Ola Roadster Deliveries Underway: 5 Things To Know

The Ola Roadster X was launched in the Indian market in February 2025. During its launch, the electric two-wheeler company revealed that bookings for the EV had started, with intentions to commence deliveries shortly. However, these plans faced ongoing delays for reasons that remained unclear. Now, the deliveries of the brand's first electric motorcycle are underway, and here are five highlights of the new machine. Ola Roadster X: Powertrain The Ola Roadster X is offered in two versions, namely the X and X+. The X variant provides three battery pack choices: 2.5 kWh, 3.5 kWh, and 4.5 kWh. The largest battery pack option is said to deliver a range of 252 km on a single charge. The smaller battery option is claimed to offer a range of 252 km, whereas the larger battery option claims a range of 501 km on a single charge. Ola Roadster X: Price With all these specifications, the Ola Roadster X starts at Rs 99,999 (ex-showroom). In contrast, the Roadster X Plus begins at Rs 1.29 lakh (ex-showroom). Ola Roadster X: Top Speed A video circulating on social media features a person testing the top speed of the Ola Roadster X. The video confirms that the Ola Roadster X reaches a top speed of 42-43 km/h in Eco mode, about 64-65 km/h in Normal mode, and 95 km/h in Sports mode. While the claimed top speed is 118 km/h. It is to be noted that this test was done in normal road conditions. Ola Roadster X: Features The Ola Roadster X is equipped with a 4.3-inch TFT screen that includes Bluetooth Connectivity for navigation and various utilities. It also offers features like DIY mode, cruise control, reverse function, and more. Additionally, all Roadster variants come with brake-by-wire technology and a tyre pressure monitoring system. Ola Roadster X: Deliveries Deliveries of the Ola Roadster X will occur in a phased approach throughout the country, unlike the brand's electric scooter. In the first phase, the bike will be available to consumers in Bengaluru, followed by rollouts in other regions across the country. This allows the manufacturer to address any potential issues that may arise in the initial batch.

In comparison, the recently listed Ather Energy posted a decent improvement in financials for the quarter. For the quarter ended March, the Bhavish Aggarwal-led electric scooter maker reported a 62% decline in sales to Rs 611 crore, a precursor to the decline in market share two months later. The EV maker saw its loss double to Rs 870 crore, from Rs 416 crore in the year-ago period. Ola Electric's financials were impacted by a one-time issue with the registration process, founder Bhavish Aggarwal on an earnings call. In February, Vahan data showed only 8,652 registrations for Ola Electric, while the company claimed sales of 25,000 units in its filings. The discrepancy was attributed to a temporary backlog caused by ongoing contract renegotiations with registration service providers Rosmerta and Shimnit India. The issues have been resolved in the current quarter, the CEO said. Ather, the only other listed pure-play electric two-wheeler manufacturer, reported a 29% increase in operating revenue to Rs 676.1 crore, up from Rs 523.4 crore in the same period last year. Its losses narrowed 17% year-on-year (YoY) to Rs 234.4 crore on the back of rising volumes and improved margins. Ola Electric had the lead in units sold during Q4 at 51,375 scooters, but Ather managed a close 47,411 units. While the former has started deliveries on its Roadster X motorcycles, Ather is working on developing its own line, funded by a part of its IPO proceeds. "The performance of the Roadster X will be the key... While Ola Electric reports strong interest and positive feedback from early customers... we believe the electric motorcycle performance will be critical for the company, as it will be addressing two-thirds of the two-wheeler market through rural penetration; we will wait and watch the performance in the coming quarters," brokerage Kotak Institutional Equities said. Ola Electric managed to reduce expenses by 31.6% to Rs 1,306 crore, largely due to a nearly Rs 1,000 crore cut in material costs. Ather, on the other hand, saw expenses rise 12.6% to Rs 922.2 crore from Rs 818.7 crore a year ago, mainly due to higher material costs, even as employee benefit expenses declined 29% to Rs 109.1 Ola S1 maker has guided for a better June quarter, though. 'If you look at our Q1 outlook, we are sharing a revenue forecast of about Rs 800-850 crore, about 65,000 deliveries and a gross margin of about 28–30%, which is much higher than Q4,' said Aggarwal in a post-earnings company will be careful with allocating capital and managing risk, Aggarwal had said. Suzuki e-Access production starts in India. Suzuki Motorcycle India has started the production of its maiden electric scooter , the e-Access. The model has started rolling out of the brand's Gurgaon manufacturing facility. The model was unveiled at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo earlier this year and will go against the likes of Honda Activa e:, Ather Rizta, Ola S1 and more. Here's a look at everything that you need to know. Suzuki e-Access: All you need to know In terms of design, the model is quite different from the other offerings in the market. While the side profile is on the flatter side with minimal lines and creases, it gets a sharp, raked front apron that gives it an aggressive look. It features a rectangular LED headlamp, a sleek vertical LED DRL strip, and a 4.2-inch fully digital display that supports smartphone connectivity. Powering the electric scooter is a 3.07 kWh LFP battery paired with a 4.1 kW electric motor. This setup delivers a peak power output of 5.5 bhp and 15 Nm of torque, enabling the scooter to reach a top speed of 71 kmph. Ola under fire again: Employee suicide sparks fresh criticism of toxic work culture

