Aldi changes name of UK store forever in move that shoppers are hailing as ‘biblical'

ALDI has permanently changed the name of one of its popular UK branches in a move hailed as 'biblical'. In honour of the Oasis reunion, the store in Greater Manchester will forever be known as 'Aldeh'. 3 The hilarious change was only meant to be temporary, but after a petition was launched for it to stay for good, Aldi bosses gave it the green light. Manchester local, Ella Curtis, gathered over 1,300 signatures and was backed by Bury MP Christian Wakefield. "What started as a nod to a special reunion quickly took on a life of its own. The rebrand resonated with people across Manchester and beyond," she wrote. "Photos of the sign went viral because it tapped into something meaningful: pride in where we're from, and in what this city has given the world. In short, Prestwich got its own Blue Plaque." Gig goers posed in front of the new 'Aldeh' on Bury New Rd before heading to Heaton Park to watch the band make a triumphant return. The sign has even been listed on Google Maps as a cultural landmark and has collected a string of five-star reviews. One visitor wrote: "Finally, a shop that speaks my language. It's no longer Aldi, it's Aldeh, and that rebrand alone deserves a knighthood." "Greatest rebrand of all time!! What a nod to the Gallaghers and Manchester," another added. A third cleverly crafted his review with Oasis lyrics: "I live Half the World Away, but I was top mad for it. What felt like driving All Around The World. Some Might Say I was crazy, Definitely Maybe. But Be Here now, I stared at the Wonderwall with awe, Stand By me when I say this. 10/10 attraction." "As LG would say... Biblical," another wrote. Before the big change, Aldi teased fans on social media about making it a permanent fixture. "Boss said we also need 10,000 likes and a comment from one of the Gallaghers," a spokesperson for the store typed on Facebook. It got 15,000 likes - which meant Aldi had no choice. Liam Gallagher even shared a photo of the name change on Instagram. Noel's daughter Anais also showed her appreciation for the sign on Aldi's TikTok post. Giles Hurley, chief executive officer at Aldi UK, confirmed the move on LinkedIn. "Last week, a petition was launched by a local resident calling for us to keep the sign. "So naturally, we took to social media to see what our shoppers thought, turns out… people are mad for it and want the sign to stay. "I'm pleased to announce that we'll be keeping the Aldeh sign as a tribute to Manchester! As you were," he wrote. Julie Ashfield, Aldi's chief commercial officer, added: "We've been blown away by the public's reaction to 'Aldeh'. "What started as a fun, temporary tribute to Oasis and the local accent has turned into something far bigger. "We've heard shoppers loud and clear and we're absolutely delighted to keep the sign up for the long haul." The brothers returned to Manchester this month with five homecoming gigs at Heaton Park - their first in the city in 16 years. They belted out classics like 'Don't Look Back in Anger' and 'Supersonic' to the delight of hard-core fans. 3 3

Randy swingers target Liam Gallagher's home and brag about romping in his garden while he's on Oasis tour

