Why ESPN picked Sherrone Moore as Ohio State football's biggest villain in 2025
The post Why ESPN picked Sherrone Moore as Ohio State football's biggest villain in 2025 appeared first on ClutchPoints. With people locking in their bold predictions for the Ohio State football team this upcoming season, the program is on the quest to capture its second straight national championship. As Ohio State football fans should be fired up for the season, there could be a team or someone that is in the way of that pursuit. Advertisement Adam Rittenberg of ESPN had a column detailing the each Top 25 team's archnemis or villian for the upcoming season and likely not a surprise, the pick for the Buckeyes is related to the Michigan Wolverines. But it would be pointing out specfically head coach Sherrone Moore as with him at the helm, the Buckeyes are on a four-game skid against the Wolverines, the longest such streak in close to 35 years. 'Michigan coach Sherrone Moore has become a problem for the Buckeyes,' Rittenberg wrote. 'He might not wear the villain outfit quite as well as predecessor Jim Harbaugh did, but Moore's rise in coaching — as Wolverines offensive line coach, offensive coordinator and now head coach — has coincided with Ohio State's longest losing streak (four games) to its archrival since 1991.' Moore became the permanent head coach of the Michigan program after Jim Harbaugh left to the NFL and coach the Los Angeles Chargers. Advertisement Rittenberg would even say that Moore's coaching career 'is really just beginning,' which could make some Buckeyes fans quiver in their boots. 'Moore served as acting head coach during Harbaugh's Big Ten-imposed suspension in 2023, as Michigan punched its ticket to the Big Ten championship game,' Rittenberg wrote. 'He then earned the permanent role and pulled off one of the more stunning upsets in the history of The Game in November in Columbus. The story of Moore's coaching career at Michigan is really just beginning, but he has already demonstrated his ability to win the biggest games.' At any rate, Ohio State opens the season on Saturday, August 30 against Texas, but will face the Wolverines in the regular season finale on Saturday, Nov. 29. Ohio State Football Makes Big Ryan Day Announcement
Ohio State Football Makes Big Ryan Day Announcement originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Ohio State Buckeyes are coming off a remarkable run in the first-ever 12-team College Football Playoff, entering as the No. 8 seed and winning four straight games by double digits. Their path to the national championship included impressive victories over Tennessee, Oregon, Texas, and ultimately Notre Dame in the title game. Advertisement The victory marked Ohio State's first national championship since 2014 and the first under head coach Ryan Day—an especially meaningful moment given that it came just weeks after another disappointing loss to Michigan, which had many fans in Columbus calling for a change at the helm. Day, however, rallied the Buckeyes to a historic postseason, and now Ohio State is looking to carry that momentum into the 2025 season in hopes of a back-to-back title run. Ahead of the upcoming season, Ohio State made a major announcement on Friday and followed it up with a behind-the-scenes reveal on Saturday: Head coach Ryan Day will be featured in 'EA Sports College Football 26.' Advertisement 'Something special to be a part of,' Ohio State posted on social media, sharing an image of Day alongside star safety Caleb Downs. Day's star wide receiver, Jeremiah Smith, is set to be featured on the cover of EA Sports College Football 26, alongside Alabama sophomore wideout Ryan Williams. The cover was officially unveiled last week, building anticipation for the game's release, which is scheduled for July 10. Advertisement After that, the franchise was discontinued due to legal issues surrounding player likeness rights. However, with the emergence of NIL rules and the rapidly evolving landscape of college athletics, the series made a highly successful comeback. College Football 25 became one of the most popular releases of 2024, even surpassing NBA 2K21 to become the highest-selling sports video game in the United States. Ohio State football asks you to spot the difference between two Carnell Tate photos
It won't be long before we have a ton of content to look at and consume with Ohio State football, but right now, just before Big Ten media days, it's the offseason, and many of the social media accounts and outlets are having a little fun with teasing the upcoming season. One of the things the Ohio State football creative team has been doing is sharing two photos that appear to be the same, but have subtle differences. The latest is a photo of OSU receiver Carnell Tate sitting by his locker and vibing out to some music with a caption, "spot the 4 differences." This is the second challenge of this nature shared on the Ohio State Football "X" account, and I have to admit, this one was a wee bit easier. See if you too can find the four differences as we continue to tread towards fall camp and the eventual start of the 2025 Ohio State and college football season. This isn't the most exciting content, but a fun little exercise to pass the time. If and when more of this type of stuff is shared, we'll bring it to you as it makes sense. Bail Set For Ex-Ohio State Football Star Kirk Barton
Bail Set For Ex-Ohio State Football Star Kirk Barton originally appeared on The Spun. Ex-Ohio State lineman Kirk Barton is facing some serious charges following a fatal car accident that he was involved in over the weekend. Advertisement According to police, the former All-American was driving his pickup truck well over the speed limit before striking another vehicle around 3 AM on Saturday morning — killing the other driver who was just 24 years old. Barton reportedly suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was placed in police custody and transferred to jail after being discharged from the hospital. He faces a second-degree felony charge for aggravated vehicular homicide while driving under the influence. Which, if convicted, carries a mandatory prison sentence of 2-8 years. Barton was arraigned on Monday morning and bail was set at $500,000 ahead of his preliminary court hearing on the first of the month. Advertisement Following a standout career with the Buckeyes, the all-conference lineman was a seventh round pick in 2008 NFL Draft but only appeared in one game in his pro career after bouncing around between the Bears, Dolphins, 49ers, Bengals, Lions, Broncos and Panthers in various camps and practice squad stints. This also isn't Barton's first run-in with the law since leaving Columbus. Back in 2018, he was arrested for assaulting a police officer and resisting arrest at a golf complex in Dublin, OH.
