Bella Hadid Can't Stop Wearing Vivaia's Sneakerinas – Here's How To Style The Divisive Shoe

The more Bella Hadid steps out in sneakerinas, the less and less divisive the trend starts to look. It's a story as old as time: supermodels managing to make just about anything look appealing. With the ballet flat renaissance well and truly underway, 2025 was the year a less 'palatable' hybrid trainer version came into the mainstream. But, lest we forget, ugly shoes are fashion catnip. Soon this lovechild was influencing the shape of new sneaker drops and street style spotlights. Goodbye chunky soles and Triple S vibes, hello to the slimline silhouette we loved back in the Seventies, with sporty side stripes, suede uppers and featherweight serrated soles. There's a reason Puma Speedcats, adidas Sambas, Onitsuka Tigers and Miu Miu Plumes are having such a moment. Now, Vivaia has hopped on this bandwagon with a new take on its cult Cristina shoes. If the original design was delicate and balletic, crafted in lustrous satin and dyed in pastel hues, the new Yancy style is sportier than ever. Bella Hadid was spotted out in West Hollywood just this week modelling the creamy 'Natural' shade with tonal Jean Paul Gaultier jeans and a matching denim jacket. Made from padded Re-Nylon (that's recycled Nylon, for the non Prada-mad out there), the Vivaia Yancy has swooping overstitching and suede panelling, as well as a retro rounded toe. Unlike the candy-coloured Cristinas, this shoe comes in basic black, white, cream and a bold red. Of course this isn't the first time Bella has been spotted wearing Vivaia. In fact, the shoe brand has the model to thank for its sudden success. While, yes, the direct-to-consumer label has garnered a roster of celebrity fans – Selena Gomez, Julia Roberts, Alexa Chung and Katie Holmes, to name but a few – since its launch five years ago, in 2025 Vivaia entered the big leagues. When the Cristina sneakerina launched in February, it took less than a month for it to sell out – all thanks to Bella, who was seen wearing a a black pair with a Saint Laurent bag and wool overcoat in early March 2025. Two short weeks later and the Orabella founder was out in sneakerinas yet again: this time in New York, in Vivaia's ivory Cristina with capri leggings and a black Saint Laurent bomber. Cue another sell-out situation. Naturally, in April of this year, it was impossible to get your hands on a pair. But, luckily, Vivaia has kept the drops coming, with fresh new colourways landing all the time – namely butter yellow for summer and an on-trend burgundy to see you through the autumn season. We're big fans of the square-toed full vamp Cristina that Bella Hadid and Amelia Gray Hamlin own, but these shoes also come in a more balletic version, the Yanka, for the truly trainer-averse. Charli XCX has these lower-cut, rounded-toed sneakerinas in pink – she was seen wearing them at Glastonbury and out with friends in NYC. As a self-confessed trainer hater, my life changed the day Vivaia's Cristina sneakerinas landed on my desk. I find – believe it or not – classic trainers to be uncomfortable and I hate the silhouette they create. I was partial to a slim Nike Cortez once, but would rather opt for a heeled boot than ever wear a dress with trainers. Then, ballet flats returned and my feet were freed from their clip-clopping prison. However, there are some outfits that the classic ballet flat can easily take into 'twee' territory, and this is where the sneakerina really comes into its own. That injection of easy athleisure was just what my stripy Ganni midi needed to feel less mumsy (I am a mum, the fear is real), and suddenly my all-black outfits had a cherry on top in the form of low-key flats, not heels. You get the gist: sneakerinas are wearable. No one should be intimidated by this shoe. It goes just as well with an unabashedly girlish midi or mini (think Simone Rocha or Cecilie Bahnsen) as it does with streetwear or sleek Skims loungewear. And, as Bella has proven, it also goes particularly well with this season's favourite capri pant and a relaxed leather bomber (or any bomber jacket for that matter). From Ironic to Iconic: Retro Sneakers Are The Trainer Trend Of The Summer

All linked products are independently selected by our editors. If you purchase any of these products, we may earn a commission. Back in 2018, Bella Hadid, Hailey Bieber (then Baldwin), and Tracey Ellis Ross all appeared in the year's hottest sneaker: the Balenciaga Triple S. The raised-platform design, which first debuted in 2017, had signaled the rise of a new era — that of the 'ugly sneaker,' chunky styles with an athletic look and a more-is-more aesthetic. Think: Louis Vuitton's Archlight sneaker (worn by Jaden Smith) and Gucci's Rhyton. But, as the pendulum of fashion trends swings between extremes, it's reversed course. It's been seven years, and Hadid is now in $150 Vivaia ballet sneakers, Bieber is in Onitsuka Tigers, and plenty of other trendsetters are co-signing the rise of something more minimalist… and familiar. When it comes to 2025 trends, the scales have tipped as shoppers (whether famous or not) are in search of a slimmer silhouette, drawing inspiration