OnePlus 15 rumour roundup: India launch, price, specs and more to expect
OnePlus has recently confirmed the launch of the OnePlus 13s in India. But we are here to talk about the next flagship phone by the company -- the OnePlus 15. Yes, you read it right. Apparently, there is no OnePlus 14, and the company is jumping onto the next numerical digit. The upcoming OnePlus 15 is already generating buzz months ahead of its expected debut. In India, the flagship is expected to follow the steps of its predecessor, OnePlus 13, and may launch in January 2026. However, the Chinese variant is most likely to launch a few days ahead. While the company is yet to announce its next flagship, the rumours and leaks paint a decent picture of what is coming with the OnePlus 15. Let's take a look. advertisementOnePlus 15: Specs and features leakDisplay: One of the most notable changes, according to renowned tipster Digital Chat Station, is the shift to a flat display — a departure from the curved screens used in recent OnePlus flagships. This 6.78-inch LTPO AMOLED panel is expected to feature a 1.5K resolution, slightly lower than the 2K (QHD+) screen found on the OnePlus 13. However, the new design will reportedly feature ultraslim and symmetrical bezels, akin to the sleek edges seen on modern iPhones.Design: While design specifics remain under wraps, early rumours point to a slim and minimalist build. If OnePlus continues to trim thickness from its devices — the OnePlus 13 was 8.5mm thick — the 15 might be even thinner, possibly without sacrificing battery size.
Processor: Powering the device could be Qualcomm's rumoured Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 chipset, identified internally as the SM8850. Benchmarks indicate impressive performance, with the chip scoring 3.8 million on AnTuTu and delivering a 25 per cent improvement in Geekbench 6 compared to its predecessor. It's also said to be built on TSMC's 3nm (N3P) process, promising better efficiency and power. Given that the OnePlus 13 offered configurations of up to 24GB RAM and 1TB of storage, similar or even higher specs are likely.advertisementCamera: When it comes to cameras, details are still murky. Digital Chat Station claims the OnePlus 15 will house a triple-lens rear system, including a 50-megapixel periscope telephoto lens. However, another reliable leaker, Smart Pikachu, has suggested the periscope lens could in fact be a 200-megapixel sensor. If true, this would mark a massive leap in zoom and imaging capabilities for OnePlus.OnePlus 15: Price expectationsThe OnePlus 13 was launched at Rs 69,999 for a vanilla variant. Even though the OnePlus 15 may bring several upgrades, we may not see a huge jump in the pricing. While nothing is confirmed so far, the speculation is that the OnePlus 15 price could start at Rs 80,000. Although a launch in October in China seems likely — following OnePlus' usual release cycle — we're still about five months away from the official unveiling. That leaves plenty of room for changes in hardware and features before the final model is revealed. As always with pre-release leaks, it's wise to view this information with caution. More concrete details are expected in the coming months. Stay tuned for updates as more credible information surfaces about the OnePlus 15.

Nidec launches Rs 600cr manufacturing plant in Dharwad
Dharwad: Nidec, a global leader in data centre equipment manufacturing, has set up a new plant with an investment of Rs 600 crore at the Beluru Industrial Area in Dharwad. The facility was officially launched by minister for large and medium industries, MB Patil. Speaking at the event, Patil said the new plant, which creates 800 direct jobs, will cater to the growing demand across sectors such as electric vehicles, data centres, renewable energy, battery storage, and general industries. "This unit will bolster local manufacturing, enhance R&D capabilities, and improve supply chain reliability," he said. The plant will manufacture heavy-duty machines of 2MW, 3MW, and 4MW capacity, essential for data centres, using advanced technology from Japan and France. These machines will be exported to markets in the US, the UAE, and Europe, alongside serving the domestic market. "While the facility has initially generated 800 direct jobs, the number is expected to rise to around 3,000 once the plant becomes fully operational," Patil informed. He also mentioned that 20 acres of land has been allocated for the company's battery solutions unit. In addition to heavy machinery, the plant will also produce power backup generators, wind generators, alternators for data centre, EV motors for three wheelers, four wheelers, trucks, elevator motors, and electronic drives-MV and LV. "For Nidec's project, we ensured timely facilitation by allotting the required land within just two years," he added. Addressing concerns about water usage, the minister clarified, "The Krishna River water tribunal has allocated 4 tmc of water for industrial purposes, of which, we are currently using only 0.5 tmc. We are not diverting water meant for agriculture. Moreover, the industries are provided only downstream water from the Hidkal Dam." He further emphasised the importance of balancing industrial development with agricultural interests. "While acquiring land for industrial purposes, fair compensation must be ensured for farmers. A healthy balance between agriculture and industry is vital," Patil noted. The event saw the participation of Japanese Consul General Nakane Tsutomu, French Consul General Marc Lamy, and senior Nidec officials including Michael Briggs, Greg Garman, and Girish Kulkarni.