LIAM GALLAGHER may be glad to be closer to home as the Oasis tour hits Wembley on Friday – as a bunch of randy swingers are planning to have sex in his garden. One exhibitionist going by the name Jimmy on a members-only swingers site posted: 'Anyone up for meets with me and my lady? 11 ' Liam Gallagher has a place that backs on to the trees so could sneak into his garden. 'That could be a laff. Email for deets.' Another swinger, who had the rather unoriginal user name Sex-Time, said he was up for it and responded: 'He's on tour with Oasis so we won't get caught.' The rest of the messages are too saucy to share, but you get my drift. I'm pretty sure Liam's adorable rescue dog Buttons would make short work of anyone who dared to get down and dirty anywhere near Liam's garden. Council bores But if I was him, I'd definitely be beefing up my home security. Liam and his brother Noel are now enjoying a few rest days before their Wembley shows with their bandmates Paul 'Bonehead' Arthurs, Gem Archer, Andy Bell and American drummer Joey Waronker. The band will play five shows at Wembley over the next fortnight, then head off to Edinburgh and Ireland before returning for two final gigs in September. American Oasis fans will then be able to get their fill of the reunited band. The brothers were triumphant together when they went home to Manchester for five huge shows at Heaton Park. Oasis kick off historic reunion tour as Noel & Liam reunite for first show in Cardiff And despite city council bores trying to block the view for ticketless fans on nearby Gallagher Hill, the concerts could not have been more successful. During their opening shows in Cardiff, it is thought that almost £4million was brought into the local economy thanks to the gigs. And I've no doubt that the same boost will have come to Manchester, after three Joseph Holt pubs — the ones closest to Heaton Park — told me they poured more than 100,000 pints during the course of the five shows. That's not counting all the drinks and food sold by vendors on site, nor the hotels, which saw customers from all over the world staying with them to watch the lads in action. Oasis fever is going to hit the capital from tomorrow night — and I for one cannot wait. 11 SAMIRA'S IN A NEW CARDI 11 11 WITH CHARLI XCX married, it seems the brat summer is over – but Samira Mighty is ready to take on the mantle of party-loving pop star. The former Love Islander has today dropped her steamy summer banger Cardio, and she reckons it will be raising temperatures on the dancefloor. In an exclusive chat, she said: 'I like doing songs like Cardio because it is a bit different to my other stuff. 'I want to shock people. 'Cardio is all about being like a dominant, sexy girl. And I think I'm coming into my sexy girl era now. 'With stuff like Charli XCX, Brat and Shygirl, it's just so now. Everyone's just in their party girl era, aren't they?' Cardio is packed full of racy lyrics but Samira was surprised to find that even her parents were fans of the tune. But she reckons they may have been less keen if they had seen her acting out some of the song's raunchy lines when she was on Love Island in 2018. This year's series has shown far more bedroom antics, and she said: 'Oh my God, my grandma would disown, my dad would disown. 'I'd be living somewhere else. 'It would be bad.' As an actress, Samira is juggling her music with a gruesome role in new Brit horror movie Bambi: The Reckoning – which is not for the faint-hearted. After seeing a clip she said: 'I was shocked. 'I've never seen myself cut in half by Bambi, but my character was annoying anyway. 'She deserved it.' Ouch. ALICIA CLUELESS? AS IF... 11 ALICIA SILVERSTONE proved she's still every inch Cher Horowitz as she celebrated Clueless's 30th anniversary. The actress put on Cher's famous yellow checked co-ord and recreated an iconic scene from the film with a very special twist. She went through the motions of the scene in the movie where Cher is seen walking along, inset, before a man jumps out of nowhere and puts his arm around her and she shouts: 'As if!' But this time it wasn't an unknown teen trying to approach her, but her 20-year-old son Bear. Sharing the reel with her 3.1 million Instagram followers, Alicia wrote on Instagram: 'Entering Clueless's 30th anniversary weekend like . . .' Fans can head to the Trafalgar Theatre in London for the West End version of the film now. I can't think of a better way to celebrate. IT'S BURL OR NOTHING FOR CHRISTINA 11 MORE than 15 years after she starred in Burlesque alongside Cher and Stanley Tucci, Christina Aguilera has brought a stage production of the movie to the West End. Speaking outside the Savoy Theatre in London, where the show opens tomorrow, the US singer said: 'I love taking a step back and a back seat . . . it's beautiful to see the reinvention. 'When you're in it, you focus on the choreography, all these different elements. 'Being able to take a back seat and being more of a visionary of the bigger picture, it's really a special thing.' Actress Jess Folley takes on Christina's role as Ali in the stage version, with the Dirrty singer heaping praise on her, adding: 'She is doing such a magnificent, magnificent job and likewise inspires me as well.' DRAKE CREW'S CHICKEN RAPS 11 HE might have let down fans with a rather short performance on the final night of his Wireless Festival takeover. But the 400-strong team who joined Drake on tour were loving life after the Hotline Bling star splashed the cash on their catering. Insiders tell me that when the US rapper headed to Birmingham for a trio of shows there, he spent £3,327.25 on nosh for his crew. Drake called a local branch of American chain Dave's Hot Chicken to put in his order, which included £1,059.80 on 60 medium spice sliders and £529.90 on 30 hot spice sliders. If that wasn't enough, he also paid £739.80 for 60 boxes of chicken tenders, along with £299.75 for French fries, 100 pots of Mac N Cheese at £349 and 100 portions of kale slaw for the same price. Drake chose to order from Dave's Hot Chicken after investing in the chain back in 2021, but as his receipt proves, he didn't even get a discount. I'm outraged he forgot a few tubs of Dave's sauce. That stuff is addictive. CHRIS OUT IN THE COLD SHE may be besties with her ex Chris Martin but it turns out Coldplay is not Gwyneth Paltrow 's favourite band. Opening up about her kids Moses and Apple influencing her music choices, Gwyneth said: 'They teach me about new acts a lot. 'My son is always teaching me about cool new bands like this one band called Royel Otis that I'm obsessed with. 'Apple has got me into French indie pop. 'I learn something from these guys every day.' But, much to her kids' horror, Gwyneth does still like a golden oldie. Asked on her Goop podcast if there was anything she liked that was uncool, she replied as quick as a flash: 'Phil Collins. 'I love Phil Collins.' Must be something in the air. WITH LULU four years off turning 80, she says she's now stopped giving a toss what people think and has started to let loose. Speaking on stage at a concert at Englefield House, Berks, the Scots singer, said: 'As I've got to 76 I've become reckless and let it all hang out. 'Every gig is special to me – more and more so as I get older. 'I've always loved it and appreciated it, but there's an extra level of appreciation there, because how lucky am I to be here with you? 'I could be at home cleaning up after lunch, washing the bloody dishes or something – but I'd much rather do this.' I'm sure the sight of Lulu in a pair of marigolds would be thrilling for some . . . HE is still on the final leg of his colossal Mathematics world tour, which has seen him performing to more than six million fans over the past three years. And Ed Sheeran isn't ready to put his feet up just yet. The Azizam singer has announced a brand new tour, Loop, which will see him hitting the road again in the new year. Ed said: 'New stage, new tricks, new set-up, new songs and all the classics added in. 'We kick it off in Australia and New Zealand in Jan, Feb, March 2026, which is always the best time. 'I can't wait to be back.'

