Chiefs' continuity on defense could allow them to achieve a major goal that LB Nick Bolton has set for the unit
The defense has been the strongest unit for the Kansas City Chiefs over the past couple of years.
While guys like Chris Jones, Trent McDuffie, and George Karlaftis get the most recognition, defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo recently called linebacker Nick Bolton the "Patrick Mahomes" of the defense.
Bolton spoke to the media after Day 4 of Chiefs training camp practice on Friday, which was closed to the public due to inclement weather. Among the questions he was asked was what his ambitions for the defense as a whole are for the 2025 season.
Nick Bolton believes the Chiefs' defense can be the best in the NFL
"We had a pretty good defense last year in terms of efficiency," Bolton said. "We want to be the top defense in this league. I think we have the personnel, the players, and the coaches to do so. That's about executing week-to-week and giving us an opportunity to win football games, to help our team win, and ultimately we'll get back to the end game. I feel like we can be the No. 1 defense in this league, and that's my motivation as we keep going in training camp."

The Chiefs' defense is already among the best in the league, so it's not impossible that it could be No. 1 in 2025. One big factor will be improving the the pass rush, which was middling in 2024. Rookie defensive linemen Omarr Norman-Lott and Ashton Gillotte could give the defense a jolt of energy in that department.
Kansas City's secondary should also be improved with the addition of cornerback Kristian Fulton. Veteran safety Justin Reid left in free agency, but second-year man Jaden Hicks is ready to step up after having a good rookie season. Besides Hicks, the Chiefs are returning every other starter on defense from last year. That continuity, mixed with an infusion of rookie talent for depth, could be the recipe to becoming the top defense in the NFL.View the to see embedded media.

Chargers predicted to get off to rough regular season start within the division
Chargers predicted to get off to rough regular season start within the division originally appeared on The Sporting News The Los Angeles Chargers open the 2025 season with three straight divisional opponents. At least one analyst feels that the team will get off to a bumpy start. The Chargers open the season in Brazil against the Chiefs before playing the Raiders in Las Vegas and then hosting the Broncos in Week 3. John Breech of CBS Sports made his predictions for when each NFL team will lose its first game this coming season, and he has the Chargers stumbling out of the gate. "The Chiefs have won seven straight games against the Chargers, but they've never beaten them in Brazil. However, there's a first time for everything. The Chargers have had a run of bad injury luck with Rashawn Slater out for the season and the Chiefs are the Chiefs", wrote Breech. Jim Harbaugh fought Andy Reid hard twice last season, but came up short. He goes to 0-3 against him as the coach of the Chargers with this prediction. But it doesn't stop there. While we don't know how Breech sees the Week 2 game vs. the Raiders (because he has the Raiders losing in Week 1 as well), we can see that he predicts the Broncos to beat them in Week 3 as he doesn't have the Broncos losing their first game until Week 4. That means that the Chargers, according to Breech, will start the season 1-2, at best. As far as predictions go, it gets a little worse. Over at Ali Bhanpuri and Adam Rank predicted each game of the upcoming season and locked in their playoff teams as a result. Bhanpuri has the Chargers finishing the season 10-7 and fitting into the No. 6 slot in the AFC. Rank also has them going 10-7, but they miss the playoffs entirely in his prediction. READ:4 Chargers on chopping block ahead of game vs. Rams It seems that the Chargers have failed to create any new believers this offseason, as many analysts see them being about as good as they were last year, if not a little bit worse. Harbaugh could use that as fuel to rally his troops. Bears will play their starters in the final preseason game
The Bears will play their starters in the preseason finale Friday night against the Chiefs. Bears coach Ben Johnson told Kay Adams on Up & Adams that Caleb Williams and the rest of the team's healthy starters will play. 'We'll go ahead, and we'll play,' Johnson said. 'We'll see how long it is. We're going to get through a couple days here of practice, and we'll determine for how long, but we need to go through this.' Johnson hinted earlier this week that he would play the starters this week. Chiefs coach Andy Reid announced Monday that his starters would play some against the Bears. 'They'll start it off, for sure, and then we'll see how it goes from there,' Reid said. The Bears opened Sunday night's game against the Bills with their starters on the field. Williams and receivers Rome Odunze and DJ Moore each played 14 snaps. Williams was 6-of-10 for 107 yards and a touchdown.

Xavier Worthy reacts to Taylor Swift's viral NFL draft reaction: 'That's crazy'
Taylor Swift, NFL draft scout? While most of the attention surrounding Swift's appearance on the "New Heights" podcast was focused on her relationship with Travis Kelce, the pop star also pointed out her excitement during the 2024 NFL Draft. Specifically, Swift detailed her elation about the Kansas City Chiefs' selection of Xavier Worthy with the 28th overall pick. On Tuesday, Worthy responded to the viral clip. "That's crazy," Worthy said. "I ain't gonna lie, she's the biggest pop star in this generation so it's crazy to have somebody running around the house screaming, 'We drafted you!'" The pick was only made possible after the Chiefs traded up with the Buffalo Bills, which became cause for celebration in the Swift residence. "I became like a person who was running through the halls of my house screaming, 'We drafted Xavier Worthy,'" Swift said. Kelce was a non-believer at first, saying that he wasn't sure if Swift had the right information. "I forget where I was, but you were the first person to tell me that we drafted the fastest man in the draft," Kelce said. Chiefs fans were given many reasons to be happy about the selection and their newest superfan wasted no time joining the crowd. "I was freaking out," Swift added. Worthy certainly proved to be a solid addition to the Kansas City offense in his rookie year, totaling 742 scrimmage yards and nine touchdowns on 79 touches – also proving to be someone that rose to the occasion in the postseason. Heading into his second season, the former Texas star will look to build off an impressive rookie year. Turns out, he'll be doing it with one of the world's biggest celebrities in his corner.
