removed them from 77.9 lakh stones, with work ongoing for the rest. Going forward, revenue officials will make regular visits to villages and towns, engage with residents, clarify doubts, and prioritise land-related concerns. The Chief Minister has said that unresolved revenue issues may damage the government's image, while swift resolutions will help build public trust. (News18 Telugu) Regarding land succession, CM Naidu announced that the process can be completed for just Rs. 100 if the inherited land is worth up to Rs. 10 lakh. For land valued above that, succession requires only Rs. 1,000. The Chief Minister has also instructed that village ward staff should be empowered to assist and streamline this process for citizens. (News18 Telugu) A full re-survey of all lands in every village is to be completed by December 2027. Surveyors will remain with the village ward secretariats until the work is done. CM Naidu has further asked for a revised revenue manual to be finalised by August, reflecting new rules and policies. He stated that areas with no revenue issues should be prioritised for regularisation, with the entire process completed by December. (News18 Telugu) The Chief Minister also highlighted that drainage is a pressing concern in the state. The government is prepared to release the necessary funds to address the issue. Plans are in place to install underground drainage systems to tackle the crisis, as open drains and sewage problems have increased mosquito breeding and caused disease outbreaks. Many across Andhra Pradesh have been falling ill with severe fevers, leading to widespread public demand for urgent solutions. (News18 Telugu)

This Bollywood Actor Was Once A Teacher; Dated His Student, Then Married Her
Long before R Madhavan became a heartthrob on the big screen, he was a soft-spoken teacher helping students find confidence. One of those students ended up changing the course of his life forever. Back in 1991, in Kolhapur, a young woman named Sarita Birje enrolled in Madhavan's personality development class. She was preparing for a career in aviation. (News18 Telugu) After landing her first job, she invited her teacher out for a thank-you dinner. That evening sparked a connection that quietly grew into something more than just mentor and student. Eight years later, the two were married in a traditional Tamil ceremony. Sarita wasn't a co-star or an industry insider. She was simply someone who saw the man before the fame. And Madhavan, who would go on to win hearts in both South Indian cinema and Bollywood, never forgot that. (News18 Telugu) 3/7 Their marriage in 1999 came just a year before his breakthrough in Mani Ratnam's 'Alai Payuthey' (Sakhi in Telugu), which catapulted him to stardom as the charming, relatable lover boy. While fans fell in love with his on-screen romance, Madhavan was already living a quiet, steady love story behind the scenes. He often brought Sarita to film shoots, not out of insecurity, but out of a commitment to stay close despite the chaos of the film world. (News18 Telugu) Now, 26 years later, the couple remains rock solid. Madhavan credits the longevity of their relationship to trust, personal space, and humor. He often jokes that "no man can win an argument with his wife", and adds that Sarita handles the finances and even knows his phone password. That's how deep the trust runs, he says. (News18 Telugu) 5/7 Their son, Vedant, has carved a name of his own in the world of competitive swimming. A national-level athlete, Vedant clinched gold at the Danish Open and silver at the Asian Age Group Championship in 2022. Madhavan, while proud, keeps his parenting grounded, saying, "Everyone's watching you because of who your father is. So stay humble. Stay focused." (News18 Telugu) 6/7 Even in 2025, Madhavan isn't slowing down. With back-to-back projects like 'Shaitaan' (2024) and 'Kesari Chapter 2' (2025), he continues to evolve, choosing roles that stretch beyond his lover-boy image. And Sarita? She's still beside him, sometimes even behind the camera, having worked as a costume designer for a few of his films. (News18 Telugu)
