Tracee Ellis Ross Shared 1 Thing A Date Did That Made Her Cringe
Tracee Ellis Ross' recent dating excursion turned out to be a series of unfortunate events. Ross moseyed on down to 'Jimmy Kimmel Live,' guest-hosted by comedian Nicole Byer, to discuss an array of topics — including the ongoing quest to find one's soulmate. 'It's rough out there. The streets are bad,' Byer said, commenting on the current dating climate. Finding the perfect man is like scoring a one-of-a-kind Gucci purse at a thrift store: to find it, you'll have to dig. And scoring the metaphorical bag was not the case when Ross shared a dating story that left audience members shocked and appalled. 'I'm not gonna tell the whole story, but in a nutshell, [he] sat down, the drinks came, and he took out his phone, put it and leaned it on the glass and watched a basketball game,' she recalled — labeling it as one of the 'worst dates' she's had recently. Ross said she assessed the situation — and after she realized it wasn't a practical joke, she tried to make the best of an awkward situation. 'So I was like, 'So who's playing?' And he put his hand up. As in like, 'Don't let me miss anything.'' In lieu of the ground opening up and swallowing her whole, Ross said she texted her friends, 'I need to leave here.' Byer asked if she stayed and ordered another round, to which Ross replied that it was strictly a one-and-done situation. But, the plot? It thickens. Unfortunately, said Fox News broadcast hit a snag when instead of playing a preview of the podcast episode they pulled up news footage of an unidentified street fight from another news story on the broadcast. 'Well, that was not the clip,' the anchor said before Byer jumped back in. 'OK, but I'm still going to pretend it was!' she said. Byer's jokes about Fox News targeting Kimmel came amid heightened speculation that President Donald Trump has his thumb on the scale of network staffing decisions after Paramount and CBS canceled 'The Late Show With Stephen Colbert' last month. While the president has maintained he wasn't responsible for CBS canceling the program, the Trump camp has continued to suggest certain programs that criticize him are at risk of a similar fate. Back in July, the Trump administration said 'The View,' which has continuously criticized Trump, is 'next to be pulled off the air.' That same month, Trump stated that he 'absolutely' loves that Colbert was fired and said he heard Kimmel was next to go. He later doubled down on his predictions that Kimmel would be 'next,' and added Jimmy Fallon into the mix. 'Fallon has no talent. Kimmel has no talent,' Trump said during a press conference on Aug. 6, according to Fox News. 'They're next. They're going to be going. I hear they're going to be going. I don't know, but I would imagine because they'd get — you know, Colbert has better ratings than Kimmel or Fallon.' Swift announced the news of her upcoming album 'The Life of a Showgirl' via her website on Monday. On Wednesday, she shared that the album will drop Oct. 3. Jimmy Kimmel Live! guest host Nicole Byer on Monday had a blunt reminder for President Donald Trump over his false claims about 'out of control' crime in the District of Columbia — talk he pushed while announcing plans to take control of the police force in the nation's capital. 'I mean, the man's got a point. D.C. can be a very, very dangerous place. I remember, on Jan. 6, 2021, when someone told an angry mob to get their steps in by storming the Capitol. And that someone was the president!' quipped the comedian in a nod to the deadly riot. Byer went on to suggest that she went too far, adding that she didn't want to get Kimmel in 'trouble' before his return to the program. She proceeded to take a much more flattering tone, 'Great job, Mr. President! Oh my God, you go, girl! We love what you're doing! You're the smartest man alive, you're hung like a tarantula!'
