News 8 Primetime 585 Elite Awards: Boys bowling
ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — Here are the News 8 Primetime 585 Elite Award winners in boys bowling. Our small school boys winner was the top dog in his division from start to finish. He had a 211 average in the regular season, tops among Division II had a high game of 279. His 736 high series was the best in his class and he led his team to a Finger Lakes East had a dominant performance in sectionals throwing a pair of 700 series to finish with 1,422 pins and lead his squad to a team won the Class C individual title by 100 pins and had the best-six game series of any boys bowler at states he had two days' worth of strong performances finishing 16th in the team event and 15th in the composite competition. He was the only division I bowler with a 200 in every game at sectionals and his 1,359 total gave him the class a individual title, winning both team and solo titles for the second straight was even better at states. His 235 average was fourth individually in the team competition and his team finished fourth the composite event, he rolled a high game of 280, second best of the day, and he helped the Section V Division I composite team win a state title. News 8 Primetime 585 Elite Awards: Girls basketball
ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — Here are the News 8 Primetime 585 Elite Award winners for girls basketball. Our first girls basketball winner led her team to a sectional title and was named Class B Sectional Finals MVP. She followed that by being named Far West Regionals Player of the Game. Her team went all the way to the New York State Championship game and earned a state runner up finish. She was named the Livingston County Co-Player of the Year, an LCAA All-Star, The Way-Co Showcase MVP and the Roger Weiss Memorial Tournament 'Heart of a Champion' and character athlete award. She set a school record for most points in a season with 484, and scored her 1,000th point this year. She also tied a school record with 85 threes in a season, and tied a Girls Section V record with 10 threes in a game. She is just as successful in the classroom as she is a High Honor Roll student and a member of the National Honor Society. The News 8/ Primetime Elite Award winner for small schools girls basketball is from Hornell, Jordyn Dyring! Our large school winner will be graduating with her name pretty much all over her school's record book. This senior averaged just over 30 points a game last year. She also averaged 10 rebounds and four assists per game. She shot 49% from the floor and a totally ridiculous 44% from 3 point range — for comparison, the most accurate NBA 3-point shooters are at 44 percent. She finished her high school career with 2140 career points, the most in her school's history. Also this year… she set the following school records: -Most points in a game 43-Most threes in a game: 9-Most threes in a season: 101-Most threes career: 226-Most points in a season: 702 She was named Monroe County Division 1 Player of the Year. News 8 Primetime 585 Elite Awards: Girls track
ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — Here are the News 8 Primetime 585 Elite Award winners for girls track: This senior was invited to a pair of prestigious national indoor events, competing in both the Nike Indoor Nationals at the New York Armory and the New Balance Indoor Nationals in Boston. She set school records in the 55-meter dash, the 200 and the long jump. At sectionals, she earned the 55-meter title for the second year in a row and her time of 7.11 was the fastest of any sprinter. She also helped her relay team to a 4 x 400 sectional championship and earned a spot in the 55-meter state final where she finished 7th. She is a high honor roll student, a black scholar, and while she was doing all this, she also found time to play on the basketball team. The large school girls track award winner is Jayda Solomon of Spencerport. Our small school winner is another senior sprinter who impressed on and off the track. She also ran in the Nike Indoor Nationals and the New Balance Indoor Nationals. She won a section title in the 55-meter dash and helped her 4 x 200 relay team to a second-place sectional finish. She also set school records this year in the 55 meters and 60 meters. Her season concluded with a 10th place finish at the state finals, where large and small class runners compete together. Beyond athletics, she is an Honor Roll student, Principal's Club member, and an Urban League of Rochester Black Scholar, Next year she will run on a scholarship at Niagara University. (WROC) — Here are the News 8 Primetime 585 Elite Award winners for boys wrestling: Our large school winner added to his lengthy list of achievements in his junior season finishing his season with an impressive 42-2 at the 138-pound weight class, one of the deepest in Section V, he won his third straight sectional title. News 8 Primetime 585 Elite Awards: Girls hockey
ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) – It is time for the Primetime 585 Elite Award for girls hockey. This award winner will annually be given to the top girls player in Section V whether they play alongside the boys or on the Webster Lakers which is the area's only girls hockey team. This winner comes from the latter. Our winner is a senior defender. She was a mainstay on the blue line playing strong in her own end and helping transition into the offensive zone. While being a top defender she was also one of her team's top offensive players as her four goals were second most on the team. She is also part of her team's leadership group and is a mentor for her younger teammates. She is also an honor roll multi-sport athlete. After graduation she will attend SUNY Geneseo to play on the women's lacrosse team. The News 8 Primetime 585 Elite Award winner goes to Maddie Meyer of the Webster Lakers.
