Revealed: Why Kansas City Chiefs welcomed a sworn enemy into camp... and he was even wearing team uniform

The Kansas City Chiefs have brought former Las Vegas Raiders coach Antonio Pierce to training camp despite being a former sworn enemy due to his vast defensive knowledge. Pierce is a guest of Chiefs defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo, who is using every tool at his disposal to get Kansas City back to its winning ways. The Chiefs were denied a three-peat by the Philadelphia Eagles in February, giving up 40 points. Expectations are for Kansas City to play in their sixth championship game in the last seven seasons. To ensure that prophecy comes true, Pierce, wearing Chiefs red, after the better part of the previous two seasons giving his all to the Raiders' black and silver, was present in Missouri. 'I think you guys probably know this. Antonio and I have been close for a long time. In '07 when I went to New York with the Giants, he was the Mike linebacker,' Spagnuolo said. 'The present-day version of Antonio Pierce is (the Chiefs') Nick Bolton now.' 'He became a coach, and all the way to being a head coach, he obviously had that when he was a player. That's a nice thing to have when you're a defensive coordinator, a guy that's that cerebral. I've got a lot of respect for Antonio. I'm glad he came through.' 'The guys are loving having him. He's giving feedback from a player's standpoint, coach's standpoint, head coach's standpoint. ... And maybe we'll ask him about some Las Vegas Raiders stuff.' Pierce has not found another coaching job after the Raiders went 4-13, giving him the pink slip, and hiring Pete Carroll instead. That unemployment should not last for long as NFL teams inevitably falter during the 2025 season. Before joining Spagnuolo in New York, Pierce began his NFL career in Washington, holding down the middle linebacker spot for a division rival. It's safe to say Pierce knew how to change his loyalties for the better of the team back then, and he's doing so again in 2025.

Chiefs' continuity on defense could allow them to achieve a major goal that LB Nick Bolton has set for the unit

Chiefs' continuity on defense could allow them to achieve a major goal that LB Nick Bolton has set for the unit originally appeared on A to Z Sports. The defense has been the strongest unit for the Kansas City Chiefs over the past couple of years. While guys like Chris Jones, Trent McDuffie, and George Karlaftis get the most recognition, defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo recently called linebacker Nick Bolton the "Patrick Mahomes" of the defense. Bolton spoke to the media after Day 4 of Chiefs training camp practice on Friday, which was closed to the public due to inclement weather. Among the questions he was asked was what his ambitions for the defense as a whole are for the 2025 season. Nick Bolton believes the Chiefs' defense can be the best in the NFL "We had a pretty good defense last year in terms of efficiency," Bolton said. "We want to be the top defense in this league. I think we have the personnel, the players, and the coaches to do so. That's about executing week-to-week and giving us an opportunity to win football games, to help our team win, and ultimately we'll get back to the end game. I feel like we can be the No. 1 defense in this league, and that's my motivation as we keep going in training camp." View the to see embedded media. The Chiefs' defense is already among the best in the league, so it's not impossible that it could be No. 1 in 2025. One big factor will be improving the the pass rush, which was middling in 2024. Rookie defensive linemen Omarr Norman-Lott and Ashton Gillotte could give the defense a jolt of energy in that department. Kansas City's secondary should also be improved with the addition of cornerback Kristian Fulton. Veteran safety Justin Reid left in free agency, but second-year man Jaden Hicks is ready to step up after having a good rookie season. Besides Hicks, the Chiefs are returning every other starter on defense from last year. That continuity, mixed with an infusion of rookie talent for depth, could be the recipe to becoming the top defense in the the to see embedded media. Yowie backs off bid for Keybridge Capital

Australia-based confectioner Yowie has decided against moving to acquire Keybridge Capital, its largest shareholder. Yowie's proposed offer, announced in May, contained a series of conditions, including that Keybridge would not try to change the composition of the confectioner's board. However, an EGM convened by Keybridge was held on 27 June where a condition linked to the make-up of Yowie's board was sparked. After the meeting, Yowie no longer listed company secretary John Patton and MD Nick Bolton as part of the board. Bolton, a managing director at Keybridge, was appointed CEO of Yowie last year after the investor acquired 78% of the business. In a stock-exchange filing today (10 July), Yowie said: 'Yowie notes that, following the outcome of the extraordinary general meeting held on 27 June 2025, the 'no change to Yowie board composition' condition to the bid had been triggered. 'After considering all aspects of the bid and the bidder's statement, it is not in Yowie's interest to proceed with the bid.' The company added: 'Accordingly, Yowie does not intend to proceed with the despatch of the bidder's statement as to do so would be futile, including because the bid would close with a defeating condition breached.' Yowie's statement was authorised by directors Antony Catalano and Sulieman Ravell. In a separate filing, the company said Patton's role as company secretary ended on Monday. Yowie added Patton and Bolton had resigned as directors on 18 June. Keybridge entered administration on 9 February, following Yowie's demand for repayment of an outstanding loan by 7 February. The period of external administration ended in May. Yowie, headquartered in Perth in Western Australia, markets its namesake products in Australia and the US to 'promote learning, understanding and engagement with the natural world', featuring Yowie characters such as Rumble and Squish. It outsources production and distribution. "Yowie backs off bid for Keybridge Capital" was originally created and published by Just Food, a GlobalData owned brand. Chiefs Urged To Make One Final Massive Offseason Move

Chiefs Urged To Make One Final Massive Offseason Move originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Kansas City Chiefs faced some serious roster maintenance questions heading into the offseason. Coming off of three straight Super Bowl appearances the time came for decisions involving the finances of some key players. Advertisement That meant the loss of starting safety Justin Reid though the Chiefs did keep Nick Bolton on the defensive side. Offensively, the Chiefs needed to commit to one of two offensive linemen. They chose Trey Smith, heralded by many as one of the top potential free agents heading into that period. Kansas City's right guard earned selection to the first Pro Bowl of his career in 2024 and hopes to build off that momentum next season. But the Chiefs have not yet secured Smith's future with the team. They used the franchise tag as a temporary safeguard though ESPN's Aaron Schatz has urged Kansas City to execute a long-term deal here to put a bow on their offseason. "The Chiefs already decided between Joe Thuney and Smith. They could pay only one of them, so Thuney was sent to Chicago and they kept the younger Smith. Right now, Smith is set to play on the franchise tag for 2025 and then become a free agent again in 2026. Advertisement "We know that's not going to happen. The Chiefs need to get the extension worked out and lock one of the league's top interior linemen down for the next few seasons." Smith is currently set to play on a one-year $23.4 million contract next season. They have until July 15 to agree to terms on a new deal, exactly one week before the first official workout at training camp. As Schatz says, the Chiefs are likely to knock this out and make it a matter of the past before that deadline. But the time is ticking to get it done and lock in of Patrick Mahomes' most trusted protectors on the offensive line.
