Enhanced Nusuk Card to safeguard Malaysian pilgrims from forgery as Haj journey begins, says religious affairs minister
He said the card now has several layers of security features to ensure the safety of its holders.
'This means that any attempt to duplicate it would be difficult as it comes with multiple enhanced security layers introduced by the Saudi Ministry of Haj and Umrah,' he told reporters after attending the Send-off Ceremony for Malaysian Haj Pilgrims for the 1446H/2025M Haj Season here today.
Also present was Lembaga Tabung Haji chairman Tan Sri Abdul Rashid Hussain.
Mohd Na'im said the Nusuk Card, introduced three years ago as the official identification document for pilgrims, has helped ease the entry of haj pilgrims from across the globe into the Masjidil Haram in Makkah, the Prophet's Mosque in Madinah, and other pilgrimage sites while performing the fifth pillar of Islam.
Earlier, Mohd Na'im reminded the 284 Malaysian pilgrims who departed for the Holy Land early this morning to safeguard their Nusuk Cards at all times, as the card contains personal data, including passport and visa information, enabling easy identification of the pilgrims.
'You must take good care of the Nusuk Card since it's similar to our MyKad. Remember my advice, treat it just like you would your MyKad,' he said.
On flight arrangements for the 31,600 Malaysian pilgrims for this haj season, Mohd Na'im said a total of 100 special chartered flights via AMAL by Malaysia Airlines Bhd and Saudia Airlines have been scheduled starting today, with the final flight set for June 1.
'The first group of Malaysian pilgrims is expected to arrive at the Prince Mohammad bin Abdulaziz International Airport in Madinah at 7.50 am (Saudi time) tomorrow,' he added.
Malaysia's official haj quota allocated by the Saudi Arabian government this year is 31,600 pilgrims, who will arrive in the Holy Land in stages. — Bernama

This area serves as a critical hub for Malaysian and regional airspace operations. Performance data from May 2025 shows KLIA recorded an 86.54 per cent departure route efficiency. This slightly exceeds the global benchmark of 86.34 per cent for major international airports. Despite a 15 per cent increase in air traffic volume since October 2024, the airport achieved additional improvements. Arrival route efficiency saw a 1.34 per cent enhancement during the same period. CAAM chief executive officer Datuk Captain Norazman Mahmud emphasized the significance of these advancements. These developments demonstrate CAAM's commitment to innovation, safety, and efficiency in Malaysian airspace management. By adopting international best practices and advanced procedures, Malaysia positions itself as a regional leader. A Grab spokesman attributed the elevated rates to a temporary display glitch, with fares returning to normal as of about 12.20pm. The company confirmed that the technical issue affected multiple markets simultaneously, with prices jumping about a hundred times from usual rates. Crucially, Grab clarified that the glitch was purely a display error and did not affect actual bookings or charges to users. Malaysian users were quick to document the unusual fares. Colourful National Day celebration in Putrajaya
PUTRAJAYA: Putrajaya will burst into colour on Aug 31 as Malaysia marks National Day. There will be parades, performances and community festivities to unite the nation in patriotism. The celebration will begin on Aug 30 with Riuh Merdeka, a festival of entertainment and togetherness. From noon until the next day, visitors can enjoy 20 live performances by Malaysian artistes, an open-air film screening and a feast from 60 food trucks at Monumen Alaf Baru in Precinct 2. But the highlight would come at dawn on National Day, said Information Department director-general Julina Johan. "By 7am, leaders will gather to welcome His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, whose arrival will mark the start of the official ceremony," she said at a media briefing on the National Day and Malaysia Day celebrations here yesterday. She said a recital of the Rukun Negara and a 14-gun salute would set the tone of the celebration before a parade of impressive scale and colour takes centre stage. She said more than 14,000 participants, including students, uniformed personnel and non-governmental organisations, would march along the 2.1km route from Dataran Putra. The spectacle, she said, would feature 78 vehicles, seven decorated floats, 116 animals and 21 marching bands. This year's event was designed to be more accessible and comfortable for the public, she said. "A total of 15,000 parking spaces have been set aside across nearby precincts, with free transport by 100 shuttle buses and six water taxis on Putrajaya Lake. "Spectator seating has been doubled to 8,000, supported by 12 giant LED screens, 18 medical tents, five surau and more than 200 portable toilets. The celebration extends beyond the parade. The nationwide Jualan Rahmah Merdeka Madani campaign, which started on Aug 15, will keep basic goods affordable in the run-up to National Day, while the #BersamaMalaysia campaign urges Malaysians to reflect on the meaning of independence. The full dress rehearsal on Aug 29 will be open to the public. Julina advised visitors to plan ahead due to road closures in Putrajaya from 10pm on Aug 29 to 6pm on National Day.
