Connie Britton Mystery Comedy Phony Gets Series Order at Hulu
Five-time Emmy nominee Connie Britton has a case of imposter syndrome… in the literal sense.
Hulu has officially given a series order to Phony, a coming-of-age mystery comedy which sees the Friday Night Lights vet playing Ellen, a single mom to her teenage son Sonny (The White Lotus' Sam Nivola).

But things are not what they seem. The mystery follows Sonny, the most beloved student at his high school, as he wakes up in the hospital after a car accident to discover that his mom — who also happens to be his high school principal — appears to have been replaced by an impostor (!). Not only has he seemingly lost his parent, but also the only person who truly knows him.
Nick Paley (Marcel the Shell with Shoes On, Broad City), an Annie Award winner and two-time Emmy nominee, serves as showrunner and executive-produces the half-hour series alongside Britton, Charlie Alderman, Drew Goddard and Sarah Esberg.
A release date for Phony has not yet been announced.
