Dewan Rakyat To Discuss Bullying Prevention And Ombudsman Malaysia Status
Measures to tackle bullying in both public and private higher education institutions, as well as the government's decision on the establishment of Ombudsman Malaysia, will be key topics at today's Dewan Rakyat sitting. According to the Order Papers on Parliament's official website, Afnan Hamimi Taib Azamudden (PN-Alor Setar) will question the Higher Education Minister on the specific steps being taken to prevent bullying during Minister's Question Time. Meanwhile, Syahredzan Johan (PH-Bangi) will ask the Prime Minister about the government's decision following a comprehensive engagement with stakeholders on the Ombudsman Malaysia's status and plans to expedite its implementation. During the oral question session, Suhaizan Kaiat (PH-Pulai) will raise concerns with the Health Minister over complaints about high treatment costs in private hospitals. He will also inquire about the government's five-year plan to introduce the Diagnostic-Related Groups (DRG) system to streamline healthcare cost structures and whether there is a proposal to establish a tribunal for patients to voice dissatisfaction. Rushdan Rusmi (PN-Padang Besar) will ask the Human Resources Minister whether there is a plan to create an Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Coordinator role in the public sector, aligned with the 2022 amendments to the OSH Act. Following the question session, the Dewan Rakyat will continue debating the 13th Malaysia Plan (13MP), which has seen contributions from 78 MPs so far since Monday. This Dewan Rakyat session is scheduled to run for 24 days until 28 August.
