This film narrates the harrowing experience of their attempt to combat the Yarnell Hill Fire in Arizona back in 2013. Depicting the unfortunate fate of the 19 firefighters who died battling the flames, leaving surviving member Brendan McDonough, portrayed by Top Gun: Maverick actor Miles Teller, this film touched hearts nationwide and immortalised the team's heroic saga. Audience reactions have been overwhelmingly positive, with one viewer exclaiming on Rotten Tomatoes, "Wow. I don't want to give a single thing away, so I won't comment on the plot. This is a must-see. the acting, the pacing, the storyline, the character arcs, the production, the music tie-ins, the directing. everything!! one of my favourites now." Another viewer was equally moved, stating: "A truly gripping and heart-wrenching true story, Only the Brave showcases Joseph Kosinski's talent as a truly versatile director, with multiple great performances, some horrifying realistic effects, and uncomplicated writing that gets straight to the point," reports the Daily Record. Featuring an ensemble cast, including Josh Brolin, James Badge Dale, and Jeff Bridges as courageous firefighters, the movie is complemented by the talents of Andie MacDowell, Jennifer Connelly, and X-Men's Ben Hardy. The film has received widespread acclaim for its character-driven narrative and the performances of the cast, as well as its thoughtful and respectful handling of the true story, with a mix of authenticity and dramatic flair. This is a movie with good performances and a real emotional centre. There are exhilarating moments that kept me on the edge of my seat, but the movie shines with its human story and really being character-driven." "The ending of this story is pretty heart-breaking stuff, and I think it is impossible for anyone who watches it to not be moved by it." They added the film "flew completely off the radar" upon its release in 2017, and now "deserves more attention". Despite failing to achieve box office success in 2017, generating only $25.8 million worldwide against a production budget of $38 million, Only the Brave continues to captivate new audiences, sharing its uplifting story of real-life heroism and leaving a lasting impression on viewers. A viewer commented: "Although it's very Hollywood, the acting is solid, the story is compelling, and, well, it's about a bunch of real heroes. And you learn a lot about wildfires and how they're fought." Only The Brave is currently available to stream on Netflix.

Netflix fans rave over film dubbed 'a masterclass in storytelling 'based on harrowing real events as they're left 'in tears and on the edge of their seats'

Netflix fans have raved over a film dubbed 'a masterclass in storytelling' based on harrowing real events as they're left 'in tears and on the edge of their seats'. Only the Brave, which is based on Sean Flynn's GQ article No Exit, hit our screens back in 2017. The official synopsis reads: 'All men are created equal… then, a few become firefighters. 'Only the Brave, based on the True Story of the Granite Mountain Hotshots, is the heroic story of one unit of local firefighters that through hope, determination, sacrifice, and the drive to protect families, communities, and our country become one of the most elite firefighting teams in the country. 'As most of us run from danger, they run toward it – they watch over our lives, our homes, everything we hold dear, as they forge a unique brotherhood that comes into focus with one fateful fire.' It stars Josh Brolin, Miles Teller, Jeff Bridges, James Badge Dale, Taylor Kitsch and Jennifer Connelly. Only the Brave, which runs for 133 minutes, is directed by Joseph Kosinski and the screenplay is by Ken Nolan and Eric Warren Singer. It is based on the story of the 19 crew members that lost their lives on the Yarnell Hill Fire in Arizona on June 30 2013. The only crew member that survived was Brendan McDonough. Although the American biographical drama was released seven years ago, people are only just watching it on the streaming service, and sharing their rave reviews now. The film has received an impressive 87% on the Tomatometer of review site Rotten Tomatoes, as well as 91% on the Popcornmeter. One TikToker named @eccyreviews said in a video: 'Whatever you're planning on watching next, you need to make sure it's definitely this film. 'I just got done watching it on Netflix. 'It's a heart-breaking true story which genuinely left me in tears.' Rest in peace to them. Very well put together, 10/10.' 'Very touching movie with interesting and also sad fates of people, that risked their lives for the others.' 'One of the better movies I have watched.' Meanwhile Netflix fans have shared their excitement after the streamer announced a major change which will 'transform' every hit series. Many viewers watch their TV shows and programmes with subtitles, but now there is been an update to the service which sees subtitles show just the words spoken, and nothing else. The new adaptation was rolled out on the fifth and final season of You, released last Thursday, and Netflix plans to add it to all its original shows from now on. Early testers reported a smoother reading experience, Netflix said, saying it was less 'obtrusive' - and fans have now also taken to social media to express their delight at the new feature. One user said on X: 'Finally, a win for subtitle lovers! No more getting distracted by every door creak and ominous music cue. 'Netflix is stepping up its caption game with a cleaner, more streamlined experience. Less chaos, more clarity.

