Eda Ezrin and Aida Mamat return home after police statements
KOTA BHARU: Police confirmed that dikir barat singer Wan Norshaheeda Azlin Wan, known as Eda Ezrin, and Nur Aida Mamat, 33, finished giving statements at Rantau Panjang Police Station in Pasir Mas last night. Bukit Aman Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department director Datuk Hussein Omar Khan stated both were allowed to return to their families. Regarding four others still in Thailand, he said they may return today if their passports are reactivated. The four individuals are Eridieka Mohd Noor, 33, Zuhaira Nasrin, Eda's husband Mohd Affendi Ahmad, 35, and Mohamad Alif Deraman, 33. Eda and Nur Aida arrived at the police station around 8 pm and left by 11.15 pm after completing the statement process. Both women were picked up by family members, with Nur Aida leaving in a Honda HR-V at 11.30 pm. Eda departed in a Honda City Hatchback about 10 minutes later. Earlier reports stated the Narathiwat Prison Court in Thailand released Eda, her husband, and four others at 11 am local time yesterday. Prosecutors failed to produce witnesses and evidence to appeal a prior decision. All six were detained on Nov 1 last year for allegedly possessing 6,059 yaba pills. The court rejected the prosecution's sixth request to extend the appeal deadline on Wednesday. Eda and Nur Aida were brought out of Sungai Golok, Narathiwat, in a Thai immigration van around 7 pm after completing documentation. - Bernama

Body Of Missing Rohingya Girl Found In Drain In Ampang
Subscribe to our FREE A young Rohingya girl was suspected to have drowned after she fell into a drain and swept away by strong currents near the MPAJ hall in Kampung Cheras Baru, Ampang on 19 May. Yesterday morning (20 May), her body was found some six kilometers from the point of the drain where she reportedly fell in, Malay Mail reported. Ampang Jaya police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Azam Ismail said the body of the 10-year-old Rohingya victim, Nur Aida Nur Muhammad, was discovered in Sungai Kerayong, Taman Cheras Indah, at 11.20am. Meanwhile, the Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue Department's Water Rescue Team (PPDA) operations commander Mohamad Riduan Akhyar said the victim's body was stuck along the riverbank, and was handed over to the police for further action. Another child also fell into the drain but was rescued It was reported that an 11-year-old child also fell into the drain with Nur Aida. Fortunately, members of the public managed to save the child from being swept away by the strong currents. Both children were on their way home from school when the incident occurred. Nur Aida's father, Nur Muhammad Tufail Ahmad, expressed his deep sorrow over not being able to fulfil his daughter's wish for a family holiday. He mentioned that his eldest child (of four) frequently asked him to take the family on a holiday, but he couldn't oblige due to work commitments. 'A few days before the incident, she said she wanted to go out for a trip. I promised I would take her, but never got the chance. Now, I'm filled with regret,' he said remorsefuly. He added that he has come to terms with the loss, but deeply feels the absence of his daughter especially given her helpful nature and how often she helped her mother, who is currently in confinement after giving birth to their fourth child. Body of missing Rohingya girl found in Sungai Kerayong

KUALA LUMPUR: The body of a Rohingya girl, feared drowned after being swept away by strong currents in a drain near the MPAJ Hall in Kampung Cheras Baru, Ampang on Monday (May 19) night, was found on Tuesday (May 20) morning. Ampang Jaya police chief ACP Mohd Azam Ismail said the 10-year-old victim's body was discovered in Sungai Kerayong, Taman Cheras Indah, near here at 11.20am, about six kilometres from where she was reported to have fallen into a fast-flowing drain. "The body was taken to Ampang Hospital for a post-mortem," he said in a statement on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue Department's Water Rescue Team (PPDA) operations commander Mohamad Riduan Akhyar said the victim's body was found stuck along the riverbank and has been handed over to the police for further action. He said 11 members of the PPDA from the Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue Department, along with rescuers from the Cheras and Bandar Tun Razak Fire and Rescue Stations, resumed the search for the victim at around 9am on Tuesday. It was reported on Tueday that the victim, identified as Nur Aida Nur Muhammad, and another child aged 11, fell into the drain. Police received the report about the incident at 6.07pm. Public members rescued the other child, while the strong current swept away Nur Aida. It is understood that both children were on their way home from school when the incident occurred. Meanwhile, the victim's father, Nur Muhammad Tufail Ahmad, 36, expressed his deep regret over not being able to fulfil Nur Aida's wish for a family holiday. He said his eldest child of four often asked to go on holiday with the family, but her request could not be fulfilled due to work commitments. "A few days before the incident, she said she wanted to go out for a trip. I promised I would take her, but never got the chance. Now, I'm filled with regret," he said, holding back tears. He added that although he has come to terms with the loss, the absence of his daughter is deeply felt, especially given her helpful nature and how she often assisted her mother, who is currently in confinement after giving birth to their fourth child.
