Bail Set For Ex-Ohio State Football Star Kirk Barton
Ex-Ohio State lineman Kirk Barton is facing some serious charges following a fatal car accident that he was involved in over the weekend.

According to police, the former All-American was driving his pickup truck well over the speed limit before striking another vehicle around 3 AM on Saturday morning — killing the other driver who was just 24 years old.
Barton reportedly suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was placed in police custody and transferred to jail after being discharged from the hospital.
He faces a second-degree felony charge for aggravated vehicular homicide while driving under the influence. Which, if convicted, carries a mandatory prison sentence of 2-8 years.
Barton was arraigned on Monday morning and bail was set at $500,000 ahead of his preliminary court hearing on the first of the month.

Following a standout career with the Buckeyes, the all-conference lineman was a seventh round pick in 2008 NFL Draft but only appeared in one game in his pro career after bouncing around between the Bears, Dolphins, 49ers, Bengals, Lions, Broncos and Panthers in various camps and practice squad stints.

He then went on to co-found the website Buckeye Scoop, which has since been banned by Ohio State's athletic department for using unauthorized practice footage to do its reporting.
This also isn't Barton's first run-in with the law since leaving Columbus. Back in 2018, he was arrested for assaulting a police officer and resisting arrest at a golf complex in Dublin, OH.

An ex-girlfriend of GOP Rep. Cory Mills is accusing the Florida congressman of having threatened to release sexually explicit images and videos of her after their relationship ended, according to a police report obtained by CNN. Lindsey Langston, a Florida Republican Party committee member and 2024 winner of the Miss United States beauty pageant, filed a police report on July 14 with the Columbia County Sheriff's Office in Florida. In screenshots of messages Langston said she exchanged with Mills, an account under Mills' name is repeatedly shown saying he would share with an unidentified man videos he had of her. Similar comments are made in text conversations, with a number Langston said belonged to Mills. Langston shared the exchanges with investigators, and CNN reviewed copies of the screenshots, which don't include the entire conversations. 'Let him put his actions behind his mouth. I can send him a videos of you as well. Oh, I still have them,' Mills allegedly wrote to Langston in a string of messages. In response to one exchange in which Mills allegedly said, 'Thanks again for the videos,' Langston replied: 'Haven't you hurt me enough?' and in a separate conversation, Langston wrote, 'Please leave me alone.' Mills has not been charged in connection with the allegations. In a statement shared with CNN, the congressman denied any wrongdoing. 'These claims are false and misrepresent the nature of my interactions. I have always conducted myself with integrity, both personally and in service to Florida's 7th District,' Mills said in a statement. 'Out of respect for the legal process, I won't comment further at this time. My team and I will fully cooperate to ensure the truth is made clear. I remain focused on serving my constituents and advancing America First policies.' Mills' communications director, Julie Singleton, told CNN, 'We have not been made aware of any report or allegations from law enforcement or the alleged complainant.' The public information officer for the Columbia County Sheriff's Office, Steven Khachigan, told CNN that after the department's initial involvement, the matter was referred to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement. Langston began a relationship with Mills in November 2021, and the two lived together at his Florida home, according to the police report. The congressman was separated from his wife at the time, and told Langston his divorce was finalized in 2024, the report claims. Their relationship ended when, in late February, Langston confronted Mills about reports that he was under investigation by the Metropolitan Police Department of the District Columbia for an alleged assault against another woman, the report states. Mills was not charged in the incident, and he and the woman denied there had been any violence when previously reached by CNN. Langston claimed that Mills has contacted her numerous times since February, 'threatening to release nude images and videos of her, to include recorded videos of her and Cory engaging in sexual acts,' the report states. Langston's attorney, Anthony Sabatini, told CNN that her petition for a restraining order against Mills is pending before a judge and declined any comment. Sabatini had run against Mills in the 2022 GOP primary for Florida's 7th Congressional District. The allegations against Mills were first reported by Drop Site News. The publishing of sexually explicit photos or videos of a person online without their consent, known as sexual cyberharassment or revenge porn, is illegal under Florida law. This year, President Donald Trump also signed into law the Take It Down Act, which makes it illegal to share online nonconsensual, explicit images.

Military base shootings have ranged from isolated incidents to workplace violence and terrorism
ATLANTA (AP) — The shooting of five U.S. Army soldiers at a base in Georgia on Wednesday is the latest in a growing list of violent incidents at American military installations over the years. Shootings have ranged from isolated incidents between service members to attacks on bases to mass-casualty events, such as the shooting by an Army psychiatrist at Texas's Ford Hood in 2009 that left 13 people dead. Here is a look at some of the shootings at U.S. military bases in recent years: In December, a National Guard soldier was charged with murder after authorities said he shot a man at a former girlfriend's residence on the grounds of Fort Gordon. The base outside of Augusta, Georgia, is home to the U.S. Army Cyber Command. It was formerly known as Fort Eisenhower. In June 2020, a woman and a man were killed in a shooting at the Grand Forks Air Force Base in North Dakota. The woman's parents later told media outlet KJZZ in Phoenix that she was the victim of domestic violence. In May 2020, a gunman tried to speed through a security gate at Naval Air Station Corpus Christi, Texas, opening fire and wounding a sailor who was a member of base security, authorities said. Security officers shot and killed the attacker, Adam Salim Alsahli, a Corpus Christi resident who had been a student at a local community college. The FBI said at the time that the shooting was being investigated as a 'terror-related incident.' A group that monitors online activity of jihadists said Alsahli voiced support for hard-line clerics. On Dec. 6, 2019, a Saudi Air Force officer who was training at a Navy base in Pensacola, Florida, killed three U.S. sailors and wounded eight other people in a shooting that U.S. officials described as an act of terrorism. In February 2017, a sailor was fatally shot at Naval Air Station Oceana in Virginia Beach by a security officer after he crashed through a station gate and went to his squadron's hangar. Seaman Robert Colton Wright was reported to be 'yelling and causing damage' and moving aggressively toward security officers until one of the officers fired, striking him. Wright worked as an information systems technician for Strike Fighter Squadron 81. In April 2016, an airman fatally shot his commander before shooting himself at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland. Military investigators said Tech Sgt. Steven Bellino, 41, confronted Lt. Col. William Schroeder in an office before the two struggled, and Schroeder was shot multiple times. The men, both veterans of the U.S. Special Operations Command, were in the Air Force's elite Battlefield Airmen program at Lackland. In July 2015, four Marines and a sailor were killed by Kuwait-born Muhammad Youssef Abdulazeez, 24, of Hixson, Tennessee, who opened fire at a recruiting center in Chattanooga. He then drove several miles away to a Navy and Marine reserve center, where he shot and killed the Marines and wounded the sailor, who later died. Abdulazeez was shot to death by police. In April 2014, an Army soldier gunned down three other military men at Fort Hood in Texas before killing himself. Authorities said that Spc. Ivan Lopez had an argument with colleagues in his unit before opening fire. In September 2013, a defense contract employee and former Navy reservist used a valid pass to get onto the Washington Navy Yard. Authorities said Aaron Alexis killed 12 people before he was killed in a gunbattle with police, authorities said. The Washington Navy Yard is an administrative center for the U.S. Navy and the oldest naval installation in the country. In November 2009, Army psychiatrist Nidal Hasan killed 13 people and wounded more than 30 at Fort Hood. He said he was angry about being deployed to Afghanistan and wanted to protect Islamic and Taliban leaders from U.S. troops. It was the deadliest attack on a domestic military installation in U.S. history.