Fashion world honors Pope Francis for his vision, values and legacy of peace

Deep sorrow and great emotion have marked the response of the global fashion industry following the death of Pope Francis, who passed away at 7:35 a.m. on April 21. Across the creative and cultural spheres, prominent voices in fashion and beyond paid tribute to the pontiff's enduring legacy. Known for his compassion, humility, and dedication to peace and the planet, Pope Francis left an impression on individuals from all walks of life—including leaders from the fashion world. Donatella Versace, artistic director of the iconic Italian fashion house Versace, honored the Pope by posting a photo of him on Instagram, writing: "Rest in peace, His Holiness Pope Francis." Renzo Rosso, founder of the Only the Brave group—which owns brands such as Diesel, Marni, and Maison Margiela —shared his admiration in a heartfelt message: "Thank you, Pope Francis, for your example, courage, and commitment to our planet." Rosso met the Pope several years ago in a private audience, where he was gifted a pair of white jeans. Federico Marchetti, Italian entrepreneur and founder of the luxury e-commerce platform Yoox, also shared a personal photo from his meeting with Pope Francis, captioned: "Requiescat in pace, Franciscus." He went further, publishing the Pope's final speech in full. Fashion editor and influencer Anna Dello Russo echoed similar sentiments on Instagram: "Goodbye Francis. He was the Pope of the forgotten, the poor, the marginalized and the persecuted." Tributes extended beyond the fashion industry. King Charles III of the United Kingdom—who established the Fashion Task Force under the Sustainable Markets Initiative in 2020 while still Prince of Wales, with Marchetti as chairman—honored the pope's spiritual and ecological legacy. In a message released by Buckingham Palace on behalf of both himself and Queen Camilla, the monarch reflected: "His Holiness will be remembered for his compassion, his concern for the unity of the church and his tireless commitment to the common causes of all people of faith and those of goodwill who work for the benefit of others. His belief that caring for Creation is a fundamental expression of faith in God resonated with so many across the world." Italian Undersecretary of Culture Lucia Borgonzoni also reflected on Pope Francis's connection to art and culture. "Among the many messages of deep spirituality he has delivered to history—such as his powerful and moving appeals for peace, so fragile in these times marred by conflict and oppression—what will remain unforgettable to me are the words filled with love that he dedicated to art in all its forms," she wrote. "He recognized the essential role of art in each of our lives, as well as the importance of cultural figures." According to the official medical certificate, Pope Francis died from a cerebral stroke, coma, and irreversible cardiocirculatory collapse. Born Jorge Mario Bergoglio in Buenos Aires, Argentina, he was 88 years old. He became the 266th pontiff of the Catholic Church following his election on March 13, 2013, after the resignation of Pope Benedict XVI. His health began to decline in March due to bilateral pneumonia, resulting in a 38-day hospitalization at Rome's Gemelli Polyclinic, which ended on Sunday, March 23. He gradually resumed his duties and made his final public appearance on Easter Sunday, when he toured Saint Peter's Square aboard the Popemobile. There, he delivered the traditional "urbi et orbi" blessing—a solemn message addressed "to the city [of Rome] and to the world"—and briefly greeted U.S. Vice President Vance. With Ansa