from '70s running shoes, '90s racing boots, and '00s ballet flats. Starting in 2022, the rise of the soccer-adjacent Adidas Samba was a bellwether that things were moving in a more low-profile direction. Today, a whole new class of styles, from designer runners from Loewe and The Row to revived athletic styles like the Puma Speedcat, Adidas Taekwondo, and the Onitsuka Tiger Mexico 66 are driving the return of the retro-leaning sneaker trend. The irony of 'ugly' shoes has run its course, and what has replaced it is a desire for something simple and comfortably nostalgic. The Return of Y2K Aesthetics For a generation of Gen Z shoppers, embracing thrift shopping and nostalgic trends has sparked interest in sneaker silhouettes that last dominated the culture in the early aughts. There are hundreds of listings for styles like the Puma Speedcat (which launched in 1999) on Grailed. As resale popularity spikes, the brand is simultaneously relaunching its OG silhouettes, riding the wave of nostalgia and introducing iconic Puma silhouettes to a new generation of shoppers. 'Consumers are leaning more than ever into the rising Y2K aesthetic, which is why slimmer silhouettes are having such a powerful moment with a demand that just continues to grow,' says Christina Mirabelli, Puma's director of sportstyle marketing. 'Consumers have a true passion for 'what's old is new again,' which is how so many of these archival slim styles are coming to the forefront.' The Move Towards Minimalism In the last two years, several minimalist designer styles have dominated the conversation: Most notably, Miu Miu X New Balance 's 530 SL, Louis Vuitton's Sneakerina, Dries Van Noten's sneaker, and Loewe's Ballet Runner 2.0 (which followed the success of the first iteration released in 2019). The rise of these luxury label offerings — defined by streamlined silhouettes and a slim fit through the foot — has mirrored the rise of quiet luxury across the board. Despite price tags that range from just under $550 to over $1,000, Miu Miu and Dries Van Noten sneakers both made the Lyst Index 's hottest products last year alongside more affordable counterparts like the Speedcat and the Adidas SL72. While these sneakers often come with a color palette that fits their minimalist silhouette, a slew of playful colors, patterns, and materialities are popping up as well. Dries Van Noten's sneakers — which are almost entirely sold out in both the New York and L.A. stores — in addition to black, white, and tan colorways, are available in a bold green suede, red snakeskin leather, and a metallic pink leather. You can expect to see this juxtaposition evolve according to Ashley Ahwah, VP Adidas Originals North America: 'Metallics, ponyhair, patent, and bold colors are dominating,' she explains. For 2025, it's about 'understated silhouettes with the juxtaposition of bold colors and materials.' The Power of Sportfluence Whether it's via professional athletes, dancers, or race car drivers, the influence of sports on fashion is an enduring trend. Though a far cry from the satin pointe shoes worn by professional dancers, a sneaker-ballet flat hybrid has popped up as one of this year's biggest sneaker trends. In terms of styles, Miu Miu's Gymnasium Ballerinas, along with collaborations between Solomon and Sandy Liang and Bad Bunny and Adidas, have come to embody the look that can be tied back to nostalgia for the '90s and early '00s when styles like the Nike Air Rift first hit their stride. Often designed with a slipper silhouette and ribbon laces or straps that criss-cross the top of the foot, they couldn't be more different from the 'dad sneakers' that dominated the trend cycle for so long. The Lyst Q1 Index Report indicates that the Puma Speedcat ballet is the third buzziest product so far of 2025, with searches for ballet sneakers in general up 1300% year over year. It's also worth noting the rising cultural influence of other sport-inspired styles. Adidas credits the comeback of the Samba, a soccer sneaker, with helping launch a revival in other sports-adjacent trainers. 'The success of Samba and soccer… has opened the appetite from our consumer to seek iterations and looks that are more low-profile,' says Ahwah. See: the Taekwondo, which the brand relaunched last year after it first debuted in the early 2000s for sparring on the mat. As well as: Onitsuka Tiger Mexico 66, today worn by stars like Bieber and Kaia Gerber, but originally a silhouette for athletes to wear during the 1966 Olympics. Puma's Speedcat, which was first designed in 1999 as a Formula One racing shoe, has returned with a vengeance as fandom for the sport has reached astronomical heights — securing its spot as one of the hottest products on multiple Lyst reports over the last year. Most recently, this design was spotted on Ferrari drivers Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc. While technological advances mean that these sport-inspired styles may no longer be used by professional sportspeople, their snug fit and simple profile make them ideal for off-duty outfits on days that we're craving more than just old-school aesthetics, but also the familiarity and comfort that comes from nostalgia.

