OnePlus 15 release date expectations, price estimates and upgrades

OnePlus 13 . | Image credit – PhoneArena The OnePlus 15 is still months away – after all the OnePlus 13 launched globally on January 7. But that hasn't stopped many details from trickling in. While we don't have the full picture just yet, OnePlus' track record gives us a pretty good idea of what might be coming. For starters, the curved screen could be going away entirely in favor of a flat display – though the size will probably stay the same as the current model. A much bigger battery is also expected, likely to support what is rumored to be a more powerful chip under the hood – most likely Qualcomm's next-gen flagship processor. Out of the box, the OnePlus 15 should run OxygenOS based on Android 16. Now, let's dive into what kind of upgrades and features this upcoming flagship could bring. * - probable dates Why a OnePlus 15 could debut instead of a OnePlus 14? Looks like the next OnePlus flagship might skip a number. Instead of a OnePlus 14 following the current OnePlus 13 , there is a real chance it could jump straight to the OnePlus 15. The reason? In China, the word for 'four' sounds a lot like the word for 'death,' so plenty of local brands avoid using it in their product names. Oppo – OnePlus' sister brand – already did this in its foldable lineup, going from the Find N3 straight to the Find N5 without a 4 in sight. If OnePlus follows the same playbook, we might never see a OnePlus 14 , with the company skipping right over it. That said, this superstition mostly applies to products sold in China, and OnePlus plays on a global stage. In fact, it's not like the brand has completely avoided the number before – the Nord 4 launched just last year, and the OnePlus Buds 4 also hit the market globally not too long ago. For now, it's all just speculation, and we'll have to wait to see what OnePlus actually decides. But for now – and going by most chatter out there – we'll stick with calling it the OnePlus 15. There haven't been any leaks or rumors about the OnePlus 15 's pricing yet. However, if OnePlus sticks to its current pricing strategy, the new model could start at around $899, just like the OnePlus 13 . Given that the company already raised the price by $100 with the last release, another hike so soon seems unlikely. To see how OnePlus phone prices have changed over the years, check out the table below. * - anticipated prices The OnePlus 15 is shaping up to bring some serious camera upgrades. While the OnePlus 13 stuck with the same 50 MP main sensor as the one before it, this upcoming model might finally raise the bar with a higher-resolution main camera. Even more interesting – there is buzz about a possible 200 MP telephoto lens making its way into the mix. That would be a huge leap and could really boost its zoom and detail game. OnePlus 15 expected camera setup (for now): 50 MP main camera 50 MP ultra-wide camera 50 MP 3x telephoto camera The OnePlus 15 is expected to stick with storage options similar to the current model. That means the base version will probably come with 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage, while a higher-end variant could offer 16 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage. There is also talk of a 1 TB storage option for China and it would be awesome if OnePlus decides to bring that to other markets this time around. OnePlus 15 expected storage capacity: 12 GB of RAM with 256 GB storage space 16 GB of RAM with 512 GB storage space OnePlus 15 might look a lot like the OnePlus 13s here. | Image credit – OnePlus If that sounds familiar, it is because it's pretty much the same style we've seen on the OnePlus 13T and OnePlus 13s – a clear sign OnePlus might be streamlining its design across the lineup. Of course, since the OnePlus 15 will be the flagship, you can expect it to pack a more premium feel and top-tier finishes compared to its siblings. The overall design will likely stick to the classic glass and metal sandwich, though OnePlus may also offer a faux leather variant. And while the exact colors haven't been confirmed yet, there are rumors about a new SuperBlack option that is being compared to a black hole. It sounds dramatic, but it might actually be close to those ultra-black finishes that soak up almost all visible light – basically the deepest black you can get on a phone. Moreover, while the OnePlus 13 has a nearly flat display with slight 2.5D curves, the OnePlus 15 might make the jump to a completely flat screen, putting it more in line with iPhones and Samsung Galaxy phones. Another change should be the removal of the iconic mute slider. Instead, OnePlus is expected to introduce an iPhone-like Action Button starting with the OnePlus 15 . This new button, as the name suggests, will be customizable, meaning users can assign it to various functions beyond just muting the phone. You could, for example, use it to take photos, launch specific apps, record voice memos and more. – OnePlus, March 2025 OnePlus has been relying on Samsung's OLED panels for quite some time, but last year, the company switched things up and experimented with BOE panels. This partnership is likely to continue, so we can expect the next flagship to feature a 6.82-inch AMOLED will probably have LTPO technology, allowing it to adjust its refresh rate dynamically from 1Hz to 120Hz and offer a resolution of at least 2K (3168×1440). The current model boasts a peak brightness of 4,500 nits, and we expect the next one to match or possibly even surpass that. To top it off, the display will likely be protected by a special Crystal Shield glass, ensuring durability. Several Chinese manufacturers, including OnePlus, already made the switch to silicon-carbon batteries and the OnePlus 13 comes with a huge 6000mAh one. For the OnePlus 15 , the battery is expected to be even bigger. If that is true, we are looking at a serious boost in battery life, possibly making it the longest-lasting flagship of the year. As for charging, you can count on some serious speed, with support for wired charging at up to 80W or even 100W. When it comes to wireless charging, the OnePlus 15 should support up to 50W, especially when paired with the company's air-cooled wireless charger. The OnePlus 15 will most likely run on Oxygen OS 16, based on Android 16 , right from the start. You can definitely expect some AI-powered features to be included as well. These might include: AI Detail Boost: Enhances photo clarity and overall quality. Enhances photo clarity and overall quality. AI Unblur: As expected, it reduces blur in images. As expected, it reduces blur in images. AI Reflection Eraser: A handy tool for snapping photos through glass. A handy tool for snapping photos through glass. AI Notes: Offering support for note-taking. Offering support for note-taking. Circle to Search: Another convenient feature to make searching easier. If OnePlus sticks with its current update policy, you can expect the OnePlus 15 to receive four years of major Android updates and six years of security patches. OnePlus has always relied on Qualcomm chips for its premium devices, and that trend will likely continue with the OnePlus 15 . Expect to see the successor to the Snapdragon 8 Elite powering the next device. It will probably be called the Snapdragon 8 Elite terms of performance, the OnePlus 15 will have more than enough muscle to handle everything you throw at it and then some. It is set to outshine the already impressive OnePlus 13 , which holds its own against flagship phones like the Galaxy S25 series. So, top-tier performance will definitely be on the cards for the next generation. You should wait for OnePlus 15 if you are a die-hard OnePlus fan and already have the OnePlus 11 or OnePlus 12. The upgrade could be more substantial, especially since the OnePlus 13 isn't that much of a leap from the 12. You should not wait for OnePlus 15 if you are currently in the market for a new flagship phone. It is still a while away, with a global launch expected early next year. In that case, you'd be better off considering the OnePlus 13 , Galaxy S25 or another top-tier flagship Android phone available right now.

