Paul Simon Charts A Brand New Album As One Beloved Classic Returns

Paul Simon places three albums on the Official Album Downloads chart, including a debut for Concert ... More in the Park and a return to the top 20 for Graceland. The legendary singer-songwriter, often regarded as one of the most creative and important of his generation, saw multiple collections — both solo efforts and those made with his former partner Art Garfunkel — return to various tallies in the country. While some of those sets have faded from view, others have made comebacks worthy of noting this frame. Simon even manages to score a new bestseller in the country, though not with a brand new release. Simon earns a new win on the Official Album Downloads chart this week. On that list, which reflects the top-selling full-lengths and EPs on platforms like iTunes, Concert in the Park: August 15, 1991 arrives. The project narrowly lands on the tally, coming in at No. 97. Simon has now collected a milestone 10 solo placements on that ranking throughout the past several decades. Concert in the Park is Simon's only debut this time around, but two other releases also appear on the charts. Graceland — his bestselling and critically-adored effort — returns to two tallies this frame. It reenters the Official Album Downloads chart at No. 18 and also appears at No. 77 on the Official Albums Sales tally, which counts physical purchases like CDs and vinyl. Simon fills three positions on the Official Album Downloads chart this week. Following Concert in the Park debuting and Graceland returning to the top 20, The Ultimate Collection also bounds back onto the digital-only list. That compilation reappears at No. 60 this frame. The Ultimate Collection is the only one of Simon's projects to climb on the tallies it appeared on last week. The hits-packed set rises slightly on both the Official Albums Streaming and Official Albums charts — the latter being the general all-consumption ranking in the U.K. This time around, The Ultimate Collection improves to Nos. 72 and 81 on those rosters, respectively. Of all the efforts currently appearing on various tallies, only The Ultimate Collection has reached No. 1, doing so on just one of the rankings it now occupies. The win gave Simon a chart-topping title on the Official Albums list — the most prestigious listing for full-lengths and EPs in the U.K. Neither Graceland nor Concert in the Park has broken into the top 10 on any of the tallies they currently occupy, though Graceland came closest on the Official Album Downloads chart. It previously peaked at No. 11 on that roster.

Queen's Catalog Is Still Growing, With One Massive Album Leading The Way

Queen never really needs help when it comes to the charts in the United Kingdom. The hometown heroes always seem to find space with one album or another, and in some instances, several at the same time. This frame, the band is doing more than just hanging on, as the group's work is on the rise yet again. The latest charts bring good news for the rock icons, as multiple albums reappear, many of them improve, and across the board, Queen's catalog is hugely successful once more. This week in the U.K., three of Queen's albums manage to appear on at least one ranking apiece. Two of them hold steady on a single tally each, while one of the band's most successful collections is in the middle of a serious resurgence. That particular title shows up on five charts simultaneously, returning to one and gaining ground on all the others. As is almost always the case, Greatest Hits is Queen's most successful effort on the charts. The title appears on five different U.K. rankings this frame, returning to one while growing in stature on the remaining four. Greatest Hits climbs five spaces to No. 31 on the Official Albums Streaming chart, where it currently stands out as the band's top-performing title. It also bounces back into the top 40 on the all-important Official Albums chart, the list that ranks the most consumed full-lengths in the country. On that tally, the set vaults from No. 42 to No. 33. The same release also re-enters the Official Album Downloads chart, settling at No. 58. That return is especially notable, as just a few weeks ago, it marked a full decade spent on the list. The compilation also improves on both the Official Albums Sales and Official Physical Albums charts, climbing more than 20 spots on each. While it lands outside the top 40 on both of those tallies, the title's jumps to No. 61 and No. 73, respectively, show there's still real interest in not only playing the songs featured on its tracklist, but buying them as well. While Greatest Hits is the biggest success, it's not the only Queen title making major moves this week. The band also sees The Platinum Collection rise substantially on the Official Album Downloads chart. The multi-disc compilation jumps from No. 83 to No. 22, which is quite the leap. That surge ensures that Queen doubles up on the downloads-only list, as both The Platinum Collection and Greatest Hits appear on the tally at the same time. One more Queen project earns a spot on the charts this week. The Bohemian Rhapsody soundtrack appears on the Official Soundtrack Albums list, which ranks the top-performing titles tied to film and television. The set lifts slightly, from No. 49 to No. 46 — a modest gain, but one that shows just how popular the band's catalog is, no matter in what form it's offered to consumers.

Roger Waters Is Back As Fans Can't Get Enough Of His (Former) Band's Masterpiece

Roger Waters' The Dark Side of the Moon Redux returns to four U.K. charts, while the original album ... More continues its own impressive run. (Photo by Roberto Ricciuti/Redferns) Pink Floyd has never faded away on the charts, thanks primarily – but not exclusively – to one of the bestselling albums of all time. This week, the legendary band is once again found on the U.K. rankings. Decades after the group reshaped rock music, its most iconic release is climbing the ranks once more — alongside a newer take from one of its founding members. While The Dark Side of the Moon continues to sell and stream well, Roger Waters celebrates his own chart wins with his reinterpretation of that same classic, The Dark Side of the Moon Redux. This week, The Dark Side of the Moon Redux is back on four different rankings across the U.K., proving there's still major demand for any version of Pink Floyd's legendary album. Among the four rankings it appears on this frame, The Dark Side of the Moon Redux climbs into the top 10 on half of them. It performs best on the Official Rock & Metal Albums list, where it rockets back to No. 4. The release also returns to the Official Vinyl Albums tally, coming in at No. 9. The same release also makes it into the top 20 on two other U.K. rankings focused on purchases. The Dark Side of the Moon Redux settles at No. 17 on the Official Physical Albums chart and appears just behind that at No. 18 on the Official Album Sales roster. While its current success is impressive, it's worth noting that The Dark Side of the Moon Redux has already reached the top of each of the four charts it returns to this week. The set has now spent 13 frames somewhere on the Official Rock & Metal Albums ranking, seven periods on both the Official Album Sales and Official Physical Albums lists, and just three on the Official Vinyl Albums chart. A super deluxe box set of The Dark Side of the Moon Redux dropped on March 14. The expanded edition includes the studio recording, live renditions of every track from Waters' October 2023 performances at the London Palladium, exclusive Blu-rays, a gold vinyl pressing, and even a track-by-track interview. All of that has clearly enticed collectors and superfans, many of whom are eager to experience every facet of the ambitious project. Waters released The Dark Side of the Moon Redux in October 2023 to coincide with the fiftieth anniversary of the original album's release. While some fans and critics questioned the need for a solo reinterpretation, the numbers show there's still a huge appetite for his take. This week, the original version of The Dark Side of the Moon is also present on four U.K. charts, as both editions have carved out meaningful space with listeners.
