Damaging waves and rain are set to hit parts of KwaZulu-Natal
KwaZulu-Natal will face a combination of isolated showers and dangerous sea conditions. A yellow level 2 warning has been issued for damaging waves along the southern coastline. The warning could disrupt sea navigation and affect small vessels in the area. 'Sea users, especially near southern KwaZulu-Natal, should be on high alert,' said Odirile Modipa, a forecaster with the weather service. 'The waves are expected to be strong and damaging.' Inland areas won't be spared from the weather changes either. Rain is expected to extend from the Eastern Cape into KwaZulu-Natal, bringing light but widespread showers across most parts of the province, especially during the morning and afternoon hours. Coastal cities like Durban and Richards Bay will experience maximum temperatures of 22°C and 25°C, respectively. Meanwhile, overnight lows will hover around 13°C in Port St. John's and 14°C in Margate. These conditions, combined with the ongoing rainfall, will keep KwaZulu-Natal cool and damp throughout the day. Further inland, areas such as Ladysmith and Pietermaritzburg can also expect light rain and lower daytime temperatures, with much of the province under partly cloudy to cloudy skies. Although KwaZulu-Natal is unlikely to see snow, the nearby high-altitude areas in Lesotho are expected to receive light snowfall overnight going into tomorrow. Wet conditions set to grip Gauteng
Gauteng residents should prepare for a drop in temperatures and scattered showers starting this evening and continuing into tomorrow. Weather forecasts indicate that the province will experience cloudy skies and isolated rainfall, with chilly overnight temperatures expected across the region. Residents of Johannesburg can expect the mercury to dip to around 7°C overnight, while Pretoria will remain only slightly warmer with a low of 8°C. Tomorrow's maximum temperatures will range between 21°C in Johannesburg and 22°C in Pretoria, offering a cool but manageable day ahead. 'We're expecting isolated showers over Gauteng starting this evening and persisting into tomorrow,' said Odirile Modipa, a weather forecaster. Alongside the showers, Gauteng will experience mostly cloudy skies, particularly in the morning. By the afternoon, conditions may begin to clear in some areas, but forecasters urge residents to keep warm and remain cautious on wet roads. The central interior, including parts of the Free State and North West, is also forecast to receive isolated rainfall. The light precipitation forms part of a system sweeping from the Western Cape and extending into the Eastern Cape, with snowfall expected over higher-lying mountainous areas in Lesotho and surrounding regions. While Gauteng won't see snow, the overall weather system contributes to the colder-than-usual conditions for this time of year. As the weather system moves inland, it brings a pattern of cold winds and cloudy skies. Foggy mornings and isolated showers expected in KwaZulu-Natal
KwaZulu-Natal will see a mix of fog and light rain this week, especially in western regions. The day will begin with widespread fog patches in areas such as Pietermaritzburg and parts of the midlands, followed by isolated showers by late morning. 'We're starting tomorrow with some morning fog patches over parts of KwaZulu-Natal,' said Odirile Modipa, a forecaster. 'The fog will gradually lift, but isolated showers are expected to continue through the afternoon.' The province is expected to remain relatively calm, with temperatures barely crossing the 20°C mark. Durban will drop to 13°C overnight, while Pietermaritzburg can expect a low of 9°C. Maximum temperatures are forecast at 22°C in Pietermaritzburg and 17°C along the cooler coastal regions. Modipa noted, 'KwaZulu-Natal can also expect quite a cool day, with Pietermaritzburg only peaking at a maximum of 22°C and coastal areas around 17°C.' Cold and isolated showers expected in Gauteng
Gauteng will continue to experience cold nights and cool daytime conditions this week, with forecasters warning of light rainfall over parts of the province. Johannesburg and Pretoria are forecast to drop to overnight lows of 6°C and 8°C respectively, while daytime highs will remain modest at 18°C and 20°C. According to Odirile Modipa, a forecaster, 'We're expecting quite cold conditions overnight for most parts of the country, with minimums averaging 8°C across the central interior.'