I Thought I Would Never Wear A Waistcoat – Then I Found This Linen Style

Once just a participant in three-piece suits, the waistcoat has, in recent years, managed to shrug off its stuffy past. Now, it's the piece every stylish cool girl has on rotation. For summer 2025, the best waistcoats have become a bona fide staple, the kind you throw on instead of an airy shirt for a relaxed look that's slightly more elevated. While this means there's no shortage of options to shop, one specific style reigns supreme when it comes to surviving the heat in style: linen waistcoats. In black, grey, beige or white, linen waistcoats make for effortless tailoring that's ridiculously breathable and comfortable, and one style in particular has taken over my summer mood board – a sleek, tailored number from Aligne. Aligne's Lupin Linen Tie Waistcoat has quickly become a fashion insider favourite, thanks to its airy linen and cotton-blend construction that blends the breezy ease of summer dressing with the polished structure of classic tailoring. Ditching traditional buttons for a tie-front detail, it's proof that tailored pieces don't have to be rigid, which is especially welcome when soaring temperatures call for flowing, unrestrictive clothing. 1. Lupin Linen Tie Waistcoat - White This crisp white linen waistcoat is a fail-safe addition to any summer wardrobe thanks to its cool material and even cooler tie detailing. Of course, it's no surprise that another tailored staple from Aligne is dominating the summer dressing discourse. The brand's Leo Linen Waistcoat has long been a fan favourite, with its playful split-cut hemline and longline tailoring creating a chic, slightly oversized silhouette. Then there's the Daphne Blazer, which sits somewhere between outerwear and waistcoat thanks to its button-down detailing, and is adored by the fashion pack, especially in its buttery yellow and sleek black iterations. It wouldn't be an overstatement to say the brand has a knack for offering contemporary style classics that slot seamlessly into everyday wardrobes. As for how to style the linen waistcoat? It couldn't be easier. For off-duty occasions, low-rise jeans, matching linen shorts and tailored wide-leg trousers should do the trick; finish with ballet flats or retro trainers such as the Onitsuka Tigers (we certainly have a soft spot for the classic yellow iteration). When it's time to add a touch of sophistication for date nights and evenings out with friends, swap the flats for elevated favourites like kitten mules or nostalgic heeled flip-flops. Alternatively, shop the black version below. 2. Lupin Linen Tie Waistcoat - Black Price: $59.49 (was £ 119) If you're a fan of keeping it classic, opt for the black iteration instead, which looks great paired with tailored trousers for dressier occasions. I'm Wearing This Specific Tank Top On Repeat All Summer

Summer, for all its sun-soaked virtues, always presents an annual dilemma to even the best-dressed among us: what on earth are you supposed to wear when it's this hot outside? While there are plenty of new trends to flirt with this season – from breezy boho skirts to effortless tube tops – I always find myself returning to my trusted favourites. Chief amongst them is the tank top. ©Getty Images An easy everyday basic, tank tops are everywhere in the summer, but finding the one? It's surprisingly difficult. Too tight, too sheer, awkward neckline, flimsy straps – there's a lot that can go wrong. And even if you find one that ticks all your boxes, it can still sometimes feel a bit too boring for summer's cheery and fun vibe. That is, until Tory Burch released the very tank top that's about to feature heavily in every fashion girl's summer rotation. The staple in question is Tory Burch's Ribbed Tank Top, which comes in two basic colours: white and black. At first glance, the tank looks as simple as the high street pieces in your closet. So, what makes it special enough to justify the £330 price tag? It's all in the details, of course. The heavyweight ribbed cotton fabrication lends structure despite the simple cut, making it surprisingly flattering across body types. Then