Rajasthan govt to soon bring out a policy to boost film production

Rajasthan is planning to come out with a policy soon in a bid to boost film and television production in the state. Diya Kumari, the state's deputy chief minister who also holds the tourism portfolio, has directed officials to finalise the policy, alongside working on plans to boost adventure tourism in the state. This will be the second attempt at such a policy — according to a tourism department official, the first dedicated policy for film tourism had been issued in 2022 to attract film shootings and production. The new policy will include ways of easing the processes involved in obtaining approvals for shooting and disbursement of subsidies. The state has consistently attracted filmmakers from around the world due to its scenic locales like forts, palaces and sand dunes. 'Classics like Mughal-e-Azam (1960) and Guide (1965) were shot in the state. Endless scenes of dunes, drying chillies and village locations are commonplace for films with a rural setting. Even some of the blockbuster television serials and advertisements have Rajasthan as their backdrop,' a tourism department official said. He added that Hollywood has also utilised Rajasthan's locations, with films like Octopussy (1983) and Holy Smoke (1999). Globally renowned director Satyajit Ray also shot a large portion of Sonar Kella (1971) in the state. The tourism department is also planning to map the potential of adventure tourism activities (water-based, air-based, and land-based), in consultation with concerned departments and prepare a dedicated policy to provide a framework to entrepreneurs to set up relevant projects in the state. According to an initial plan, the department will work closely with the forest department, the Rajasthan State Forest Development Corporation, local bodies, and the irrigation department for the development of adventure tourism activities. Rajasthan Tourism Development Corporation (RTDC) will be the implementing agency for these activities.

Meet one of the first global actors from India who married 4 times, featured in James Bond film and worked with Shah Rukh Khan, Hrithik Roshan

Decades ago, a talented actor joined the Indian film industry. Through his commendable work and acting prowess, he entertained the global audience, eventually becoming the first international actor from India. Apart from being part of a James Bond film, he shared the screen with the likes of Shah Rukh Khan, Hrithik Roshan, and others. Well, we're talking about veteran actor Kabir Bedi. Born to popular parents, Kabir Bedi entered the entertainment world through theater. Slowly, he stepped foot into the Indian film industry and then bagged projects in Hollywood. Over time, he managed to spread his wings in Europe, eventually becoming a popular face across borders. While his professional life is worthy of making headlines, he has also been in the news because of his personal life. Bedi made his debut with Zeenat Aman in the 1971 movie, Hulchul. His impressive filmography boasts the James Bond film titled Octopussy, in which Bedi played the villain's aide Gobinda. He was also part of the American war film, The Beast of War, directed by Kevin Reynolds. Some of the highlights of his film career include movies like Kuchhe Dhaage, Nagin, Khoon Bhari Maang, Kismat, Maine Dil Tujhko Diya, Talaash, The Hero: Love Story of a Spy, Main Hoon Na, Taj Mahal: An Eternal Love Story, Dilwale, Saheb, Biwi Aur Gangster 3, Berlin, and more. He has also acted in multiple popular TV shows. On the personal front, the senior actor has been married four times. He first got into wedlock with an Odissi dancer named Protima Bedi, with whom he had a daughter, actress Pooja Bedi. The couple also had a son, Siddharth, who sadly passed away at the age of 26. After his marriage to Protima broke down, he was allegedly in a relationship with popular actress Parveen Babi. However, they never got married. Bedi later tied the knot with fashion designer Susan Humphreys, and soon, they were blessed with a son named Adam Bedi. Later, this marriage also ended in divorce; the Maa Bahen Aur Biwi actor married Nikki Bedi. Sadly, this wedding ended in 2005. His fourth wedding happened a day before his 70th birthday with British-born Parveen Dusanj. It's worth noting that Srikanth actress Alaya F is his granddaughter.

In a deeply personal revelation, he recalled how his son Siddharth's tragic death by suicide in the late 1990s coincided with a time when he was battling serious financial difficulties. The actor admitted that this period nearly broke him, both personally and professionally. 'Main tabaah ho gaya tha (I was ruined)," Kabir said, describing how he lost control of his life. Kabir Bedi was 'emotionally ruined' by son Siddharth's death by suicide, lost all his money in bad investments: ‘Main tabaah ho gaya'

Kabir Bedi, who went through many ups and downs in his life, recently spoke about his financial struggles that had him re-evaluate his decisions in life. Kabir shared that since he did not come from an affluent family, he was excited to earn some money internationally but gradually, he realised that his expenses were more than his earnings. His bad investments and a flamboyant lifestyle brought him to a place where he felt he would be 'on the streets' if he does not take control of the situation. In a chat with BBC News Hindi, Kabir shared that in his early days, having some money gave him peace of mind. 'People who come from a background where finances are scarce, they always want to secure themselves financially so when I tasted success in Europe… I made some money and that was a very important thing for me because that gives you a sense of, 'I don't have to worry where my next meal is coming from or where my rent is coming from',' he said and added that the sudden influx of money can make one careless about their spending habits. 'If you have never had any money and suddenly you get some money, you think this will now be your permanent state and you start getting reckless with money. And if I were to give any advice to anyone, it would be that don't get careless with money. It's very difficult to make money but very easy to lose it,' he said and added, 'I made some wrong investments and lost a lot of money.' Kabir said that since one has tasted some stardom, they start spending a lot of money on the frills of being a star. 'You are a star, you should have a good house, good car, travel first class, that becomes your lifestyle and money keeps flowing out,' he said and added that people create financial problems for themselves in this fashion.
