Chris Brown denies further charges over alleged bottle attack at London club
The American musician pleaded not guilty to assault occasioning actual bodily harm to Abraham Diaw at the Tape venue, a private members' club in Hanover Square, Mayfair, on 19 February 2023. He also denied having an offensive weapon, a bottle, in a public place.
His co-defendant, Omololu Akinlolu, a US national, on Friday denied assault occasioning actual bodily harm. They sat side by side in the dock, looking straight ahead during the hearing at Southwark crown court.
About 20 fans sat in the public gallery behind the dock, with several gasping as the singer walked into court. A trial lasting five to seven days is due to start on 26 October 2026.
Brown denied the more serious charge of attempting to cause grievous bodily harm at a previous hearing.
He was able to continue with his scheduled international tour after he was freed on conditional bail in May.
The singer had to pay a £5m security fee to the court as part of the bail agreement, designed to ensure he returns to court. The sum may be forfeited if he breaches bail conditions.
Brown was arrested at the Lowry hotel in Manchester at 2am on 15 May by Metropolitan police detectives. He is said to have flown to Manchester airport on a private jet in preparation for the UK tour dates.
He was released from HMP Forest Bank in Salford, Greater Manchester, on 21 May. Shortly after, Brown posted an Instagram story referencing his upcoming tour that said: 'FROM THE CAGE TO THE STAGE!!! BREEZYBOWL.'

A referee was knocked over following a mass brawl in an FA Cup qualifier on Wednesday night. The incident occurred during a match between Ashford Town Middlesex and Eastbourne as the home side advanced to the next round courtesy of a 3-2 win after extra-time. But the encounter was plunged into darkness just after 10:30pm, when the floodlights at Ashford's Robert Parker Stadium switched off. That was due to them not being allowed to run any later because of restrictions imposed by Heathrow Airport - which is just under a mile away. While no light could be seen on the pitch, red mist descended among the players as a full-scale brawl ensued between them which resulted in the referee being felled. Fans could then be heard shouting as they attempted to identify who was responsible for harming the match official. Speaking to talkSPORT on Wednesday morning, broadcaster Ian Abrahams, who attended the match, said: 'It was one of the most bizarre games we've been at. 'The reason why the lights went out is quite a bizarre story. 'These are brand new lights that have been put up at Ashford Town – a club right next to Heathrow Airport. There are three or four clubs in and around the perimeter fence of Heathrow Airport, and Ashford Town is one of them. 'So you're right by the runway and all night planes are literally taking off 30 seconds apart. 'These brand new lights have gone up, but because it's a residential area and it's near the airport, they have to agree that the lights won't be on after 10:30 at night.' He then proceeded to explain how the fight came about, which the referee became inadvertently involved in. Abrahams added: 'The minute the lights went off, there was a free for all in terms of a brawl amongst the players and what seemed like the staff. 'And the referee – I don't know what he was doing – but he was walking right by the players. 'And as some of the Eastbourne Town players moved away to try and sort of avoid being involved in the brawl, they knocked the referee over. 'But he goes down in his stormers and then seems to grab his ankle like he's been tackled – it was just hilarious!'

First migrants detained under UK-France returns deal, Starmer confirms
The first migrants who arrived in the UK after crossing the English Channel have been detained under the new 'one in, one out' deal, the prime minister has confirmed. The first detentions came after people arrived in Dover on Wednesday, the first day the pilot scheme came into force. Posting to social media, the prime minister said: 'We have detained the first illegal migrants under our new deal before returning them to France. No gimmicks, just results. 'If you break the law to enter this country, you will face being sent back. When I say I will stop at nothing to secure our borders, I mean it.' The Home Office said detentions began for those who arrived on Wednesday afternoon and they will be held in immigration removal centres until they are returned to France. Home Secretary Yvette Cooper said: 'Yesterday, under the terms of this groundbreaking new treaty, the first group of people to cross the Channel were detained after their arrival at Western Jet Foil and will now be held in detention until they can be returned to France. 'That sends a message to every migrant currently thinking of paying organised crime gangs to go to the UK that they will be risking their lives and throwing away their money if they get into a small boat.'

Police hunt vandals after more than 40 cars wrecked in overnight spree
Police are searching for vandals who damaged dozens of cars in a market town in Warwickshire in a two-hour destructive spree. A total of 41 cars were targeted with the vehicles spray-painted with green paint and having their windows smashed. It happened in the Overslade area of Rugby between midnight and 2am on Sunday morning. The cars were parked in Saunton Road, Westbourne Grove and Wentworth Road, The vandalism has caused anguish in the quiet residential area, Warwickshire Police said. On one car, the words 'We R Here' was spray-painted, on another it said 'Help'. The force has issued a CCTV picture showing two people they would like to speak to in relation to the damage. One is wearing an Off-White brand top, detectives believe. Chief Inspector Angus Eagles said: 'This incident has understandably caused a lot of anguish in the local community, and we have launched a thorough investigation to identify those responsible and bring them to justice. 'One of the people we would like to speak to was wearing a distinctive top which we believe to be the Off White brand. We're hoping someone can help us identify the owner. Our CCTV enquiries are ongoing. 'We're continuing our enquiries and appeal for anyone with CCTV, dash cam or doorbell footage from the area around the time of the incident to get in touch with us.' Anyone with information is asked to call 101. Crimestoppers is also offering a reward of up to £1,000 for information that leads to person being arrested and charged.
