The case came to light after Milan Pota, a regular customer, approached the store's liaison officer, Chetan Jadav, on May 4. According to Jadav's police complaint, Pota had made an online payment of Rs 3 lakh on Jan 10 and later deposited old jewellery — including a diamond ring worth Rs 14 lakh — with Dhadhda on March 19. In return, the customer had ordered newly designed jewellery, which Dhadhda was responsible for delivering.
The new jewellery was never delivered. Instead, Dhadhda allegedly retained the items, sold them and misappropriated the proceeds.
The complaint further states that despite repeated attempts to recover the money — including filing an initial police application and giving Dhadhda time to return the funds — no reimbursement was FIR was thus lodged on Tuesday at Rajkot Taluka police station.
Dhadhda had been transferred from Tanishq's Gandhidham showroom before the alleged offence occurred in Rajkot. Police are investigating the case.