Ola's artificial intelligence (AI) division, Krutrim, is facing intense scrutiny after a 25-year-old software engineer died by suicide, sparking widespread concerns about toxic work culture. According to reports, the employee was allegedly overworked, handling the workload of three people, and faced harsh management. But this isn't the first time Ola and its founder, Bhavish Aggarwal, have faced criticism regarding work culture. What has happened? The alleged suicide of Nikhil Somwanshi, who was a machine learning engineer at Krutrim since August last year, emerged in a Reddit post on Thursday. As per the post, Somwanshi was under a lot of pressure at work before taking the extreme step. Ola, in a statement to ET, said Somwanshi was on personal leave at the time of the incident. A former Ola Krutrim employee ET spoke to alleged, 'They are doing utterly mediocre work with incompetent management and leadership. Toxicity is through the roof, as is nepotism.' Not the first time Ola Cabs hit the headlines in 2022 when Bloomberg reported about the aggressive and loud behaviour of Aggarwal with staff. As per the report quoted by several publications, the entrepreneur tore up presentations and shouted at staff for small errors like missing page numbers. Many employees had then termed Ola's work culture "hostile" and toxic. Many employees told the publication that Aggarwal lost his temper at work constantly and used Punjabi epithets at the staff, calling his team "useless" more than once. They also said he set unrealistic deadlines, sometimes way into the night. It was also reported that Aggarwal made an employee run laps of an Ola facility after one entry gate was found to be open. "Not here for a nice time" According to reports, he responded to the report, saying that everybody is "not fit for our culture". When asked about this in another interview with YourStory, Aggarwal said he can come across as a "rough and rude" person, but he's straightforward. During the launch of the Ola S1 in October, Aggarwal referenced the controversy. 'We're not here to have a nice and easy time. My own personal style is aggressive. We have a culture of high quality and high execution." Over the years Aggarwal has said he believes in "work-life harmony" but has questioned the conventional notion of weekends. When Infosys cofounder NR Narayana Murthy kicked off a viral debate with his support for 70-hour work weeks, Aggarwal supported him, saying that he works 20 hours a day "all seven days of the week". Aggarwal has faced criticism for being very similar to Tesla and SpaceX founder Elon Musk , who has also faced criticism for fostering demanding work cultures. Both are known to set aggressive targets, which sometimes face delays or challenges. After Musk took over the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) under the Trump administration in the US and asked federal employees to explain what they did in a day, Aggarwal followed suit. He mandated that employees submit weekly reports detailing their accomplishments. Called "Kya Chal Raha Hai?" (meaning "What's going on?"), the initiative required employees to send Aggarwal and their managers a weekly update listing three to five bullet points of completed tasks, with no exceptions.
