Nicolas Niemtchinow, French Ambassador to the UAE, the French delegation held meetings with Etihad Rail, Hafeet Rail, Abu Dhabi Mobility, and the Abu Dhabi Transport Company. Discussions focused on national railway infrastructure and ongoing mobility developments across the city. The program also included a visit to the Etihad Rail Al-Faya depot, the main maintenance and control center for the network, as well as a stop at the Electric Vehicle Innovation Summit, where French companies explored emerging opportunities in the UAE's rapidly growing EV sector. In Dubai, H.E. Jean-Christophe Paris opened the sessions with welcoming remarks to the delegation and guests and attended the subsequent panel discussions featuring the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), DEWA, Ras Al Khaimah Municipality, Al Naboodah Transport, and other industrial stakeholders. These sessions explored key topics including metro and tram projects, electric mobility, and the energy transition. French Expertise Supporting UAE's Ambitions French excellence was on full display—Among the participating companies, Dassault Systèmes, the gold sponsor of the event, stood out for its advanced capabilities in virtual design and simulation tailored to the mobility sector. Through its 3D design, digital mock-up, and PLM solutions, the company enables transport stakeholders to model and optimize complex mobility systems in virtual environments. Also present, VINCI CONSTRUCTION GRANDS PROJETS, an expert in large-scale transport infrastructure and RATP DEV, a key player in public transport and railway network operations. French innovators such as Apave, ATEIS, ATM Internationale, CBM Company, Codra, MPH Experts, OXYSIGN, MIPI, Manquillet Parizel, and Saarstahl Rail brought expertise in maintenance, railway infrastructure safety, complex system digital engineering, industrial marking and signage, and metallurgical components adapted to local railway infrastructure constraints, as well as committed urban mobility solutions. This initiative, led by Business France and supported by Terracotta Manpower, highlights the deepening ties between France and the UAE in advancing sustainable, future-ready infrastructure. It also reaffirms France's strategic commitment to partnering with the UAE in shaping the next generation of smart mobility across the region. Hoor Al Qasimi, President and Director of Sharjah Art Foundation, on Tuesday received the insignia of Officier de l'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres (Officer of the Order of Arts and Letters), conferred by Nicolas Niemtchinow, Ambassador of France to the UAE, during a ceremony at The Flying Saucer, Sharjah. Since 1957, this award has honoured individuals who have made significant contributions to the arts. The insignia of the Order of Arts and Letters is an expression of France's recognition of those who have actively worked to promote art and culture both in France and abroad. Al Qasimi remarked, 'It is with great honour that I receive this award granted by the Embassy of France in the UAE. The insignia of Officer of the Order of Arts and Letters is a wonderful reflection of the collaborations and cultural exchanges that have shaped my work, in Sharjah, the UAE and internationally. It reaffirms the importance of continuing to build cultural dialogue through the arts. I accept this recognition, not only for myself, but for all those who have supported, guided and inspired me throughout my journey.' Sheikha Hoor's commitment to Franco-Emirati friendship is further exemplified by her role within the Alliance Française of Sharjah. I also commend the Sharjah Biennial, which has become a reference in the world of contemporary art. Her Excellency Sheikha Hoor has always worked to showcase French and Francophone artists in this Biennial.' Dr. Ali Rashid Al Nuaimi, Chairman of the Defence, Interior and Foreign Affairs Committee in the Federal National Council (FNC), met today in Abu Dhabi with Nicolas Niemtchinow, Ambassador of France to the UAE, exploring avenues to strengthen parliamentary cooperation to better serve the shared interests of both countries and their people. During the meeting, which was attended by Meera Al Suwaidi, FNC Member, both sides emphasised the strong friendship and long-standing ties between the UAE and France. Al Nuaimi highlighted the steadily growing bilateral relations, particularly in key strategic sectors. He also noted that the UAE and France have witnessed significant progress in their partnership, especially following the signing of the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA). This agreement has fostered closer cooperation in vital areas such as energy, climate action, economic and technological development, sustainability, and cultural exchange.