OnePlus 15 rumour roundup: India launch, price, specs and more to expect

OnePlus has recently confirmed the launch of the OnePlus 13s in India. But we are here to talk about the next flagship phone by the company -- the OnePlus 15. Yes, you read it right. Apparently, there is no OnePlus 14, and the company is jumping onto the next numerical digit. The upcoming OnePlus 15 is already generating buzz months ahead of its expected debut. In India, the flagship is expected to follow the steps of its predecessor, OnePlus 13, and may launch in January 2026. However, the Chinese variant is most likely to launch a few days ahead. While the company is yet to announce its next flagship, the rumours and leaks paint a decent picture of what is coming with the OnePlus 15. Let's take a look. advertisementOnePlus 15: Specs and features leakDisplay: One of the most notable changes, according to renowned tipster Digital Chat Station, is the shift to a flat display — a departure from the curved screens used in recent OnePlus flagships. This 6.78-inch LTPO AMOLED panel is expected to feature a 1.5K resolution, slightly lower than the 2K (QHD+) screen found on the OnePlus 13. However, the new design will reportedly feature ultraslim and symmetrical bezels, akin to the sleek edges seen on modern While design specifics remain under wraps, early rumours point to a slim and minimalist build. If OnePlus continues to trim thickness from its devices — the OnePlus 13 was 8.5mm thick — the 15 might be even thinner, possibly without sacrificing battery size. Processor: Powering the device could be Qualcomm's rumoured Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 chipset, identified internally as the SM8850. Benchmarks indicate impressive performance, with the chip scoring 3.8 million on AnTuTu and delivering a 25 per cent improvement in Geekbench 6 compared to its predecessor. It's also said to be built on TSMC's 3nm (N3P) process, promising better efficiency and power. Given that the OnePlus 13 offered configurations of up to 24GB RAM and 1TB of storage, similar or even higher specs are When it comes to cameras, details are still murky. Digital Chat Station claims the OnePlus 15 will house a triple-lens rear system, including a 50-megapixel periscope telephoto lens. However, another reliable leaker, Smart Pikachu, has suggested the periscope lens could in fact be a 200-megapixel sensor. If true, this would mark a massive leap in zoom and imaging capabilities for 15: Price expectationsThe OnePlus 13 was launched at Rs 69,999 for a vanilla variant. Even though the OnePlus 15 may bring several upgrades, we may not see a huge jump in the pricing. While nothing is confirmed so far, the speculation is that the OnePlus 15 price could start at Rs 80,000. Although a launch in October in China seems likely — following OnePlus' usual release cycle — we're still about five months away from the official unveiling. That leaves plenty of room for changes in hardware and features before the final model is always with pre-release leaks, it's wise to view this information with caution. More concrete details are expected in the coming months. Stay tuned for updates as more credible information surfaces about the OnePlus 15.