Noel Gallagher takes pop at royal family

Noel Gallagher has taken a pop at the royal family. The 58-year-old, currently back on the road with Oasis, didn't mince words when addressing his views on the British monarchy during the last the band's homecoming reunion gigs in Manchester on Sunday (20.07.25) evening. He said on stage at Heaton Park before a rendition of Half the World Away: 'This one, for the Royal Family... not that f****** Royal Family! The real Royle Family.' He was referencing how the song is the much-loved title track of The Royle Family sitcom. His remark came during Oasis' closing night of their five-show residency in Manchester, which saw Oasis play to more than 80,000 fans each night. Noel's disdain for the monarchy is not new. In 2022, ahead of Queen Elizabeth II's Platinum Jubilee, he told The Matt Morgan Podcast: 'I'm not like anti-royal or anything. I don't hate the Queen or none of them; they were all born into it. '(But) there are other things for people to be interested in… the appeal of the monarchy is dwindling. It's a bit farcical.' Meanwhile, Liam, 52, also used the last of the Manchester shows to comment on a viral social media moment involving Coldplay. He joked: 'This one's for all you love birds… Don't worry, we don't have a camera – it's not a Coldplay moment.' Noel added: 'It's none of our business who you're tingling with, mingling with, and with,' before launching into Slide Away. The remarks referenced a Coldplay concert at Gillette Stadium in Boston, where frontman Chris Martin, 47, jokingly identified audience members Andy Byron, 50, and Kristin Cabot, whose intimate embrace sparked speculation and headlines over their reported affair after a clip of the moment went viral. Andy, then CEO of data company Astronomer, has resigned from his role after the footage gained more than 120 million views online. Oasis are next set to perform seven nights at Wembley Stadium. Their last performance at the venue took place on 12 July 2009 during the Dig Out Your Soul tour, weeks before their eventual split in Paris. Reflecting on an earlier 2000 Wembley gig, Noel once said: 'That was the low point in Oasis. It was a horrible two-and-a-half hours on stage. Liam can hang his head in shame. It was dreadful.'

