Porsche unveiled the 911 Spirit 70, a special-edition convertible that draws heavily from the design language of the 1970s and early 1980s at the 2025 Shanghai Auto Show. Limited to 1,500 units, the Porsche 911 Spirit 70 is part of the carmaker's ongoing Heritage Design strategy which revisits key eras in the brand's history through limited production vehicles. Porsche 911 Spirit 70: Powertrain The 911 Spirit 70 is based on the current 911 Carrera GTS Cabriolet but features a new performance hybrid setup. The car is powered by a 3.6-litre boxer engine, integrated with an eTurbo, electric motor in the PDK transmission, and a high-voltage system. Combined, the drivetrain produces 534 bhp and 610 Nm of torque. While the technical package reflects Porsche's latest hybrid development, the car's appearance focuses on revisiting the past. Porsche 911 Spirit 70: Exclusive paint and detailing One of the key visual features of the Spirit 70 is its Olive Neo paintwork—a custom dark green created for this model. Accents in Bronzite, a grey-gold tone, are applied to the front and rear sections and the 'Fuchs'-inspired Sport Classic wheels. The black soft top and matching windscreen frame add visual contrast. At the back of the car, there's Porsche and 911 Spirit 70 badging in a gold metallic finish. Three black silk-gloss stripes run along the bonnet and roof—details inspired by 1970s safety stickers once used to make sports cars more visible at high speeds. The side graphics include Porsche lettering and a black roundel for an optional individual number, referencing Porsche's racing heritage. The Porsche crest on the bonnet is nearly identical to the version from 1963. Additional period-inspired features include gold-coloured badges, 'Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur" branding and a Heritage badge on the rear grille, which nods to the one seen on the Porsche 356. This graphic checkerboard motif was used by Porsche in the late 1970s and early 1980s. In the Spirit 70, the pattern is applied to the seat centres, door inserts, glove compartment and reversible boot mat. An optional interior pack extends the pattern to the dashboard trim and seat backs. The cabin is trimmed in basalt black club leather with matching stitching in Olive Neo. The instrumentation reflects the vintage theme as well: the 12.65-inch display uses white pointers, green digits and a retro-style rev counter layout, referencing early Porsche dashboards. Porsche launches 911 Spirit 70 heritage design model
Porsche is releasing its third limited-edition heritage model, the latest being the 911 Spirit 70. The convertible celebrates the style and spirit of the 1970s and early 1980s. Released at the Shanghai motor show, it is part of Porsche's Heritage Design strategy and is limited to 1500 units. Porsche's 911 Spirit 70 app is what the Apple Vision Pro was invented for
Porsche went a bit further than hanging up a disco ball and breaking out the flared trousers for its latest special edition sports car. The 1970's-inspired Porsche 911 Spirit 70 arrives alongside its own virtual reality app for the Apple Vision Pro, sending would-be owners back in time to get a close look at their custom configuration, before they step foot in a dealership or pull the trigger on an order. The app, free to download from the Vision Pro App Store, renders a life-scale 3D model of the car for you to pore over. Choose your paint-to-sample colour, decorative stripes, race numbers or unique seating pattern and it'll update in real-time, while also giving you the low-down on what historic reference or racing achievement each race number represents. The 12 era-appropriate Porsche colours (including, yes, Olive Neo) also come with detailed descriptions and historical references to nerd out over. Once you're happy (and you have a cool £187,700 in your pocket before options) you can save the configuration to your Apple Wallet, ready to send to a dealership. Assuming there are any build slots left, of course: the 911 Spirit 70 will be limited to just 1500 cars produced worldwide. The 911 Spirit 70 itself is a throwback in all the right ways. Porsche's third Heritage Design model follows 2020's Targa 4S Heritage Design Edition and 2022's 911 Sport Classic; it gets the latter car's Fuchs-style alloy wheels, finished here in Bronzite grey-gold, with a classic Porsche badge in the centre. Other standout exterior additions include contrasting stripes that end in '911' on the bonnet (and continue in two-tone on the convertible roof), a race number roundel on each door, gold 'Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur' badges on the front wings, and a Porsche Heritage badge on the engine lid. The black windscreen surround is an exclusive, too. Porsche has continued the theme inside, with an outrageous Pasha pattern in black and Olive Neo colours. OK, it's made from modern fabric instead of true 70's velour, but drivers of a certain vintage are still guaranteed flashbacks to their youth. The pattern is found on the seats, door cards, and glovebox interior; tick the right boxes and it stretches over the dashboard, seat inlays and boot floor. Want a Pasha-trim car seat for your sprogs, too? Not a problem for Porsche. A bespoke green-and-white gauge cluster for the digital instrument panel completes the look, further marking it apart from the current 992.2-generation 911 Carrera GTS Cabriolet on which it's based. Porsche's T-Hybrid powerplant produces the same 534bhp and 450lb ft, courtesy of a 3.6-litre flat six, electrically-assisted turbocharger, and a small electric motor downstream of the eight-speed PDK transmission. All that power is sent exclusively to the rear wheels. Order books are open at Porsche centres now, with prices starting from £187,700.