there's the sturdy straps and reasonably high back that cover your bra straps while the scoop neck adds an elegant touch – but it's the fun, removable floral brooch at the chest that truly sets the tank apart. The black tank comes with a pink brooch, while the white version is spruced up with a bright yellow flower and is reminiscent of Carrie Bradshaw's iconic white tank. ©Instagram/@divasmith Shop: Tory Burch's Ribbed Tank Top An excellent day-to-night number to slip on when the weather gets warm, Tory Burch's tank is hardly the first designer basic to be inducted into the fashion hall of fame. From Loewe's anagram tank topto Prada's triangle logo-detailled tank, elevated designer takes on the humble classic have been a firm staple amongst fashion's coolest dressers for a few summers now, proving that everyday staples can indeed feel polished and luxe. ©Instagram/@devonleecarlson If you're heading on holiday, Tory Burch's top is perfect for days at the beach and rooftop dinners alike. In white, the tank makes an excellent companion to linen trousers and jeans, whether you finish it off with strappy sandals or bright yellow trainers to match the flower (we're loving Onitsuka Tigers this summer). Alternatively, the black version is inherently dressier and will work well with lace skirts and slinky satin trousers for a night out. With multiple sizes selling out fast, shop the Tory Burch tank top below, as well as my pick of the best deisgner tank tops that are as fun as they are practical. The Zara Outfit Everyone's Been Wearing On Repeat - And Yes, It's Still in Stock

While there's no denying just how much fun it is to pick out and put together an outfit in the morning, there's something to be said for the easy breezy nature of a get-up-and-go outfit that eliminates at least one step in the process of getting ready. That's why, I will never stop waxing lyrical about co-ords - the ultimate style shortcut. This summer, high street champion Zara has provided an endless supply of perfect summer outfits, currently led by the knit bandeau top and combined knit skirt co-ord. With frilled detailing on top and layered fabrics at the bottom, this Zara two-piece strikes the perfect balance between contemporary and classic. It's the ultimate summer outfit, and after scrolling past it a few too many times on Instagram, I knew it was time to take the plunge. 1. Knit Bandeau Top - Ecru Shop the Zara bandeau as part of the set or individually. 2. Combined Knit Skirt - Ecru Pair with the matching knit skirt with combination material. Styling the co-ord is effortless; simply throw on the top and skirt, pick out your favourite pair of shoes, and you're good to go. With summer here and the encouragement to let our feet breathe, sandals are a great choice, but trainers will work just as well, whether you're after a pop of colour with Puma Speedcats - or embracing some of the season's biggest trends with a pair of Onitsuka Tigers in black and white. But just because it's a co-ord doesn't mean you have to wear it as one – getting the most out of one means styling each piece individually, too. Take the top, for instance, which pairs seamlessly with any trouser (might we suggest the COS relaxed twill Trouser) or a classic pair of denim jeans. Or, if you're keen to keep things breezy for warm summer days and stuffy tube commutes, swap in a swishy, ankle-grazing denim skirt for a floaty feel. Pick a pair of cool girl sunglasses that'll take your outfit from simple to chic in an instant, and if you're planning on wearing the two-piece during a trip to the Med, accompany it with a classic raffia tote Côte d'Azur style. Shop the two-piece now before it sells out, and if ecru isn't quite your colour, opt for the ballerina pink iteration, which we've featured below. But hurry - this co-ord will sell faster than you can say summer essentials. 3. Knit Bandeau - Pink Alternatively, opt for the pink version of the set, or again, buy the bandeau on its own. 4. Combined Knit Skirt - Pink For the full ensemble, pair with the pink combined skirt. Image credit: @kasalmen and @meg_legs Emma Richardson is a fashion commerce writer for Grazia.
