'One of our #Bravehearts sustained grievous injuries in the exchange of fire and has succumbed despite best medical efforts,' a tweet from Nagrota-based White Knight Corps said on the social media website X.

According to police sources, a group of 3-4 terrorists from the proscribed Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) are believed to be trapped in the area, and a joint cordon-and-search operation involving the Jammu and Kashmir Police, the Indian Army, and paramilitary forces is currently ongoing.
The operation was launched after what sources described as 'precise intelligence input' provided by the local police. The trapped terrorists are thought to be part of the same group that recently escaped an earlier encounter in the same region.
This follows recent encounters in South Kashmir's Tral and Shopian, where six terrorists were killed.
