Kuwait hosting of OCA meeting shows its status on sports map
Sheikh Fahad Nasser Al-Sabah KUWAIT: Kuwaiti Olympic Committee Chairman Sheikh Fahad Nasser Al-Sabah affirmed that Kuwait's hosting of the 45th General Assembly of the Olympic Council of Asia, which kicks off next Sunday under the slogan 'One Asia,' reflects the advanced status of Kuwaiti sports on the Asian Olympic sports map. In a press statement Thursday, Sheikh Fahad said that the Olympic Committee, in cooperation with the Olympic Council of Asia, has made all necessary preparations to host this major sporting event, which brings together the Asian Olympic sports family. The official meeting of the General Assembly will be held next Monday at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel, with the attendance of the presidents and officials of the National Olympic Committees from 45 Asian countries, and with the presence of the President of the International Olympic Committee, Dr Thomas Bach, he added. Sheikh Fahad also noted that about 400 sports figures from Asia and the world have been invited to attend this most important Asian sports gathering, which works to advance the Olympic movement on the continent. On another hand, Sheikh Fahad stated that the Kuwait Olympic Committee will host the 37th meeting of the Council of Presidents of the Gulf Olympic Committees next Sunday at the Four Seasons Hotel, stressing the importance of this Gulf sports meeting. — KUNA

In a statement issued Thursday, Sheikh Fahad said the Kuwait Olympic Committee, in cooperation with the OCA, has completed all necessary preparations to welcome this major continental event, which unites the Asian Olympic sports family. The official General Assembly meeting will take place next Monday at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel, with the participation of presidents and officials representing the National Olympic Committees of 45 Asian nations. The event will also be graced by the presence of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) President, Dr. Thomas Bach. Sheikh Fahad highlighted that approximately 400 distinguished sports figures from across Asia and around the globe have been invited to attend this significant gathering, which aims to further the development of the Olympic movement across the continent. Kuwait to host 45th OCA General Assembly under the Theme ‘One Asia'
KUWAIT CITY, May 6: Kuwait is set to host the 45th General Assembly of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) next Sunday, under the theme 'One Asia.' The two-day gathering will bring together delegates from 45 Asian nations and around 400 prominent sports figures. OCA Director General Hussein Al-Musallam announced in a press statement that the assembly will be attended by officials from across Asia and the globe, including heads of National Olympic Committees. Notably, current International Olympic Committee (IOC) President Dr. Thomas Bach and newly elected IOC President-elect and former Olympic swimming champion Kirsty Coventry of Zimbabwe will also attend. The event will also welcome a host of heads of Asian sports federations and influential international sports leaders. As part of the assembly, a cultural celebration will be held at the Jaber Al-Ahmad Cultural Center, featuring folklore performances from China, India, Uzbekistan, Indonesia, Lebanon, and Kuwait — symbolizing the unity and diversity of Asia through sport. Al-Musallam emphasized that the assembly aims to strengthen the Olympic movement in Asia, promote sportsmanship, and uphold the values of friendship and mutual respect. He expressed hope that the meetings would produce impactful decisions to further advance Olympic sports across the continent.