OnePlus 15 rumours start coming in, here is everything we know about next OnePlus flagship

The OnePlus 15 is expected to launch this fall with a host of exciting upgrades. Before you raise eyebrows — where's the OnePlus 14? Well, there may not be one because '4' is mostly considered inauspicious in some Asian cultures. Which is why the successor to the OnePlus 13 may very well be the OnePlus 15. At this point, it's only been mere months since the launch of the OnePlus 13 in India. However, looking from the Chinese launch perspective, the phone was unveiled in October 2024, and considering the tech giant intends to launch the OnePlus 15 around October this year, we are now less than five months said that, you may think — the OnePlus 13 is already a pretty much complete smartphone. What better can they do with the OnePlus 15? Well, 'new year, new upgrade' is the name of the game, and according to the latest leaks, the next-generation flagship is shaping up to be very to Digital Chat Station, the biggest change that will come to the OnePlus 15 is a flat display. I don't know about you, but personally, I am someone who is a fan of pure flat displays — not just for their aesthetics, but also for practical reasons. The display is tipped to be a 6.78-inch LTPO AMOLED panel with a 1.5K resolution. The resolution is a bit of a downgrade, considering the OnePlus 13 comes with a 2K (QHD+) display. On the bright side, the bezels are expected to be ultraslim and symmetrical, much like we've come to see on iPhones. Source: Digital Chat Station advertisement Another big detail is the presence of the SM8850 chipset under the hood, which is heavily rumoured to be the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 processor. In a recent leak, the chipset had an AnTuTu score of 3.8 million and showed a 25 per cent jump in Geekbench 6 testing. The chipset is rumoured to be fabricated on TSMC's 3nm (N3P) process node. Considering the OnePlus 13 comes with up to 24GB RAM and 1TB storage, the newer model could also likely come in a similar range of terms of camera, the tipster suggests the OnePlus 15 will feature a triple-rear camera system, including a 50-megapixel periscope telephoto lens. However, another tipster, Smart Pikachu, has noted in a separate leak that the phone will instead have a 200-megapixel periscope there's no clear mention of the design, although the leak does say that the phone is going to feature a simple and thin design. By simple, it could signify the phone having a flat display and not a curved or a quad-curved one. As for being slim, the OnePlus 13 comes with a thickness of 8.5mm. Can we expect the OnePlus 15 to be even slimmer while packing a larger battery? Only time will said all of this, we'd suggest you take each and every detail in this article with a healthy grain of salt. Despite the chances of the OnePlus 15 launching in China by October (given OnePlus follows the same launch pattern as the 13), do keep in mind that we are still about five months away from the unveiling. There's a good chance a lot could change by we move forward, more information about the OnePlus 15 will keep pouring in. Stay tuned to India Today Tech for all the latest.

Qualcomm may launch Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 earlier than usual, check timeline here

There's a high chance that Qualcomm might be aiming for an early launch of its next-generation flagship mobile processor. According to tipster Digital Chat Station, the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 — which is expected to power many premium Android smartphones in late 2025 and early 2026 — could be announced in late September. This would mark a change in Qualcomm's usual launch timeline, as the company typically unveils its top-tier processors at its annual Snapdragon Summit, held in October or later. If this turns out to be accurate, the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 would arrive a full month earlier than its predecessor, the Snapdragon 8 Elite, which launched on October 21 last tipster claims the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 will make its debut in late September, with commercial smartphones featuring the chip arriving in October. This is consistent with past release cycles, where major smartphone brands roll out their flagship devices about a month after Qualcomm's announcement. In China, brands like Xiaomi, OnePlus, and iQOO are likely to be among the first to introduce phones powered by the new chip. Expected models include the Xiaomi 16 series, OnePlus 14, and iQOO 14. In terms of technical improvements, the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 is expected to be a major upgrade over last year's chip. Built on TSMC's advanced 3nm (N3P) process node, the chipset is rumoured to deliver a 30 per cent boost in GPU performance and a 25 per cent improvement in CPU power. It is tipped to use Qualcomm's second-generation Oryon CPU cores, featuring a combination of performance and efficiency cores that aim to strike a balance between power and battery life. The base clock speed is expected to be around 4.4GHz, while the GPU — reportedly an Adreno 840 — is said to be clocked at 1.35GHz, which should offer smoother graphics and gaming One of the more impressive leaks surrounding the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 is its performance on benchmark tests. As per tipster Digital Chat Station, the chip has allegedly scored over 3.8 million points on AnTuTu. Meanwhile, Geekbench scores suggest up to a 25 per cent increase in single-core performance and a 20 per cent improvement in multi-core scores, compared to the previous also talk of architectural enhancements, such as support for Arm's latest v9 instruction set extensions like SME1 and SVE2. These additions are expected to boost on-device AI capabilities, computational photography, and other heavy workloads. Additionally, a larger cache size — rumoured to be around 16MB — may further enhance system responsiveness and overall performance by about 30 per details will likely surface in the coming months, but for now, Android fans have good reason to be excited.
