CHRIS Brown sang in prison for his fellow inmates and wrote a thank-you note to one for looking after him. Fans of the US R&B star, 36, feared he would be targeted by prisoners after being refused bail on a GBH charge. 3 3 3 But lags ensured he came to no harm at privately run HMP Forest Bank in Salford, Gtr Manchester. A source told The Sun: 'Sometimes people will be targeted if other inmates know they have money, but they looked after him instead. 'They know he's famous and also American so not really aware of how prisons work over here. 'He had no treats so all he could do was order the basic food you're offered. When it was lock up at night-time, some of them were shouting, 'Sing us a song Chris!'.' Brown also wrote and signed a note to an inmate called Dave before he was released on £5million bail on Wednesday. It read: 'To Dave, Thank you my brother, I appreciate everything you've done for me while I've been banged up. Keep being a good person. God sees all and he sees your heart. You'll be home soon my bro. Cheers!!' Brown was arrested at 2am last Thursday at Manchester's Lowry Hotel. He was sent to jail the following day after a magistrate rejected his bail request. The singer faces trial after being charged with committing grievous bodily harm to music producer Abe Diaw in February 2023. He is alleged to have attacked Mr Diaw in London nightclub Tape with a bottle. US national Omololu Akinlolu, 38, is also charged with GBH. As part of his bail conditions, Brown can play ten UK dates in June and July as planned. Yesterday, fans were camped outside the Lowry hoping to catch a glimpse of him. Brown and Akinlolu are due to formally enter pleas at London's Southwark crown court on June 20.

(Invision/AP pic) LONDON : British police charged a second American musician today in connection with an alleged assault in London in 2023, a day after singer Chris Brown was charged over the same incident. Omololu Akinlolu, 38, a rapper and producer who performs under the stage name HoodyBaby, was charged with inflicting grievous bodily harm with intent in relation to the assault, alleged to have taken place in London on Feb 19, 2023. He was due to appear in court in Manchester later today, police said in a statement. Grammy Award-winner Brown, 36, one of the best-selling R&B artistes of all time, was denied bail by an English court over the charge, throwing his upcoming world tour into doubt.

He and his co-defendant Omololu Akinlolu – who performs as HoodyBaby – are set to appear in court next month. Brown's tour starts on June 8 in Amsterdam, followed by 10 UK dates including Manchester's Co-op Live arena on June 15, plus gigs in Birmingham and Glasgow.

Manchester magistrates' court heard last week that Mr Diaw was standing at the bar of the Tape nightclub when he was struck several times with a bottle, and was then pursued to a separate area of the nightclub where he was punched and kicked repeatedly. Brown was arrested at Manchester's Lowry Hotel at 2am on Thursday by detectives from the Metropolitan Police. He is said to have flown into Manchester airport on a private jet last week in preparation for the UK tour dates. A case management hearing has been set for Oct 24.