Porsche has announced the 2026 911 Spirit 70, a limited-edition throwback 911 model with retro-cool styling that pays tribute to the wild disco era of the 1970s. Limited to 1,500 examples globally, the two-door convertible is based on the sporty 911 GTS variant. However, it has been treated to a comprehensive makeover with hard-to-miss cosmetic enhancements—it's a stunning head-turner. The 911 Spirit 70 is the third Heritage Design model, following the introduction of the 911 Targa 4S Heritage Design Edition and the 911 Sport Classic. 'The limited-edition collector's items are particularly desirable for our customers worldwide,' says Alexander Fabig, Vice President Individualization and Classic. 'The first two models in the Heritage Design strategy generated a great deal of enthusiasm and we were delighted with their success. Today we are proud to present the third, highly exclusive model.' Porsche chose the 911 GTS Cabriolet rear-wheel drive model as the foundation—an excellent choice, as the mid-grade trim offers an outstanding balance of high-performance and grand touring comfort. The vehicle has a 3.6-liter flat-six engine, an eTurbo, and an electric motor. The standard transmission is a dual-clutch 'PDK' automatic. The hybrid gasoline-electric model develops 532 hp and 449 lb-ft of torque (we estimate the 0-60 mph sprint takes about 3 seconds, with a top speed of 194 mph). The exterior of the 911 Spirit 70 is painted in Olive Neo, a rich green paint color created especially for the limited-edition model. At the same time, the interior 18-way Sport Seats Plus seats and door panel inserts are upholstered with the iconic Pasha fabric pattern. (Rather than the velour used in past Pasha interiors, Porsche used a new combination of textile and flock yarn to enhance the sporty feel and comfort on long trips.) Interior soft appointments not upholstered with Pasha accents are finished in Basalt Black Club leather with deviated stitching in Olive Neo. The instrument cluster features throwback green digits on the tachometer, accents mirrored on the Sport Chrono stopwatch (on that note, the automaker has created a high-quality chronograph exclusively offered for buyers of the 911 Spirit 70. Sport Classic center-locking wheels (in 20- and 21-inch sizes) are accented in Bronzite (a gold-grey color designed to complement the Olive Neo) and the windshield frame and power-operated (and fully lined) cabriolet top are finished in contrasting black. Buyers may also choose to finish their 911 Spirit 70 with eye-catching graphics that include a trio of decorative stripes running parallel with the hood with elongated '911' letters (recalling art used in the 1970s) and decorative side graphics with Porsche lettering and a Lollipop in satin black with an individual start number—the vinyl decals are a no-cost option. As expected, the vehicle also features unique badging, gold-plated 'Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur' badges, and gold-plated PORSCHE lettering on the rear to further distinguish its exclusivity. 'The Heritage Design models occupy a special position within our product strategy from a design perspective,' says Michael Mauer, Vice President Style Porsche. 'The limited-edition sports cars visualize what makes the Porsche brand so special. Every design of our vehicles ties in with our history – and these vehicles go one step further. They show how we reinterpret historical design elements in a state-of-the-art sports car.' According to Porsche, the 911 Spirit 70 is expected to begin arriving in U.S. Porsche Centers in late summer 2025 with an MSRP of $240,000 (excluding $2,250 for delivery, processing and handling—and any potential tariffs).