Petition to make 'Aldeh' sign on store near Heaton Park permanent

A petition has been launched to make the 'Aldeh' sign in Prestwich permanent. The sign was changed to commemorate Oasis' reunion concerts in Heaton Park - the first time they had played together in Manchester in nearly 16 years. Getting into the spirit of the concert, Aldi altered the sign for their store on Bury Old Road in Prestwich to read "Aldeh" instead of "Aldi". READ MORE: Shock as new signs appear on major road cutting speed limit to 30mph READ MORE: 'Within just two days we could lose our homes' The change in spelling was intended to reflect the Mancunian pronunciation of the shop, reflecting the Gallagher brothers' own a petition has started to keep the new sign on the shopfront permanently, and has already gathered 834 signatures at the time of writing. In a petition posted to Ella Curtis wrote: "What started as a nod to a special reunion, quickly took on a life of its own. The rebrand resonated with people across Manchester and beyond. "Photos of the sign went viral, because it tapped into something meaningful: pride in where we're from, and in what this city has given the world. In short, Prestwich got its own Blue Plaque. "That's why I'm starting this petition to ask Aldi to make the 'Aldeh' sign permanent." She went on to list several reasons "why it matters" that the sign be kept up after the Oasis concerts in Heaton Park conclude this weekend. These include that it was "a tribute to Manchester's Cultural Legacy", and that it "reflects that heritage in a way that feels authentic, local, and proud." The petition also hailed the sign as "a source of local pride", adding: "In a time when towns often struggle to feel distinctive, this simple change has sparked something genuinely positive." She even hailed the sign, launched by Aldi, as "a cultural landmark in the making". It continued: "It is a symbol and reminder of how we, as Mancunians all came together to celebrate of the biggest reunion concerts from one of the world's biggest bands happening right on our doorstep! "The 'Aldeh' sign might have started as a temporary campaign, but it's come to mean something more - to this city, to its people, and to anyone who recognises the power of music and place." Oasis' concerts at Heaton Park have seen fans flocking to Prestwich as they make their way to the reunion performances of the Oasis Live '25 Tour. This weekend will see the group taking to the stage again for the final two performances of their Manchester section before heading down to London for five dates at Wembley Stadium. Oasis will then head up to Scotland, Ireland, and around the world with concerts from Mexico City to Tokyo, before concluding the tour with two dates in São Paulo in November. Anyone who wants to read the petition can do so here.

Richard Ashcroft makes on-stage quip as he supports Oasis after Shazam moment in Cardiff

Richard Ashcroft made an on-stage quip about an incident at the Principality Stadium when he opened for Oasis in Manchester. As the frontman of The Verve played onstage in Cardiff ahead of the first Oasis reunion date a fan was spotted using the Shazam app to identify the smash-hit Bitter Sweet Symphony. A video showing a fan using the mobile phone app that identifies music by analysing a short sample of audio went viral following Oasis' first show at the Principality Stadium on Friday, July 4 The fan was caught using the app as Ashcroft performed the 1997 The Verve classic, leaving many fans in complete disbelief on social media. One person described it as "very embarrassing" and another suggested the fan "should have been escorted off the premises." While opening for the Gallagher brothers at Heaton Park on Friday night Ashcroft said to the crowd: "Get your Shazams out!" as the opening notes played out. Another added: "Not everyone is 50 years old." Last week Ashcroft was welcoming to those discovering the song while thanking fans on his Instagram page. He wrote: "Day two.
