Strict permit checks, heat safety rules in focus ahead of Hajj
MAKKAH: Pilgrims without a Nusuk card will not be granted access to the Grand Mosque, the holy sites or transportation services during this year's Hajj, Saudi authorities have said. Speaking at a meeting with heads of official Hajj missions during the 49th Grand Hajj Symposium in Jeddah, Minister of Hajj and Umrah Tawfiq Al-Rabiah highlighted the importance of adhering to movement regulations to protect pilgrims and enhance their spiritual experience. He described the Nusuk card as a 'fundamental regulatory tool to ensure orderly performance of the pilgrimage and prevent violations,' according to the Saudi Press Agency. Addressing concerns about extreme weather, the minister advised pilgrims to remain in their tents on the Day of Arafah from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. to avoid heat-related illnesses. He warned that uncoordinated group movements compromise safety and disrupt the flow of pilgrims. The Day of Arafah, the most significant day of Hajj, falls on Thursday, June 5 this year. Al-Rabiah added that pilgrims must not walk from Arafat to Muzdalifah and should use designated transport systems instead. He said that effective crowd management and transportation plans are essential for safety and require collective compliance. Al-Rabiah added that this Hajj season will see stricter enforcement of permit regulations, in line with the Kingdom's commitment to a safe, organized and spiritually fulfilling pilgrimage. The Nusuk card, issued by the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, is a mandatory ID and entry pass for pilgrims and workers at the holy sites. In addition to identification, it aids logistics, facilitates communication with Hajj missions, grants access to schedules and services, and allows pilgrims to submit feedback. It also helps authorities monitor crowd movement and send alerts to ensure a safe and organized pilgrimage. Pilgrims receive the card through their service provider, which is responsible for its distribution. A digital version is available via the official Nusuk app, but it does not replace the printed card, which must be carried at all times. According to the ministry, the card expires at the end of the Hajj season, with all data erased. However, pilgrims may keep the physical card as a souvenir and proof of completing Hajj.

The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has urged pilgrims to remain in their tents on Arafah Day from 10am to 4pm and advised against venturing to Jabal Al Rahmah or Namirah Mosque to avoid exposure to extreme heat. As part of its heightened efforts to prepare for the Hajj season 1446 AH and ensure that pilgrims can perform their rituals with ease and tranquillity, the Ministry issued safety guidelines in light of high temperatures at the holy sites. Saudi Hajj heat warning The ministry emphasised the importance of adhering to the authorisation schedules set by the relevant authorities and ensuring compliance at all stages of movement between the holy sites. It also stressed the necessity of using the approved means of transport, as outlined in the official transportation plan, and refraining from walking between locations during the designated times. The ministry also reminded pilgrims of the importance of safeguarding the 'Nusuk' card and presenting it when requested. Every pilgrim is required to carry the card while in the holy sites and must ensure it is not misplaced, as it serves as a vital identification document that facilitates access and provides assistance when necessary. The ministry stressed the need to follow these guidelines to ensure the safety of all pilgrims in Saudi Arabia. The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah highlighted to the representatives of service provider companies the importance of urging pilgrims to adhere to the ministry's guidelines to ensure their safety, allowing them to perform their rituals with ease and tranquillity.

Saudi officials welcome a pilgrim upon his arrival at Jeddah Airport. SPA The General Directorate of Public Security of Saudi Arabia has also released a video showcasing a drone equipped with a high-resolution camera monitoring violators and vehicles attempting to transport unauthorized pilgrims without the mandatory official permits, commonly known as the Nusuk Card, the foreign media further said. As part of the high-profile campaign 'No Hajj Without a Permit,' Saudi security authorities are conducting a rigorous crackdown on illegal pilgrims and against their facilitators. The released footage shows a drone identifying a suspicious vehicle in the desert, suspected of carrying undocumented pilgrims. The drone relayed the vehicle's coordinates to security patrols, who promptly apprehended the violators. Meanwhile, spokesperson for Pakistan's Religious Ministry Muhammad Umar Butt while praising Saudi authorities' this initiative said, 'Saudi Arabia's commitment to modernising the pilgrimage experience through innovative technology demonstrates their dedication to ensuring pilgrims' comfort and convenience.'

Hajj: Nusuk card mandatory for pilgrims to enter Makkah
Muscat : Pilgrims will not be permitted to enter Makkah unless they hold a Nusuk card, confirming their Hajj permit. Oman Hajj Mission said in a statement :"The Oman Hajj Mission reminds you and emphasises the importance of wearing your Nusuk card, which you will receive from licensed Hajj companies, throughout your stay in the Holy Land. Please note that the competent authorities in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia will not permit entry to Makkah and the Holy Sites unless you hold a Nusuk card, confirming your Hajj permit. To facilitate the provision of services, we hope you will pay attention and adhere to this requirement."

Enhanced Nusuk Card to safeguard Malaysian pilgrims from forgery as Haj journey begins, says religious affairs minister
SEPANG, April 29 — The enhanced Nusuk Card is now equipped with a quick response (QR) code to prevent forgery of the official identification card for haj pilgrims, said Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Dr Mohd Na'im Mokhtar. He said the card now has several layers of security features to ensure the safety of its holders. 'This means that any attempt to duplicate it would be difficult as it comes with multiple enhanced security layers introduced by the Saudi Ministry of Haj and Umrah,' he told reporters after attending the Send-off Ceremony for Malaysian Haj Pilgrims for the 1446H/2025M Haj Season here today. Also present was Lembaga Tabung Haji chairman Tan Sri Abdul Rashid Hussain. Mohd Na'im said the Nusuk Card, introduced three years ago as the official identification document for pilgrims, has helped ease the entry of haj pilgrims from across the globe into the Masjidil Haram in Makkah, the Prophet's Mosque in Madinah, and other pilgrimage sites while performing the fifth pillar of Islam. Earlier, Mohd Na'im reminded the 284 Malaysian pilgrims who departed for the Holy Land early this morning to safeguard their Nusuk Cards at all times, as the card contains personal data, including passport and visa information, enabling easy identification of the pilgrims. 'You must take good care of the Nusuk Card since it's similar to our MyKad. Remember my advice, treat it just like you would your MyKad,' he said. On flight arrangements for the 31,600 Malaysian pilgrims for this haj season, Mohd Na'im said a total of 100 special chartered flights via AMAL by Malaysia Airlines Bhd and Saudia Airlines have been scheduled starting today, with the final flight set for June 1. 'The first group of Malaysian pilgrims is expected to arrive at the Prince Mohammad bin Abdulaziz International Airport in Madinah at 7.50 am (Saudi time) tomorrow,' he added. Malaysia's official haj quota allocated by the Saudi Arabian government this year is 31,600 pilgrims, who will arrive in the Holy Land in stages. — Bernama
