Public satisfaction with radio contents reaches 76%, TV 73%

Muscat: Public satisfaction with the programming content of Oman Radio and TV reached 76% for radio channels and 73% for TV channels, according to a public opinion survey conducted from 18 May 2025 to 18 June 2025, by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI) in collaboration with the Ministry of Information. Satisfaction with TV content covering national occasions, religious events, and weather conditions reached approximately 88%, while content related to raising awareness, government and tourism projects, social issues, and children's programs scored around 69%. Omani viewers primarily engaged with Oman TV's religious and cultural programmes such as 'Matoun', 'Dhifaf' and 'Al Fahras' as well as talk shows like 'Al-Bayt' (The House) and 'Kunna Huna' (We Were Here), and Ramadhan drama series such as 'Al Waqeed' and 'Al-Madyoonir'. For radio content, satisfaction levels stood at 88% for coverage of national occasions, religious events, and weather conditions, and around 74% for government and tourism projects, social issues, and children's programs. Omanis showed the highest interest in religious programs, Ramadhan talk shows like 'Layali Ramadhan' (Ramadhan Nights), and radio drama series such as 'Sawalif Al Jadd Hameed', 'Qala'ed Al-Yasmin', 'Dalshad' and 'Rihla Shaqqa'. At the governorate level, South Al Sharqiyah recorded the highest satisfaction with radio content at 84%. Satisfaction was equal between genders at 74%, while the age group 30-49 registered 78%. For TV content, South Al Sharqiyah and Al Dakhiliyah governorates recorded the highest satisfaction at 76%, with equal satisfaction between genders at 74%. The survey aimed to strengthen communication between the Ministry of Information and the public by involving citizens in media evaluation, contributing to content development, and measuring satisfaction with the quality and diversity of programming on Oman Radio and TV. It also sought to identify audience preferences regarding programme types and media content, ensuring alignment with the aspirations and needs of various age and social groups.

SALALAH: The Ministry of Information will launch today the media programmes accompanying the Khareef Dhofar (monsoon) Season 2025 as part of a comprehensive plan to highlight the tourism, cultural, natural and heritage attractions of Dhofar Governorate during the season. The integrated plan, running until August 31, includes producing and broadcasting visual, audio and digital programmes with interactive content and live field coverage to ensure wide outreach locally and internationally. Oman TV will begin its coverage with the programme 'People and Khareef', returning this year with a refreshed, more in-depth format. The daily show (2:30 pm – 4 pm) will feature diverse locations showcasing Dhofar's landscapes and tourism activities, with participation from Omani and GCC media professionals as well as Arab journalists. The evening programme 'Khareef Nights' will broadcast live from the 'Return of the Past' event site in Al Saada, Salalah (9 pm – 10 pm) on Oman General and Oman Cultural channels, covering heritage, cultural and artistic activities. Oman Radio will air Khareef's Radio Programme codenamed 'Atheer' daily (5 pm – 7 pm) from the 'Return of the Past' location, featuring studio interviews, AI-powered segments on Dhofar, and live video content shared via the ministry's and radio's platforms. Youth Radio will broadcast 'Khareef and Youth' from Jabal Ateen studio (2 pm – 4 pm daily), focusing on artistic, cultural and social themes for young audiences. Oman News Agency (ONA) has commenced its coverage with news reports, features, photos and videos across digital platforms, social media and smart apps, as well as radio/TV bulletins, highlighting tourism assets and socio-cultural interactions. Oman newspaper continues its coverage (since June 21) through print/digital reports and social media, offering rich content on the festivities. Moreover, the Ministry of Information's General Directorate of Digital Media enhances engagement via interactive competitions, drone-captured scenic vignettes and multilingual visitor interviews. The 'Ayn' platform provides live coverage from Oman Radio and TV for all programmes and activities related to the Khareef Dhofar Season. Ayn also launched a children's programme promoting Dhofar as a family-friendly destination through edutainment content. Furthermore, Oman's Information Portal, available in eight languages (Arabic, English, French, Spanish, Russian, Chinese, Japanese and German), features dedicated khareef content to amplify Oman's global digital presence. Oman wins 6 awards at Tunis Arab Radio & TV Festival

TUNIS: The Sultanate of Oman, represented by the Ministry of Information, swept six prizes at the 25th Arab Radio and Television Festival in Tunis. Oman Radio earned two golds for 'Shadows of Mercy,' a biographical series on legendary charitable figures and for its youth-focused tech programme exploring virtual reality career paths. Both shows were presented by Khaled al Salami and directed by Asaad al Raisi, with production teams led by Khaled al Hajri (Shadows of Mercy) and Anas al Mashfiri and Khaled al Bada'i (Youth Tech). A Silver Award went to 'Majra' in the Science category. Produced by Ahmed al Kalbani and directed by Asaad al Raisi, the series examines AI's transformative role across the environment, energy and economy. The documentary 'Without Identity,' produced by Anas al Mashfiri and directed by Mohammed al Shamli, also took silver for its hard-hitting investigation into human trafficking and organ smuggling. In the Arab Song Competition, the ballad 'Mawtan Al Jalal' (lyrics by Hisham al Saqri; composition by Asaad al Raisi; vocals by Abdul Hamid al Kiyumi) claimed second place. The Sultanate of Oman TV won silver for 'Ramsa,' a talk show produced by Mohammed al Dhabouni, hosted by Fahd al Mashaykhi and directed by Saeed Taman. — ONA
